From start of cloning to harvest 13 week scrog

And now for a catch all post.

I have up planted 5 clones from cuttings. I moved them to a shelf that has more light. It has a 8 bulb t5 fixture about 4 feet above it. Here are the little ladies in their new place.

Now some interesting stuff. I had posted a picture earlier in this thread where the roots were coming out of the stem of a Death Star clone. It was the picture with the small piece of leaf inside the bottles. Well that is the plant I potted just above this post. So I took a picture of that and am now showing you that plant again.

Now one more catch up post. I split it because I wanted to get all the pictures in one post.

What I would like to show is the Bruce Banner clones when started and when cut off. So I will repost all these pictures here for you to see.

First is the picture with all of the Bruce Banner #3 clones when started.

Next are the 1st and 2nd Bruce Banner clones. In this picture the plant on the right is the plant all the way to the right above. The plant on the left is the plant in the center above.

This next picture shows the plant that is on the left in the top picture above.

I dont know if you can see it? It looks like the clones filled in quite a bit while being cloned. What do you guys think?

It has been a rough day. I ripped most of the roots off of the last air layered Death Star. Looks like crap huh?

I planted it up anyway. I have two days till the flip so I hope it comes back. I put a bag over it and pulled it down the stake more than I did the others.

And your photo of it next to the pots.

This last picture of it shows how big it is. It is 24 inches tall.

I did another Blue Dream as well. It has some dead and yellow leaves which I pulled off for the picture. It was about 10 leaves that I removed.

First picture is of it next to two pots.

And for your root porn. Hope it is enough. Not as much as before.

And the potted plant. It is 20 inches tall from the root ball up.

It is pretty rough looking. Hoping the it will bounce back by
Monday.

I started the scrog screen construction toady. I used some crop net from Memphis Net. I am posting a link for people to find it.

http://www.memphisnet.net/category/hortonova-crop-support-netting

The net that I used is this one.

I drove nails into my wall to stretch it out enough to get a measurement of the size. Only hit my finger three times with the crappy hammer I used. Yeh. Seriously a crappy day.

So once I got it cut to size and stretched out I could cut my pipe for the screen. The pipes measure 41 inches long. The net was 39 on one side 40 on the other. And the other two sides were also 39 each. These guys must have smoked some really good stuff that day.

Now I have had my share of stuck together pipes that were a pain in the butt to get apart before. So I rubbed olive oil on the inside of my fittings so that if I wanted to take them apart I could. Once that way done I pushed all my pieces together.

Then I spread the net out between the frame. I used two zip ties in each corner. I left them lose till I had all the ties on. Then I pulled the all tight. Then I added another in the center of each net. And the final screen looks like this.

And that is where I have to stop. The fittings I have are all 1.25 inch. I have about 70 feet of 2 inch pipe and only enough 1.25 inch pipe for this frame. Since the lumber yard closed like 4 minutes after I got to this point I have to stop tonight.

So I cleaned out the room today and hung the hood.

I also went to the store and picked up more pipe for the scrog screen. I put legs on the one I built yesterday and put it in the room.

Above you can see the top screen that I built as well. I went to my plants to see how high I would need the screen of the floor. It only needed to be 14.5 inches. I only have 7 foot to the ceiling. That only leaves me 47 inches from the scrog screen to the hood. That is why it is so low. It is going to be hard to train to the screen in the back.

Because of my height restriction I have to forgo a tray under the plants. That means I cant move the screen once the plants are on. It also means watering is going to be difficult.

Speaking of watering I will be topping my coco with NAPA 8822 floor dry. It will act as a mulch to keep the pots from drying to fast. It is 100% DE.

One of the things about it is that it turns gray when wet and white when dry. Because of this I can keep a eye on how fast the pots dry out with out lifting them. When they turn white I water them. When they are white every day that I water I know the roots have filled the pot. At this point I can do multiple waterings if I choose too.

This is what I need because at most these plants have 5 days of veg. So I have no idea how many roots they have.

I sifted the floor dry to get the fines out. I use a fan to blow the dust away from where I am working. This dust is not good to breath. But if you point the fan at your veg you dust your plants with DE. And that is what I did.

Speaking of DE dust here is what I will be using on my plants when they go into flower.

Now if you use the floor dry to top your pots you need to treat it like the coco. It is a zoelite. What that means is that it locks on to trace minerals. It is used as a filter because of this in industry to grab metals and other contaminants.

So what I do is sift it with this thing. Took it from my wife. haha. Yes she does still have stuff to cook with.

After I sift it it goes into a paint strainer like the coco and dipped in some nutrient solution. I put it in as I sift it.

The picture above shows the fines that I sift out. It also shows the white DE that I am left with. I put some of the wet DE in the middle so you can see what that looks like as well.

Tomorrow is the day I plan to place the plants to the screen. I still have to mount the fan and duct work. I also have to get a adapter for the hood.

