What a horrible, unconstitutional and senseless construction of a martyr.

Wow... been following this story on-and-off for a few years now after reading about Eddy Lepp in the Cannabible 2. At that time DEA fuckheads had just raided him and torn down his garden. People donated plants from all around to get things back up. Thought this was still that same instance but believe it's a seperate issue.

Can't believe this is the direction it's now headed in... damn. Stay strong, Eddy Lepp! Some time soon, hopefully, things will change and people will wake the fuck up.

And that reminds me... some of you people posting are straight up dick brains. Seriously. This is the thread you use to stroll through and act condescending? No one cares if you're just "being realistic" or wondering "what did he expect?" What's to expect? What is realistic? It seems naturally reasonable to think you wouldn't outlaw a plant that grows in nature. Even if it is against the government's law, the worst straw man argument ever made. Really. It's not about knee jerking and saying oh, poor Eddy! It's about realistically viewing the situation as thus: a man is going to jail for growing a plant. Really?

Nothing changes if people just accept the status quo, whether because it's "illegal" or because Mommy said so. Keep doing what you're told like good little sheep. No one will remember you and nothing will ever change because of you. But at least you'll be "safe", right? Hahahaha!

Our government pisses off so many people around the world with the drug war, it is putting the county in far more danger than the actual drugs them self. Also the prison system is a dangerous place that should be better managed to prevent violence and rape in prisons. It is also much more harmful than the drugs them selves.

Sad news folks. Eddy Lepp was just sentenced to 10 years in Federal Prison today. He won't need to surrender his freedom until July 7th. An appeal is likely.

you have a link for the case?

well anyway thats just some fascist sickness
they sure dont waste Harry Anslingers heritage!

in Denmark they have also thigtnened the laws for growing and possesion so its now 500 dollars for a first time offence if carrieng any cannabis regarding how little and then fine gets doubled each time
but still that sentence sounds insane

heard of a fellow dane some time ago that got busted with 50 plants or so a week before harvest under 3 x 600 watts
he got off with a fine at 1000 dollars and didnt go to jail
he had 2 weeks in jail on probation terms meaning if he didnt do a similar crime the next 2 years he wasnt to do time for the 2 weeks

if i got busted with my 1200 plants later ( hoping for 800 females) i would probably only do 1 year max as i can say im a seed producer, and since all plants would be full of seeds and raiding my home also would only reveal i shit load of seeds but no stash, they would have a hard time saying anything else as i keep nothing on my pc and and im a fanatic proxy rider

but even 1 day in prison is too much so i take my precautions
if i got busted with my grow in the US i would probably get a similar sentence as Eddy
the laws suck though in every country

free the marijuana political prisoners and fuck the laws by over growing the countries

one day it will be legal all over the globe im sure
but until then stay safe and take your precautions

God bless Eddy n i hope everything turns out good in the end for him
I really hav nothin to say bout wat he did besides that he has alot of Heart n passion to b able to giv up his life for sumthing he believes in

We need more ppl like him

a ? bout wat i've read a few of u say tho bout how he had so many plants tho

The way i see it is that the feds can do wat they want n if eddy wasn't soo open(32,000plants) the feds probly woundn't hav cared as much

But my ? is if thers no limit to how many plants u can grow than how come i here limits to all my friends who hav cards?

I kno 3 ppl that hav ther cards n they wer told they wer aloud to hav 6 plants matured n 2 plants in veg(mom plants) and no more than a lb of dried buds

2 other ppl i kno say ther aloud 15 plants
I've also herd of ppl having ther cards n bein able to grow 30+ plants

N i've herd tht to enable urself to grow more than usual u can bcome a caregiver for sum1 else n grow ther cannabis for them

Truth^^^^^^^^

Everyone sayin he knew wat he was doin n its his fault jus thkin bout this

wer all breakin the law smoking cannabis bcus it is sometihng we believe in

But would all of us jus take the jail sentence n not complain if we got caught? HELL NO

Eddy was doin sumthing he felt rite to do n sometihng that is legal in the state of California the only reason he got 'caught' was bcus he was tryin to do things the rite way by tellin everyone n not bein sneaky

Instead the feds saw him as too much of a hazard bcus ppl follow his beliefs so our goverment did wat its well known 4

It got rid of the problem

Being a martyr helps no one - especially not Eddy. I'm glad to hear he's appealing the decision. Realistically though - if the government intends to fuck him to make an example he needs to sneak through the Mexican border and take a flight out of Mexico city to another country. If all those Mexicans are so fucking adept at illegally entering our country there's no reason a smart man such as Eddy should have any problems going the other way. Heh. That is what I would personally do - 10 years of imprisonment plus horrendous pain as a bonus doesn't sound particularly appealing.
I'd skip town - just my two cents.

