Hey all, fairly new to the IC and appreciate the opportunity to glean info from everyone's experience. I've got many fine fine choice beans ready for the long outdoor season at 26N and was hoping anyone in the know can offer advice on when is a good start date for germing in order to maximize veg time and have flower start in late July/early August?

Thanks!

Welcome Cool Moe!
I think I'm a bit N of you but it's been my experience here in Fl that pretty much anything short of Sativas' will flower as soon as you put them outside no matter what time of the year it is down here.
I put out a ww in April and it finished flowering by July4th. Also put out some Grapefruit/Blueberry in the middle of the summer and they flowered as well.
What strains you thinking of running?

Thanks evlme2 and Ghostwolf for the welcome.

Evl yes I am south down in Collier. Are you starting with clones outdoor or from seed? I was thinking that from seed it'll take at least 30 days to approach the maturity required for flower and was hoping that with a 4/20 germ date then straight outside these would notice the days getting longer and hold off on flower until near end of July when the days get shorter. That is the goal at least--12 weeks of veg. Last year I started some killer indica bagseed in early May and while they showed preflower at about 4 weeks by end of June they were big bushes with still no sign of flower. Unfortunately I didn't know my ass from my elbow and killed them from lack of proper nutrients. Glad though that the only one that survived into September gave me at least 300 beans. Done a lot of research since then and strains this year are Godbud, Pinewarp, Skunkberry, Northernberry, RKS, Chuck D, Menage a Trois, and Rezdog's 4sd that I luckily scored on Monday (fingers crossed that it gets here safe).

Everything that I put outside starts its life indoors, clones and plants from seed.
So far, the only plant that hasn't flowered on me during the summer was a Thai/HazeXSkunk (Sams). I put it outside along with my WW mom (in April) and it got 8ft tall before security became an issue and I had to chop her. It vegged all summer while the WW was done by July4th.

Thanks for the greet Spicoli, keepin' it green is my goal, at least until they turns purple or frosty white...Evl2 I think that anything you put from 18/6 to outdoors in FL will turn right away. I'm not positive but based on a video I saw from ASA Hawaii and also from my experience last year, if you start outdoors from seed around late April/early May they'll stay in Veg until around the end of July/early August then depending on strain they'll finish flower from end Sept on. The key is never showin' em 18/6. I will have lots to report as the year goes on. Good to be here.

You better believe it! The thing was the biggest MJ tree I ever saw with my own eyes. I still shed a tear over her...

I don't doubt that one bit. I've never started an MJ plant from seed outdoors. How ironic is that?
As an aside, I noticed the Godbud in your list of strains.( Spicoli, do you remember the Godbud from that day? Ogh might. Lotsa tree smoked that day:whistling:) That strain is soooo freaking sweet smelling and tasting!

Evl, I had big plans for the Godbud as part of a current bean farming/strain crossing project that I have going now. I've read a lot of good reports on it but have never tried it. Glad to hear that you like it. Ran into some trouble though in that only 1 of 12 beans germed and grew. Don't know yet if it's a boy or girl and obviously I don't get to choose phenotypes but it will still be part of a cross one way or another. The Godbud source is very much on top of the non-germs and has already sent replacements, service from them has been excellent. I'll have 'em in place for 4/20 and I hope they pop 'cause they are gonna be a big part of the summer mix.

I'm very good friends with the person who is still growing the Godbud over near O town (in fact, its the only strain he's grown the last 5 years), you got me thinking about getting a cut of her now.
Indeed Spicoli, she was fruity and expansive.

Thanks Igot, believe it or not I read through most of this forum dating back to the start and defnitely noticed that Evl and Spicoli are solid, long-term contributors to the thread. I'm psyched to have gotten greets from them and will do my best to share the worthy pics as they develop.

I agree Cool Moe.

Yeah...for a forum, I gotta say that the people here are as friendly as it gets.
Prolly the nature of the topic, a substance that suppresses or eliminates aggressiveness and provokes thoughtfulness and kindness. Or maybe everyone here is just really kind and nice without the herb anyway.

Not sure how it happens but one thing I have noticed...there are more brains than ego in this group...a lovely imbalance which I hope will remain in perpetuity and keeps me coming back.
