psychiatrist told me to stop smoking weed when i started taking the pills. didn't tell me they would interfere or anything, told me "god wouldn't like it" fast forward some 3-4 years. im all fucked up now thanks to those pills and the only thing keeping me sane is weed.

Yeah, it's kinda bad when doctors realize the worst thing weed does is make the otherwise lazy folks even lazier.

This one is easy - fire your doctor - and feel free to be loud about how uninformed she is. Doctors are self important turds, firing them feels good, then tell the new doctor you fired the old one for being incompetant. Make sure they know they are dealing with a man not a sheeple.

As far as cannabis causing cancer, I think it has been shown not to cause cancer well enough so far. Cannabis has been made a scapegoat by the US government for going on a hundred years. Plenty of 'scientists' that have done studies on the harm of pot have a negative agenda and are really wanting a negative outcome.

Either directly funded by government meanies or just brainwashed by all the hype, they look for the bad and have not really found it for certain. After all this time and effort to find brain damage and cancer and they failed to definitely prove it, kinda proves the opposite as far as I am concerned.

You need another psychiatrist STAT.
If my Dr. told me that 'God wouldn't like it', I would know right away that this guy is far crazier than I am.

I have no problem with people who believe in god or whatever floats their boat but metaphysical musings do not belong in a professional diagnosis or treatment.
A competent physician would know this.

I was getting migraines every day and never knew why. The headaches were so bad I would have to go lay down in a dark, quiet room with an icepack on my head. I finally figured out that my body was very sensitive to caffeine, and I was drinking a 2 liter of Pepsi a day. After I stopped drinking it the headaches were completely gone. I went from having headaches every single day to not having a headache in 4 years. Try staying away from caffeine for a while, and remember, it is found in alot of products (iced tea, numerous sodas, energy drinks, some chocolates) read the ingredients on the back most products say if it has caffeine, but some disguise it as another name for instance on Arizona Iced Tea it just says "Tea Mix" or somthing like that.

Yes it's truly unfortunate how ignorant the medical community is. It's been very frustrating for me being so young with chronic pain and very severe migraines. Like you, cannabis is the ONLY thing able to alleviate my migraines, and trust me, they make me want to die when they get really bad and I'm a person who has at least a little nerve pain every second of the day.

It sucks, but especially in non-med states it's best to just keep quiet about it. The human race just isn't intelligent and understanding enough as a whole. Cannabis laws will probably changes, but the ignorant people who can't think for themselves will ALWAYS be out there. People who think it's totally okay to look down on you for using a medicine...

Smoking cannabis has been a blessing, but it has definitely adversely effected my life in a bad way. NOT from it's actual health effects, but from the ignorance of people. I smoke because of my pain, but because I smoke this miracle herb I am denied PROPER MEDICAL TREATMENT from pain management clinics which is where I should rightfully be considering half my body is crippled in nerve pain. It's a fun and fair live we live, eh?

Good luck to everyone here, keep toking, stay safe and steer clear of the rabid monkeys who would see us thrown in jail.

your statements hits the nail on the head imo.

people ask:

why share that you use cannabis with your doctor?

the answer is quite simple: it is an extremely effective medicine for all sorts of diseases.

from physical, emotional, mental and even spiritual diseases.

sorry mrcreosote for adding the 'spiritual' disease part and mixing metaphysical concepts with "real" ones. :D

some people (myself included) have told their doctors that they use cannabis and would like to receive a medical recommendation to use it without having to worry about the stupidity of cannabis' illegal state.

I'm in a place where medical cannabis is legal, period. it does not depend on which state you are. Its medical properties are recognized by the government lets say.

so having a doctor try bullshit me about cannabis in a country like this should only result in telling your doctor he's an idiot; something that I did not do, I was very polite and as he told me his ignorant anti-cannabis rant, I listened carefully until he ended, then I told him, "good, but I disagree with you, so I'm going to see someone else about this"; the doc then told me: "good, go see someone else". I stood up, tried to shake his hand, which he ignored and left me 'hanging', then I walked out the office and went about my business.

A view point from a younger mindset...and perhaps this has been stated as I didn't read the entire thread, but, MPD...

A doctor is your EMPLOYEE. You pay them to perform a given service / duty. If you are not happy with the performance of your hired professional, FIRE THEM. Plain and simple. There is always another doctor who can treat and care for you...even given your intensive medical history.

I say this only because I feel you'll be discriminated against by this "professional" now...and such a comment within personal medical records can certainly affect your insurance in regards to what they will approve given you use "illicit drugs".

I'd NEVER tell my doctor I use cannabis. No need. Until folks start falling over dead from it, I don't need medical opinion to say I should consume this plant. And even if folks were dying, I STILL wouldn't need a doctor to tell me it is dangerous...lol. Geeeez. In my opinion, MMJ belongs in the "don't ask, don't tell" catergory...

An important thing to consider is how this fellow was treated by a major well known hospital here in a legal state.

I told my GP, and then told my spine surgeon and other specialists of my use, which is mostly in tea. None objected but I did get some unedjucated comments from some of them. After hearing of this case I might have not done so if I had to do it over again.

I think some posters here are quite correct though..it can be a huge issue depending on the doctor and thier beliefs. most doctors are not up to speed on the current bennefits or problems asscoiated with cannabis. Be well...DD

Norman B. Smith, the 63-year-old cancer patient at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles who was denied a liver transplant because he used medical marijuana, says in a new interview that it’s probably too late for him to make a recovery even if he could get the surgery he needs.

Diagnosed three years ago with inoperable liver cancer, Smith was prescribed medical marijuana by Cedars-Sinai oncologist Steven Miles to help his patient deal with the effects of chemotherapy. Then Smith became eligible for a liver transplant, but was removed from the list after testing positive for marijuana.
