GROW TENTS !!!!!!!!!

Hey guys
I've been looking at tents for quite some time now, going to get one as soon as I move into the house
Something like this:

http://www.atlantishydroponics.com/...lebase&utm_medium=comparsionshopping&aff=5108

Just an 8x8 tent. 3 1000w lights, leaving a 4x4 footprint for watering/maintenance/etc.

Here lies the problem. There aren't enough openings in the tent for my required applications. It would need a 6" on opposite sides to aircool 2 of the lights, as well as another set of 6" flanges for the third light to try to keep the ducting as straight as possible. I believe these only have two total requiring you to bend the ducting way too much, beings severely inefficient.

Another thing, it'll be a sealed tent. co2 gen + controller. The carbon scrubber will be outside of the tent in the lung room along with the window ac.

15500 btu window ac with a box built around the back end exhausting all of the heat outdoors. Another box will be built for the front end of the unit housing 2 separate 6" ducts. This requires 2 6" vent holes lined up on a side of the tent, one being on the bottom and the other being on top. The top vent will be the tent's hotter air being run through the ac, and then the cool air being pushed back into the tent via the bottom vent. This is just an effort to keep the heat from the ac outside and keep the co2 in the tent inside. Will it leak smell even if the lung room is were the in-air for the hot exhaust is being scrubbed?

I just need to know there's a feasible method of making these extra vents in the tent, as they're not there. Taking a knife to the tent seems sad as it's fairly expensive, but if it makes it work and keeps it lightproof then who gives a shit. I was planning on reading through this thread to see peoples techniques on doing it but have been lacking the time lately. Would this work?

hi zaru,

x)the tent
as you noticed, there are some tents with outgasing issues around. This (from my point of view) happens due to them using
cheap materials. I do not know this particular type of tent, but
as it run about the size of my homebox xl (much smaller than this) i would question the quality of the material used.
Also if it doesnt have this particular issue (i am only saying it may)
if cheap construction is used its ceilling may not carry as much weight as needed causing results with your cooltubes or whatever you want to use in the progress. also you will need a big vent pulling the air from the room, this may cause some issues.

x) openings
for this brand i am not certain, but as i use it in mine by now,
homebox, jardin and a few others offer you adapters to create
additional holes. I just pressed mine against the tent, used a pencil to mark the hole, cut it out, stuck it in, and screwed it tight.

x) sealing a tent
a friend of mine tried this on several different brands and sizes.
let me tell you, you will need a lot of duct tape and its a pain in the arse. i do have a recommendation on how to do it tho.
what we did for his current setup is simple.
we got a fog maschine (a specialised one for finding leaking windows and notice airflow) we rented at a local hardware store)
hook up a vent to it, and suck some air out (dont make it go too strong). then move around the tent with it, and when the smoke crawls inside, tape over that region.

from what i have seen and what i have read, smell is always tricky. but its doable with good planning ahead.

x)
get a flange ;)

additional stuff:
=>i know i may come across as a homebox fanbox, but a friend of mine tried 8 different boxes so far and i helped set up all of them.
there is a reason why i didnt go cheap and got a homebox setup
myself. now i know homebox classics may be too small for your application but have you considered this:
http://www.hbmodular.net/choose-your-shape
they also have a lot of in- and out's for air and such.
and they are by far the easiest to seal.

also you can extend your setup this way if needed.

Just got my tent today from amazon.com. Its 32x32x63, I believe its the same seller thats on ebay. Anyway its a lot better quality than I expected, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a tent for about 90 shipped. The only complaint I have is the vent ports appear to be only 4"-5'', Im not sure if 6" ducting will fit.

Hey all, I'm in bloom right now, 2 weeks in and the humidity is getting high during the dark cycle like up to 80%. My only real solution is to run my intake and exhaust all the time to control it. Just curious what is everyones method of humidity control? I'd love a super small dehumidifier, any interesting suggestions?

I run my exhaust fan 24/7 as well as one canopy fan. Usually keep it on medium speed but bump up to high when buds bulk up. My 2nd canopy fan and hood fan turn on with light. I haven't had any issues with extreme humidity except for when it's rainy weather and buds are massive and compact. Tent usually runs around 50% humidity/75*F, lights on. Humidifier should do the trick if it's too humid. Just watch out for high humidity during lights off.

seems like the new darkroom II's and the growlab's top the grow tent list. Which is better? Taking into account all aspects, durability/quality, design, features etc

thank you :)

While this is bumped up, anyone using a Gorilla Grow Tent?
Thinking about splurging on the 5'x5'.

Oh, I didn't see any pics

I was just f'n with him

Gorilla tents look worth the $$$, that's hard to come by

I have a 3x3 growlab laying around that I haven't ran for years

Good quality materials, sturdy zippers and not to many pin holes

Though one thing I hate on tents are the windows, never made sense to me

I have a 5X9 Gorilla tent with height extension to make it 8ft. and I love it. It's a bear to put together since the tolerances are so tight with the frame and the tent, but only at a few points were you would expect it to be tight since you have to allow for later stretch of the material as time goes on. Tons of ports, including one on the top which saved me because I would not have been able to run a duct outlet any other place because of where the tent was placed. So over all I am really happy. Much better than my last tent, dark room 4X8, which showed pin pricks of light all over it after about 4 months when the lights were on in the tent and off in the room it was in. The Gorilla is DARK~! I always figure that if lights getting out, it's also getting in. lol And as stated above, the viewing windows are useless. This ain't no peep show or side show attraction for people to walk by and take a look. If I want to see the plants I open the damn door.
