Yeah I wear sunglasses so I can stare at them beautiful girls for much longer. Or, if my glasses are missing, I just put my hand to cover the hps light. I don't want to ruin my good eyesight.

what people don't realize is that bright blue/purple light is an eye killer.
yes, there's a reason your eyes go 'oh no' when you look at a brilliant blue/white 6500k light source
the eye's defense mechanism for uv light is in the surface of the eye and is absorbed there - hence cataracts later one
but blue light makes it right through and causes very harmful photochemical changes inside your eyes - they eye's natural defense for this is lutien, a yellow pigment that is supposed to build up in the eye from the diet which is now lacking it
anyway, long story short - if you've got metal halides going (veg) wear rootbeer tinted uv400 quality sunglasses, and not cheap shit either, and NOT yellow, those cause your eyes to dilate and let more light in
if you have hps' going, wear dark grey uv400
never look directly at an hid element
i don't do either, my friends basement has shoplights & cfls everywhere so he just powers off he hids and turns those on and life is good
I guess I don't need to tell anyone how dangerous a cracked halide is, emitting UVC?
I prefer to stare at the plants rather than the lights. yuk yuk
this. as long as you arent staring into the bulb it should be no different than being outside in the sun, you dont stare at the sun do you?I prefer to stare at the plants rather than the lights. yuk yuk