Peace - STAY SAFE,

Dear President Obama,

I am writing to you to request that you intervene in the Federal sentencing of Reverend Charles “Eddy” Lepp. Reverend Charles "Eddy" Lepp of the Multi Denominational Ministry Of Cannabis & Rastafari was sentenced to 10 years in Federal Prison on May 18, 2009 for growing more than 1,000 marijuana plants. Eddy Lepp had notified the Governor, the Attorney General, the Board Of Supervisors of Lake County, the Lake County District Attorney, and the local Sheriff; all by certified mail that he was growing the sacred herb for medicinal and spiritual use – by the members of his ministry.

He was denied a religious defense even after the judge ruled he met all the standards necessary to allow this.

Reverend Lepp protected all members of his church, and was the only one charged. Eddy Lepp was forbidden from entering any real sort of defense to the charges, since federal courts do not allow testimony regarding California’s medical use law.

After four years of litigation, his trial was reduced to two very short days of testimony due to restrictions placed by Judge Marilyn Hall Patel. The whole trial was over in less than one week.

To know that this gentle man is going to prison for a decade at age 57 makes me physically ill. This religious man who so bravely helped so many sick and dying and sense-threatened Californians find relief through the medicine grown on his land is going to spend more time in prison than the average rapist, man slaughterer, and child molester because our country has not yet overcome its prudish impulse to punish people for moral reasons.

President Obama, you can commute his sentence. With the stroke of a pen, you can see that Rev. Eddy Lepp receives no more punishment for being convicted of growing plants for sick people than Scooter Libby received for felony convictions of obstruction of justice, perjury (twice), and providing false statements to federal investigators. Eddy Lepp’s felony conviction will still stand, but we will save the taxpayers the unnecessary burden of feeding, clothing, and housing a man who is no threat to society.

Please Mr. President, you could do the truly just thing. Pardon Eddy Lepp, removing all prison punishment and the felony convictions that loom over the head of this middle-aged Rastafarian minister who grew medical marijuana and now must be punished according to strict adherence to the “rule of law”.

President Obama, the California Medical Marijuana Laws are based on the 10th Amendment to the Constitution. You have taken an oath to uphold the Constitution. I plead with you to have your Department of Justice officials dismiss the case and conviction of Charles “Eddy” Lepp.

Even the Judge in the case was quoted at the Sentencing Hearing saying that "I have to say I think that amount of time is excessive. But it is not up to me to legislate, it is up to Congress,"

The investigation, trial, conviction and sentencing of Charles “Eddy” Lepp are a miscarriage of justice. Please use your Executive powers to end the persecution. PLEASE FREE EDDY LEPP.

If you look at California's sentincing guidlines, Eddy would have got less time for molesting a child or killing someone drunk driving.

What kind of f'ed up justice system do we have where a guy like Eddy Lepp gets 10 years for growing plants.

Now Charles Lynch gets a year + a day because the mandatory minimum in his case was "more than a year".

This is not justice it's a culture war against the 60's.

and what a hollow victory it must be for the Feds.......spending all that time, effort and money to jail Eddy Lepp and to do that they had to suppress facts and step on Cali state laws

I wonder if they high-fived each other at the verdict and had beers together at Hooters.....hundreds of thousands of dollars of tax payers money wasted when there's coke and meth dealers (dealers of madness and death) are left alone.....such a hollow victory

why aren't the Feds going after the big thieves like corporations, lobbyists and crooked politicians?..nah, the easy bust is where they are at and it shows.

in a fair court Eddy's lawyer would of called up 300 medical cannabis patients to testify and the jury of Californians would of listened and set him free ...much like Ed Rosenthal was (correct me if I'm wrong)

My suggestion for a letter is to be short and concise. ..try sending something that's actually going to be read eg

"Eddy Lepp was wrongly convicted based on suppressed evidence, Please help free Eddy Lepp, correct this wrong and you will have my vote" or words to that effect

Actually they spent MILLIONS of dollars on Eddy his trial and investigation. Now they are going to pay to host him in jail.

The hypocrisy is mindBOGGLING.

And yes, they were so happy to see him sentenced that almost every Federal prosecutor in SF showed up to observe the show. The courtroom was as packed with suits as it was with supporters in colorful clothing.
