Ethylene seed treatment

Thanks for the advice - I have aloe to use and I'm gonna build a cloner as I have some sativa's that I'm gonna cross to get some f1s- cloning simply doesn't work unless it's sativa or sativa dom so I'm just gonna stick with what I know

Seed Whore
Treatment of hempseed with ethylene gas will increase the resulting number of female plants by about 50%. Ethylene is produced by certain plants (i.e., bananas, cucumbers and melons), and these can be used to treat hempseed in a simple manner. About two weeks before you plan to sprout the seeds, place them in a paper bag or envelope and put that in a plastic bag with the peels of a ripening banana or cucumber. Replace the peels after a couple of days, and change the bags to prevent mold.

Thats interesting, I have some regular male/ female autoflower seeds that I think I'm gonna try out this "Nanner gas tek" with and see if I can observe an average female ratio increase. What the hell, worth a try. Game on, thread starter yardy1986, I'd try this too, because you can. :)

Brother you live in Jamaica, you should not need to buy clone juice or clone powder.

First, you must thoroughly understand how to make clones with only fresh water, not the tap water.

Keep your cutting in a cup of fresh water, and drain the water and pour new water every 2 days.

After 10-14 days you will see the white bumps on the stem starting your new roots, maybe you see some small root tails but those will be much thinner than the big solid white root bumps.

You want to have even 15 or 20cm of stem in the water so you have that many more root starts.

Once you have your root starts you want to remove the plant from the water and immediately give it a home in moist soil.

Cover the moist soil with a healthy layer of dry grass or straw or leaves. Make sure you have plenty of leaves to catch sun rays too and make sure your stem with the root bumps is all in contact with the soil.

Be gentle in the whole process.

Make a nice hole for the stem and hold it in place before pushing the soil into the hole and lightly press the soil to keep the plant standing up.

If you can find clear plastic bottle to cover the plant do this.

You can be doing this whole process indoors with indirect light from the window or under shade cloth outside. The sun will burn up your plant under that plastic. The plastic is to keep the humidity high but not wet! To make sure your soil and roots do not dry out.

You want to be misting the plant and keeping the soil moist but not wet all the while.

After 10-14 days your plant will suddenly begin to explode with growth and looking happy again and then you can take to sun wherever you like.

Now for your clone powder you live in Jamaica so this resource is free if you can find your way around to some places.

Go to the beach and collect the sea kelp in a large sack. Rinse the sea kelp in fresh water to get away all of the salt. Dry the sea kelp under the sunlight and make sure the wind or rain does not mash or wet it up. Turn your kelp into powder, now you have a free clone powder.

Another way is to find the Willow tree. Take the willow bark and soak it in fresh water for 24 hours. Dip your clone in the willow bark water.

You can practice mixture of the willow bark tea with the kelp or you can add fruit peels and soak them too, just be irie with it.
Don't think you will find willow trees on the island, on the other hand coconut trees are plenty over there.Coconut water is what you'll need.

Thanks for the replies everybody im going to sow some of the seeds i treated with the banana method and see the male/female ratio- coconut water has never worked for me but I've only ever watered with it once after reading seeds sst thread- I do everything it says in the seed sst threads rinsing etc but that has never worked for me either although I know it works- there is a white willow in Westmoreland which is the parish that I live strangely - out here seeds tend to be sold as a quarter of a gallon (1 liter) so treating them with gas will greatly boost yields as much less males- our outdoor sog style of grow yields really low (1/2 to 3/4 ouncebut not in spring nd short day yields)and tends to be filled with Hermie's which is why I'm going to order purple max

I'm very aware of your cannabis scene over there as I lurk on forums a lot but out here is very basic which is why my sativa hybrids crosses that I'm gonna make to boost yields to hopefully 3 or more oz which being sat Dom will allow me to take branches and make life much easier for me and other people- i sowed some seeds once in a cell tray and there were two pumpkin seeds sandwiched together in once of the cells unbeknownst to me until the MJ seed in that cell started looking like Goliath but when I transplanted the seedlings I found the pumpkin seeds- it seems somehow the pumpkin vine had given them germination energy but only 80% which prevented germination but the cannabis seeds I sowed in the cell accessed the energy and were visibly larger than the others but try as I might I can't get it to work and I've read about the great success people are having with it- sorry about the long post but no one out here understands like you guys do -they say terps like cookies are lab produced and not real but I've had a strain that smelled like red stripe light out here so they don't know anything -ironically it was one of the plants in the pic on the first page that had this scent too

