Well, its that time. time to fire up the veg system again. its been neglected. badly. I haven't so much as filled it up in over two months. There was ungodly funk growing in there that was rightfully nuked with bleach. i also found out what happens when an 8 year old 400 GPH power-head runs dry for oh lets say a month....... notice melty stuff

and nutes that have evaporated onto the unit because of the heat....

and in its new home....

a short trip later to pet co and a 250 gph power head (largest they had WEAK!!!) later its up and running. ready for its new friend the Double Gum clone.

Now that the double gum is in her new home it was water change day for the over grown haze queen. its out of control but showing hairs so the stretch is almost over. thank ganja god. i pumped out the big system and replaced all the water and nutrients to the tune of this:

240ml Aqua shield
180ml Ionic Bloom
60ml Ionic Boost
50ml Cal Mag
60ml Diamond Nectar

stalks galore but way too much stretch... live and learn

Yea the double gum is definatly leaning heavy on the indica side of things. the mom is nice and short and doesnt try to grow towards the light as readily as the haze. im interested in the overall yeild of the plant. Ive been spoiled and was given a sample of it already so that mystery is out of the bag. Nice couch lock high and excellent aroma reminding me of juicy fruit with very sweet over tones and nice crisp taste when lit. over all a very mellow tasting variety when compared to the haze which is an assualt on the sense when smoked.
the haze is the only strain ive tried that makes me sneeze everytime i hit it for the first time that day.

As far as that lettuce goes, it had more funk growing on it then in the two month old water i found in the veg system.

I"m almost a 100% sure that the light was hurting production of my system. Just look at the stretch! its almost as if I'm growing a completely different plant this time around. I'm not satisfied with the scrog but that's not going to make me cut it down and start over!

The double gum is taking off slowly. I have a root out of the net pot which is timely to say the least usually takes 4-6 days so its just about on time. temps in the veg room at around 77* ambient. The 1/10th hp chiller also cools my veg room water as well and that has stayed consistently around 68*. I took a shot in the dark and put a small pump hooked to a coil of rubber tubing into the flowering res. prayed that it worked and tired it out. works pretty damn well if i don't say so.

there ya go, looking ok. the double gum is getting all funky but i think its just bitching a little. it should fall inline

i'm out of room but the stretch has stopped.....

next step might be bending them over and tying them down to the open area if they grow much more.

hey hazy, i see what you mean about it getting away from you, but that girl looks healthy anyway!
fwiw i think you would be better with a larger mesh size on the screen - then you may have been able to pull some of the taller branches right back under and let them fill the other side (i guess you were keeping that for another plant but it nay have been better to let this one fill the whole cab given the stretch) its always hard to call exactly how long to veg etc.

The gal looks super healthy. A bit too crowded on one side of the cab, but live and learn.
How much room do you have from the bulb to the top of the plant?
Looks like you could gain some height by redoing your light mounting hardware, if needed.

If it comes down to it ill remove the lock link to get another inch. Right now I have about 2 inches to the glass on the cool tube. I'm considering flowering the double gum in the veg side until the haze finsihes out then switching it over asap to the flowering system. This is a problem but honestly the increase bud production in seeing is making up for screwing the perpetual harvesst completely.

shes pouring on the weight. i backed off the nutrients slightly as the ph has been diving at a gradual rate and this is not where i want to be. You can see the stress in the nuggets. those pink pistils are stress from ph spikes.

you can see it in the above pictures. but it is what it is at this point. i doubt its going to hurt production much (famous last words).

the double gum is still bitching. i might lower her nutrients maybe shes a little bit lighter of a feeder then the haze.

you can see some clawing and a little bitching on the tips. but i think she will be all right if she just starts setting roots. i might top her soon but shes gotta branch a little more.

The haze is BOOMING. im impressed. took a peek at the roots and they look extremely healthy for this stage of the game. the haze will run for 71-75 days depending on the trics. so im not quite halfway there. but these look like a mile advanced from the the last batch... COUGH COUGH ballast COUGH.

the double gum was topped. she was running for the light like no ones business so i stopped that shit in its tracks. ill add in the screen soon to get it ready. pipe cleaners will be purchased as well for LST. i like the roots on the double gum shes looking fine now. the tip burn has all but gone away and the leaves are a nice shade of green.

the light penetration is impressive i measured legit nugget 10 inches into the canopy.

i need to take clones and clean some other stuff up, after that ill go to trimming the larf out of the bottom for airflow and cleaning up some premature stuff that wont make it under the canopy. and of course a leaf trim because big stuff is getting shaded. last time i checked 23 major colas.

I thinned out the crap on the bottom for air flow and took down some offending fan leaves. the are filling in. just think..... ~40 more days, these are going to be monsters!

This is day 20 for the Double Gum. it just so happens to be flip day as well. in an unplanned manner i am now converting the veg closet into a make shift flower cab. it wont take her to term tho because i know i will have a smell problem. so its just gotta grow her big enough to compete with the haze for the 400W's love... LOL.

here she is the day of her flip. Double gum dont do me wrong!

and here is the reservoir. the make shift reservoir cooler has temps under control. I'm more then happy with its performance. who knew that some rubber tubing coiled into the flowering res running as a "parasitic" system would work out so well. constant 68* temps. the 250 gph power head is working well. i wish it had some more balls but i guess it will just have to wait.


I am considering making some type of flat carbon filter to place over my 239cfm dayton axial. I'm worried about smell even for the 3 weeks i anticipate flowering it in the cab. any one have any experience with a flat micro carbon filter?
