Extraction with diethylic ether

Thank's for your feed back locoporo ;)
Is it possible i crystalyse the oil with the diethylether without knowing it
in fact i think that when you did it at ambiant temperature , you disolved the ether in the water because ether is a little soluble in water at 20-22°c( exactly 70ml of ether per litter of water at 20°c) so their was no more ether to disolve the cannabinoïds so their precipitates giving you this strange result.

I used methanol to do an extraction and you end up with a gooey sludge the color of black Italian marble - it had gray streaks in it and some greenish gray hues perhaps, but I have problems with colors so don't get hung up on it. Put it in the freezer (in standard wax paper) and it turns into a rock. You shave off of it with an exacto blade and melt it in your pipe and oh, boy. It really hits you like a blast. You sweat, you groan, you panic. Pain? Yeah, I had this terrible headache (as usual) but the intensity is now gone from a 7 to a 3. Very doable.

Lots of ways to play ball, one ball to play with.
:yoinks::yoinks::yoinks::yoinks: you realy played with your life!!! Methanol is realy extremly toxic , it can blind you if you absorbe such as tiny amouts as 10ml or so!!And kill you at bigger amounts .Dude you were very closed to killed you doing this extraction!Even diethylic ether is toxic , methanol is worst!

Oh for crying out loud!

As long as you aren't drinking the stuff, methanol is certainly no more toxic than toluene, isopropyl or any of the other solvents people are discussing in this thread.
There are trace amounts in any wine or beer you've ever consumed, and in lots of liquor too.

I don't think baseless fear mongering adds to the knowledge-sharing much....

will rubbing alcohol that reads 95% ethanol work well for extraction?
only other available was 70% iso, hope i got the right one....

Hey, you're the guy who likes to claim that people have some sort of ego problem. Maybe you wouldn't feel so inferior if you weren't so wrong all the time.

Very intersting thread thanks!

I go for a QUICK 20 second wash, and I mean the sample CANNOT be in the alcohol for longer than 25 seconds IF you expect a moldable, hard end result.
Is that frozen or out of the freezer in that form?
I've never seen alcohol or any other extract (supposedly Co2, not sure though.) get hard candy, I've only seen BHO get golden and hard candy OUT of the freezer in room temps out of these we're discussing. I've never seen Ether extractions, very interesrting thanks again for sharing!...

very cool, thanks.

I have heard that using ether (di-ethyl) was one of the most common ways to make hash oil before bho or qwiso, like in the 60's and 70's. I smoke hash oil in 1980 for the first time, and I think it was made with ether.

it makes sense that it would be a good solvent for this, and of course is safe from a consumption standpoint since it is just a highly volatile hydrocarbon.

but. as probably mentioned before, the reason its not used as much is that it is watched, since people huff ether, (diethyl ether is the old anesthetic gas), and it is highly explosive.

worse yet, if you let a can of diethyl ether sit for too long with the cap slightly ajar, certain types of peroxide crystals form at the cap interface and can explode when you open the can. of course not a common problem, but a well known concern when ether was used as an anesthetic.

very cool. be careful.

It's watched because it's used to defat the solution you get after you dissolve your pseudo in acetone, also watched. Let's not forget the days before the CIA released the baking soda technique for producing a distributable form of freebase cocaine, too. But they used petroleum ether in the old literature anyway when they weren't using ethanol or chloroform, not diethyl. Rick Simpson must have picked those journals up and decided naphtha was the way to go. He seems like the type to study scientific literature.

acetone

acetone

Really Sam, just a quick one on your views of acetone as a solvent

I did use if when i first started then i heard of BHO and never went back

I am interested in what other plant oils it would extract also that alkanes would leave behind. Are these other organics of any use to the medical user or the stoner/ both?

I know acetone should not be used as a solvent, i am just interested in your professional opinion for this question.

PLEASE DO NOT USE ACETONE THIS IS A THEORY QUESTION ONLY

Acetone is just like isopropyl alcohol in shape but it's smaller and more tightly bonded. For various reasons this makes it more powerful as a solvent than isopropyl while selecting at roughly the same level. The problem is they stink up the stuff you get in the stores since pure acetone smells so delicious. It wouldn't just extract oils it would extract crystalline things and powders.

Is there a safe way to purge acetone or is it best left alone and use a alcohol instead of a ketone

I also want to pick your brain about forcing solutions/ agents at some point if that is ok please

Wasn't trying to put a point on it, that's really what they do to purge it. A quick Google reveals that forcing solutions do indeed have effects in promoting ripening, and that they are comprised of 2% sucrose and 200 ppm 8-hydroxyquinoline citrate. Branding would seem like a matter of personal preference.

can i ask about GH ripen

from what i know it only is ionic salts with no calcium and large sulfate overdose

it any use or just a flowering recipe

just what ones to use on cannabis and what others to avoid

what about playing about with divalent ions Hg, Se ( yes selenium) and any with a ionic radius 15% that of CA++

Jasmonic acid, any use

Sorry for the questions but you are the only person on Earth who can answer this correctly with a scientific background

You know that Hg is mercury right? GH Ripen sounds more like a flowering nutrient blend than a forcing solution. I know for a fact that GW Pharmaceuticals grows the feedstock for their medicine using methods you'd find familiar; you will find more skilled growers on ICmag, however. GW's definitely not using experimental growth procedures to produce their oil.

Good day RS

Yes i do know that Hg is the heavy metal mercury and the dangers it represents.

Reason i ask as i know the Japanesse have been experimenting with divalents and Hg gave a result.

http://www.jbc.org/content/271/29/17411.full

I am trying to see if something less toxic can be used (ie hydroxycobalin for Co++) or what other results can be achieved by interchanging divalents. I am very interested in what maybe certain grigands or other d block chelates might do, what reactions take place