Ethephon is used to ripen bananas, so it is obviously safe to use on cannabis before sex is determined. The fruit peel under the cannabis plant thing doesn't sound efficient, with all the fans and wind and whatnot. Cannabis experts like to waste peoples time on wild goose chases if you haven't noticed. Always collecting food scraps and what not. Just buy the product that actually works. Monterey-MLGNLG4100-Florel-Growth-Regulator/dp/B001AHANY0/

On the other hand, there are people who will go out of their way to buy products that they really don't need, or don't need THAT much of. I also use a fermentation method to clean tomato seeds, when i suppose i could buy a big bottle of something.

See what i did there? Not even so much as an insult

I dunno, this technique was talked about and used, many years ago. They put the newly harvested seeds near a ripe banana peel, and put both under a bowl to trap the natural gasses from the ripening peel. After a time under the bowl, the seeds were stored as usual, i think.

If i remember right, they got a higher percent of females...not sure but 70% is sticking in my memory banks.

I didn't hear anything about hermies, or don't recall. It might make those 'maybe female, maybe male' seeds decide to go full girl, instead of hermie, i dunno.

This was the 'original' designation of the word 'feminized', back then. ( ...and when a plant was reversed, they were called 'female seed'. ) This was maybe only the terminology used in that particular circle.

So...if you don't want to go ordering chems, just use a cheap old nanner peel.
Hahaha… you know what too much ethylene does to gentleman right…?

Same as this; you old hippies know it as florel (way overpriced for % active ingredient) but really what we’re talking about is ethephon… edit upon further reading I see one popped in lol…..

Anyone only playing with their ladies is really missing out…..

Now everyone, if you only had one seed left of your favorite line…. Do you want it to be M or F and why….

This s/b a very easy question…..?

XY = male
XX = female

Females turned to male have only XX so when bred to a normal female XX the result is always XX, female.

Males turned to female are XY so when bred to a normal male XY the results are half the seeds are XY male, and 25% are XX female, And 25% YY male if they can survive, because YY often do not.

Try this , use XY x XY as the parents.

XY x XY

...X Y
X XX XY
Y XY YY

Genotype Frequencies:
XX: 1 ( 25% ) female
XY: 2 ( 50% ) male
YY: 1 ( 25% ) male if it lives

Eve is known also as Adam's wife. According to the second chapter of Genesis, Eve was created by God (Yahweh) by taking her from the rib (side) of Adam, to be Adam's companion.

Well fwiw my movie clip from Indiana Jones was solely to say choosing male was a wise decision…. If you watched that clip you’d realize such, it’s painstakingly clear… and only 5 seconds long -

and I’m all science over here… trying to share some knowledge above; if previous grudges & gripes b/w others prevents such that’s too bad and where egos should fall by the wayside imho for the benefit of info flow & science…

These days science sure feels way more emotional than it’s ever before, it also lacks rigor & truth & testing & requires ego dissolution and especially the desire, craving to be proven wrong…. Only then, can you ever be truly right, albeit brief and until proven wrong again… rinse & repeat…

That’s science yo

Peace

Not critical of your post, @led05, i was just going to make a joke, but harmless jokes about religion just don't go over, these days. So, i edited. I think what lost my friend was not a joke, but just a comment about how one person insinuated that only a certain sect could have morals and i disagreed. I'm thinking that the REAL definitions of things is getting real twisted, these days. People are led to believe a word is something that it definitely is NOT (like socialism, communism, etc) Didn't know that the word 'moral' was somehow transformed into only being held by one faction. It would be nice if everyone still knew how to look up words in dictionaries or encyclopedias, my gosh, so easy with all the new technology, but i guess too much work.

Anyway, if this post is too off topic, i can certainly delete. Just didn't want to lose another online friend, over a misinterpretation.

Good people. Really good people. Just...entrenched? My take on it is...the deeper the entrenchment, the harder to see over the edge. I was there, once. Managed to crawl over the edge, tho. (probably into another trench, altogether, ha)
