Hoots, Im glad you are enjoying with all the different plants. And thanks for all your detailed descriptions, i can almost appreciate them from here :)

Cheers Dubi, such lovely plants, good to remember them again while typing:)

Yes a welldone plant and smoke report-like your lightcyclos Hoots. And
have set some Malawi seeds in paper . ) will dust some Nepals with Malawi.
Those 14 hours and down i have to try..But 18 weeks-long time for wait but yes.
Have a good pipe or 2 .: - /

Hey easygrowing,

They seemed very happy with the light cycle, would have been nice to have had the freedom to lower it a bit in the last month though to help them finish. Have fun with the malawis, a cross with nepalese sounds divine:tiphat:

kinda leaving the web community, got some study i need to finish so no jumping on forums everyday until its done. theres some good lads around that have taught me plenty. bit sad but thanks for those who have put the info out there.

cheers

Good luck with your grow and your studies:)

That was a real nice read hoots,it seems you ve had a great moment growing these girls.
I m happy for you and Thx for that moment.:ying:

Cheers maxibiogreen,

Before I germinated the seeds it seemed like it would be a very long time to wait for the harvest but the minute they were up they have held my attention and the time has flown by. Every toke makes me know every second spent on it was worth it.

Gonna pop a few GTs next so i´m well happy after looking at those huge&pretty things.
Well done hoots!

Excellent paulo73, your in for a fun ride with the GT's , they wander in places I haven't been before:)

bang up job and great smoke reports!

Cheers cocktail frank, definite sense of relief and pleasure having managed to get them from one end to the other. So much to go wrong and so little did, good genetics makes the job SOOOOOOOO much easier. Stay good!

been trying a little of the green panama so smoke report soon, taking seeds out of her bud last night and the finger hash refused to roll up, just kept getting creamier and creamier with the most amazing aromas. Top class stuff!!!

Thought this was a nice photo of the f1 Malawi2 x Lowryder#2 cross. Started with 18 females and now have 13, kept in small pots and I am pleased to see the leaves thinning as I thought the LR#2s thicker leafs would come through more.

Nice to see your cross Hoots. I made some crosses with the original Lowryder, but it was best when recrossed to another potent variety. I have read reports that the newer Lowryder has been improved. The old version was a mold magnet and not potent at all. I really haven't tried any of the new generation of autoflwers, but i had success and was pleased with Iranian autoflower, though it is more a light sensitive variety. I seem to recall that one did not work for your far northern location.

Hoots, I just read over the last few pages, well done taming those pure sativas. They look incredible, great job on the genetics dubi. I gotta get some of the Malawis, the high sounds really nice, and will be good breeding material. I can see why you crossed the Malawi to the Lowryder2, ought to be good as a F1. If I had enough cash I'd try the GT, but I have my eye on the Congo.

Your descriptions and smoke reports were great!

sounds like a good idea, those strong Africans might provide the power the the earlier "autos" were missing + the possible auto tendencies in african weed already (that i just recently learned about) might make for an easier transition. i know an auto nevils haze was made, the person who made it was pretty proud i think and the f5's were said to be the best from it. ive never ordered autos before but just saw the so called nsw marijuana eradication squad thingy only operates 6 months a year. there could be some space.

still got 3 gts going, slowed from transfer n maybe adding some feed to soil while i was at it. moving to organics, using up some rhizotonic, 1 didnt like it very much but im confident, just waiting to overgrow my tent of course.

Interesting insights about breeding with autos .... i guess you need to breed a few generations away from the original sativa x rudelaris F1 to avoid the nasty rudelaris effects and yields and to find the best balance of sativa traits in a 100% auto line. Not easy to achieve but the short cycles of the auto breeding helps to speed up the process.

Good stuff everyone,

About a week away from harvesting the malawi x LR#2 F1's, resin looking really good , heavily seeded so hard to tell how they would have grown otherwise. Very similar plants between 12 females but smells range from beery lowryder to pure malawi. Once my bangi hazes have finished I will then run as many F2's as I can fit in on 24 hrs and hopefully find the autos at about 3 weeks for going outside. Really looking forward to seeing what the F2's turn up.

There seems to be a few different stories as to what makes up the original LR but I have got 2 ruderalis from Lake Baikal starting to grow so I am curious to see what the real thing looks like. Most autos seem to have LR somewhere in the mix and it seems to be a really hard influence to breed out.

The mold issue with LR and her offspring is a big problem for me and where I live. The malawi cross is one that is teaching me about the process and hopefully will work out well but it is the Bangi that excites me most. It seems to have the mold and cold resistance for my part of the world and so I crossed them with the ogre an auto by SGS hopefully with alot less LR and a bit more sativa influence. Ogre looking really good but I was concerned as I had read in the bangi sticky, Dubi that you mentioned that a cross with bangi and Indica could loose the electric high. As most autos have indica in them somewhere I was a bit stumped.

I am now in the process of growing out a supposed auto thai landrace called thaipan from sabe seeds. I say supposed as it seems almost to good to be true but from what I have seen from others grows it has a very sativa nature. Even in the case of a grow further south than me where it was harvested and then grew on again for a second harvest. Males only grow short and stumpy and flower quick and are done. Females are auto but I think flower in a more thai way and can take awhile to flower.

Heres a male at about 3 weeks. I don't think will get much bigger. Good clusters of flowers appearing in last day or two.

There is talk of hermis appearing indoors though none outdoor. The 3 females all had male preflowers at first node to show but only female since. The 'male' preflowers are starting to grow into leafy masses so I will see how they do. The females can get very big!
picture.php

I'm not experienced enough to know if they are showing definite thai traits but they are very sturdy and could provide me an answer to a bangi cross that would grow out by me and keep the pure sativa high.

Oh aye , and I haven't forgotten about the photos of dried buds or finishing smoke reports and I can assure you all that the smoke testing has been very thorough . In fact so thorough there have been casualties( and thats no joke. Golden tiger is rightly warned). And what a wonder the curing process is , Mmmmmmmmmm.........all proving to be very tasty!

Photos up soon,

Very interesting Hoots,

Hope you can find the desirable auto malawi you are looking for :) Malawi sativa genes will improve the mold resistance of the LR genes, that's for sure but for that matter i think Bangi Haze is even better candidate to produce an early auto sativa for your climate. Best wishes!

Cheers dubi,

Just harvested malawi x lr#2 and out of 13 most had LR aromas but 4 had eye watering pure malawi smell. Good resin too so looking good! Not long for the bangis to go, love them already:biggrin:

Thanks for that ValleyKush!

Just harvested last weekend two cuttings.

Both were about 6 month bonsai mothers that had got a little big so i took cuttings from them and put them into flower. Both went under 600w for duration and ended up looking just like their seed mothers! Finished in about 14 weeks so knocked about 5 or 6 weeks off original grow. Both were evenly finished this time to.

Green panama bonsai cutting,

Howdy!

Im interested about how the LR2XMalawi project turned out!

Something Im sure would be VERY interesting to try growing if it is as good as I hope it could/should be!

One thing would be to cross the Auto Malawi again to a pure Malawi/GT (plus the additional crosses to make it Auto) and so enhance the sativa trait of the plant. This I guess would be a third generation AF plant!

I really really hope you continue with the project! (something I would do IF I had the means to do it!)

Regards,

H