I have my duct connected to my hood and fan now.

And yes I had to buy a 25 foot piece of duct for 3.5 feet of it. This flat growing gets expensive.

I also put the second scrog screen on and the fans next to it.

I also cut the crap out of my arms trying to clean the glass on the inside of the hood. Yes I tried to remove it first but couldnt. So with that in mind I went and bought a cap for the end when I dust my plants.

Tonight I will get the scrog screen filled. So if I have time I will post that up tonight.

Another thing I plan on doing is monitoring how much water each pot will take. I have not done a flood yet to fill the bottoms yet. So this way I know how much to use to get my 10 to 15% run off when watering.

Um sorry putting the plants to the screen went way quicker than I thought it would. A little less than a hour to be more precise.

I will now recount what I did.

The first thing I did was clean out the lower part of the plants. I went to about 14.5 inches from the bottom of the pot. After cleaning that out I topped off each pot with NAPA floor dry.

After that I watered each plant to run off. I put the hempy bucket into a saucer to catch the run off. Each pot when watered took 4 cottage cheese containers worth of nutrient solution. The excess was about 80% of one container. So it looks like about 3.5 cottage cheese containers will give me 15-20% run off when dry.

After doing that I place the plants under the scrog. It is at this time I must tell you this thread is no longer about 9 plants. I could only get five plants under the screen. I found this out by raising the screen onto four 2 gallon pots and gently sliding the plants under the raised screen.

As you can see there is no f-ing way I can get more than 5 plants under that screen.

Once under the screen I moved branches or pots around to fill the screen. Looking at the screen the plants are in the x pattern. With the center plant shifted to the right of center.

After moving plants and branches I lowered the scrog screen down. I took out the two back pots while holding the back of the screen up. With the pots out of the way I lowered the back of the screen. While doing this I shifted branches around so they would not break.

After doing the back I did the same to the front. Here it was easier because the shorter Death Star plants are here. After all that the screen looks like this.

Then I clipped the branches to the screen here and there to spread them out.

The clips I use are the black tomato clips you see here. I love them. I can clip and unclip quickly and move them around.

The last thing I did was dust the room for bugs. Again I used this stuff here.

100% organic and non toxic unless inhaled. I have eaten this stuff before. Almost no taste but feels like fine sand.

Now when I dusted with it I turned all fans off and plugged the hood up. I will wait a couple hours for it to settle now. If you are wondering what it looks like here you go.

I closed the door to let it settle. So now the plants are getting their first dark period.

I will be running the lights during the night.

Well not much to post now. So those of you who like a lot of post are going to get sudden post with drawl. Might be more than 36 hours Marlo, sorry.

In a couple days I will show some training and thinning. I want to wait to thin till they are more established and I know if some of the branches were damage when I set the screen.

Love it bro! The time saved is amazing, the plants will full those buckets up with roots in no time. You've saved a minimum of 3 weeks vegging going by the size of the comparison clone, maybe more! How much longer until you flip the lights to bloom hours?

I flipped last night. They have now had one 12 hour dark cycle.

At this point the longest vegged plant was 5 days. The shortest veg time was 2 days.

I have 3 Bruce Banner #3 plants and 2 Death Star plants for a total of 5 plants. The Bruce Banner #3 plants are the back two and the center plant. The Death Star plants are the two front plants.

Yeh yeh yeh. No post for a couple days. Well I have some stuff to post up.

First off I forgot to show how I tag my plants when they go into flower.

I clip this tag to my screens so I dont forget things.

First off is the date I put the plants in. Not much more to say about that.

Next is the date I trim. It is 40% of the way threw flower. This tells me when stretch should be done. At this point I can start moving things around knowing that they will not stretch any more. After moving them I can trim to thin dense areas and open up the canopy. I also use this to let me know I can add sweeteners and bud boosters. In my case molasses and MKP.

Third is my expected harvest date. This lets me get my flush in on time.

Ok next I installed a reflective piece of bubble wrap on the side.

It runs down to just above my screen. I put two pieces of pipe in to keep it back from the plants.

It is just hung from some hooks in the ceiling wit my tomato clips.

I still need to make one for the front of the room. I have to figure out how I will be hooking it yet. But I will post up some thing if and when I get it up.

Also I need to post up the progress of the clones from cuttings. The 5 clones that I posted up the other day have two with roots showing.

One Bruce Banner and one Death Star are showing roots. So it took 4 days to pop out the bottom.

So for those who are new to coco coir. I posted how these were potted on the 13th. As of yet I have yet to water them. Because I did not flood them they are having no problems yet with out having to flush the media to get fresh air in. In other words the media does not have spots that are oversaturated and dead zones for oxygen.

Finally I have taken pictures of the Bruce Banner mothers.

My intent with this is to see how fast they recover for further cloning. I want to show how I prepped them prior to air layering as well. Soon I will be putting them into larger pots in the next few days.
