nature uses many different triggers to accomplish this
only time weeds out the winners-no pun intended
you want botrytis resistence? no need to get the likes of monsatan involved
you need space and 4-8 growing seasons to isolate and establish the botrytis resistant lines. both unfortuantely are at a premium these days

You wouldn't believe the number of people on a certain predominantly UK forum talking about "that GM skunk." It's like "I like Cannabis, but I won't touch that skunk - it does me 'ed in. It's all GM and filled wif chemicals."

NO ^^ Cannabis has been bred and selected by humans based on genetics,, but never 'engineered' until recent years.

Engineering requires tools and machinery.

Please read Chimera's post above (#109)

That is the point I was trying to make, is that domestication is ultimately early genetic engineering. Selecting desireable traits, removing undesireable ones. It's all semantics.

Sure, modern genetic engineering is a much more direct route to the goal, but that goal hasn't changed in 10,000 years.

engineering doesnt require tools, engineering creates tools. Does anyone know the definition of an engineer?

Mules, Hydroelectric dams, canines designed to bring down a bull, all are examples of human engineering. Human's creating, and improving tools for their disposal.

GMO is not the acronym of Genetically Engineered Organisim. Modifying an organisms genome = GMO = Genetically Modified Organism.

With all due respect Chimera, and i think he would agree, he is a seed breeder, not an editor for Merriam-Webster's dictionary.

well....a pure haze that flowers in 50 days with fat Indica nugs is something I'd be interested in....or strains that yield just as much on a 50w hps as a 1000w hps....

No, but he does have a masters degree in genetics.

Out of all of that, you pick up on the dictionary editor comment? Wow.
Not the definition of acronym or engineer, but the least on-topic statement?

So serious on-topic question.

Is creating triploid seeds, which creates plants that cant procreate, considered GMO?

Ive never heard of seedless watermelon boycotts, but its pretty fucking obvious that the genetics have been engineered to not create seeds.

Triploids are not GMOs, I answered that a few pages back.

You have to genetically engineer an organism to get a GMO. Scientists say GMO the media sometimes uses GEO. They're the same thing.

Still suffering from "if-I -write-it-on-the-internet-it-must-be-true syndrom huh soffie-troll?

Your conclusions are at odds with masses of real research on the matter... got pics to back p your claims? of course you don't.

There are literally hundreds of threads on IC and other forums discussing whorled phyllotaxy.... Sam has posted the same that whorled plants don't out-yield non-whorled plants...I've seen it myself many many times. Most often, whorled plants are MALE anyhow.

So post up those pics and prove the masses of real data wrong... you can do that, can't ch'ya trollio?

The ever un-popular (who f'kn cares LOLOL!),
-Chimera

to say that most trifoliates are males is a common response, I know as I see it time and time again, but it most definately isnt true. I'm not getting into a slinging match, my threads over the years and my galleries both new and old will back up my knowledge and experience on this matter.

I fully agree GMT, I have seen equal amounts in male & female but then again what do we know right? ;)

Maybe we should just all pat Chimera on the head and tell him how cool & smart he is then maybe he won't continue to belittle everyone about everything anybody says.
