hey Bonz,

Yea those suckers should be thriving in that system. Two things that come to mind for you to check, is your nutrient temp possibly too cold with the chiller? I wouldn't go much lower that 68F. Also, I know on Krusty's threads he showed the use of 1/4" soaker hose for the airstone. I think these take a pretty strong air source to work right, though.

I bought some of the soaker hose from Walmart in the outdoor section for like $2.00, but haven't had a chance to try it out.

Good luck Bonz, you'll get it straightened out. peace, 900d :joint:

Howdy 900, yeah my friend who is my giude on my quest for freedom ensures me that as soon as the roots establish themselves i bit more they will take off. I have also turned down the flow a bit, i think i was giving them a little too much H20, well see. Thanks for the encouragment dude, most appreciated! Yeah you need a pretty high volume pump to run the soaker hose, most of the guys i know runnin freedoms use stones.

Howdy all, well as i lowered pressure to the feed lines i noticed that the 2 buckets at the end of the "line" were running allmost dry so i added these lil baby1/4" valves to the first 3 buckets in line giving me pretty equal flow to all 6 buckets.

Hello again, after putting alot of work into this system it just didnt seem do be performing as good as it could, plants look healthy but growth is slow. When i found the lava at Lowes i thought it was perfect. After doing a little research and a little digging around the roots it seemed to me the lava was too small, roots were growing but very tightly packed, not growing downward freely like they should. Long story short i had bought a couple big bags of lava a few months ago and was not pleased with it, only about 1/3 was actually lava but they were bigger peices. So today i spent an hour and a half picking out the pieces of lava that looked like they would work in the system. I also went and got a brand new NL x BB clone to try in the bigger lava. :woohoo:

Well see what happens.

NL x BB:

Bella givin me a hug: :D

Keepin my fingers crossed, thanks for all your support and good night.

SLEEEEPY DUDE!!!! Dude i just got back online, how the hell are ya man! i was down for 4 days! It was gnarly :yoinks: , im so used to being here everyday! Thanks for your encouregement bro, i went on another quest for lava the other day and came up empty. Thanks for bein there for me dude!

aint that somethin dude i was standin there takin pics of the back yard and bella reached up gave me a lil kitty hug :woohoo: she can only reach my knee but that was good enough, she is such a trip, dont know what i would do without her!

Brother Big Toke  , how are ya man? any advice on where to find it, i have searched rock yards and the big Home stores and none have what im lookin for. Thanks dude! :woohoo:

Howdy 900, how are ya dude?! Thanks for the thoughts, i havnt had this much trouble since, well ive never had this much trouble! thanks agian!

So heres where we stand, first a couple pics of the stunted roots that could not get through the lava i got at lowes:

Thats a 7 inch tall and pretty bushy Sensi star with that tiny root system, i cant beleive the plant was actually doin as well as it was. So what i have done is gone back to hydroton in the remaining 4 buckets, the other 2 have the larger lava. I have been reading alot about freedom bucket users trying out a hydroton/coir mix and couldnt figure out what the purpose of the coir was. Well since gettin my buckets goin with hydroton i have noticed that it doesnt wick at all, and you have to keep the feed lines right on the roots/cube or they will wilt due to lack of water. The 2 buckets with the large lava really show how good the wicking qualities of the lava are, i can put the feed lines at the edge of the bucket and the lava is moist all the way to the center keeping the roots moist. So now i think i understand the hydroton/coir concept and may give it a try. I have 1 sensi star that dont look too good and i just got a couple AK cuts that i could put in there to try the coir mix. I had a sensi star wilting in the hydroton, i literrally had to push the feed lines right into the cube to bring it back to life. Man this is one heck of a learning experience i tell ya, but i think its all gonna work out in the end.

Just so we dont leave on a down note heres a big bad girl i have in girt that is lovin life and looks to be a biggun!!!! :woohoo:

thank you my friends for comin by and ill keep ya updated on the coir idea.

peace allways, its sure good to be back online, i really missed this place and all my friends here!! :woohoo:

Ya know funny thing about the big girl in dirt, she has allways had very lite colored leaves, i tried everything with no success, then the other day i was mixin' up a gallon of nutes and decided to add a few drops of superthrive and WHAM! She turned darker green andd and perked up a bit :woohoo: . Cool huh? Thanks for comin by dude!

Yup - internet can be a bowl of laughs :badday: ...

Nice SuperThrive story - so many bad stories it's good to see a nice one - I've been using it in dilute form for years, seems to do the trick!

Yeah - I'm on kb restriction - have a tendon flareup in my wrist :badday: supposed to be completely off keyboards - yeah right, that's how I make my living... :yoinks:

I have a couple of goo plants that are in sore need of a soil change - transplanted them a week ago and they don't look well, but can't manage a soil bag or 5 gal pot yet.... may be time to setup a couple of new youngins to replace them...

Seeya!

Lava rock, lava rock, lava rock ~ Bonzo I get mine anywhere and everywhere ~ Wal-Mart, Low’s, Home Depot, and even landscaping Co.

Finding the good porice red lava rocks are tricky but the preparation will determine a good start or a bad start, that’s even trickier.

I did not realize about the size of the lava rock I bought a bag a while back and I just looked at it and it's all about 1" to 1 1/2" that way too small from the way you guys are talking. Darn I have to go back to the landscape place and see if they have larger. Does it matter what color it is because I think the grill lava is black that you can get in WalMart.

Hello Hello Hello!!!!!! Im back! How the hell are yall!? goddang good to see ya!!!

howdy MGJ! welli just kept gettin retarded repair dudes, check this out the guy that came yesterday who kicked ass and got me back online in no time at all noticed a flyer i had sitting on my desk from one of my med clubs(oops) any how turned out hes a member too! It took a stoner to get me back online!! He went to Hempfest in Seattle and did some judging there, he asked me if i grew and i said a little but not at the moment. He is just starting to grow so i gave him a handfull of my Golden Skush F2s and got his phone #, I didnt feel comfortable showing him my garden at the moment, you know what actually i did i got great vibes from this guy, anyhow he turned me on to a club i havnt been to yet and we are gonna stay in touch. Pretty cool huh?

No doubt Sleepy dude! , hows it goin man? Im a bit nervous im not much of a dirt guy, but shit the way my luck has been going maybe its what i need to do, i dont know i just wanna make it through flower. This Ocean Forrest soil seems to be pretty darn good stuff.

Brother Big Toke! whats crackin dude? I dont know man but i finally located the lava i have been seeking and im gonna get a real rez, im tired of using rubbermaids!

Howdy Secret Room! The guy that is showin me the ropes in this here freedom deal uses 2" to 3" chunks, very pourus and yes the closest thing i could find was the BBQ stuff but at 5 bucks a bag and prolly 3 bags to fill 1 of my buckets i was out of the question. I have located 2" highly pourus chunks for 5 bucks a bag that the sales lady said would cover 5 square feet on the ground, seems to me that would fill a 3,5 gallon bucket.

So here we go with my brand new dirt farm, i had a 4 x 6 foot flood tray that fit real well in the flower room for water protection purposes. So far so good, knock on wood! Heres the fun part i just had a hunch and popped into one of my local clubs and heres a peek at what i got: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :yoinks: :yoinks: :yoinks:

The whole room:

So good to be back and good to see you guys, thanks so much for comin by!!!!

Good mornin BT, yeah its comin along, thanks, that ocean forrest is goos stuff. Ya know i hope they do to BT, i just wanna get a system tight and right with a couple strains i know fairly well and get a few good solid runs in ya know?

heres the test run of the cloner, i bought the neoprene collar thingies, just didnt feel like fiddlin' with a homemade version. I used a 1" 1/2" holesaw but prolly shoulda went with 1" 5/8" , they fit a little tight but should work fine. Im using both of my GH Blustone air pumps, one just didnt give me the bubble action im lookin for. Anyhoo next pics there should be some lil clonies in there! :woohoo:

peace dude

BONZ

be right back forgot to upload pics
