Downloading music

I just got this new computer and tried to download Limewire. Apparently its under court order to stop sharing files.

I have scratched CDs I was hoping to make backup copies of the music. Not trying to steal musics!

Is there any reliable alternative where I can find music openly shared?

Is this just completely illegal now?

It was completely illegal before.

However, if you want to find the files you used to find on limewire, get yourself a bittorrent program and go to isohunt.com and do a search.

There's lots of not-illegal public domain stuff so you don't have to break laws to get files via torrent.

Try B4 U Buy

Try B4 U Buy

Thats the premis of the blog & ddl (direct dl) way of file sharing.

You can find many blogs where people post releases kind of like a forum these are almost always 320 mp3's good enough quality for most people but anybody serious about his music will want the wave file or the vinyl and hopefully go pay for the higher quality of the tracks they like. Many people won't do this but i can tell you some will.

I hadn't bought or even dl'd much music since 2002 most of what i looked for wasn't there and i won't buy from a 1 min sample so i kind of gave up on gettin much new music. Then i learned about the blogs and it all changed, with the blogs you get the whloe ep or album i was finding mixes that i couldn't get with torrents plus so many new artists i never would have searched for. I'm totally back into music again and gonna start to dj again meaning i will buy more and more music... Thats fact some might doubt but it's reality and one only made possible with the Try B4 U Buy concept. The music industry has anutha lost client buying music again, never would ave happened w/o the bloggs who are getting a bad wrap. the blog i get stuff from has direct links to beatport as well and maybe 5% of the ddl links are taken down if any artist/label wants it removed.

if you only get a few things the regular free ddl's are ok but if you get alot the captcha and waiting can be a hassel i grabbed a preimum account won't say who with or provide links to blogs coz i'm not spamin i'm just here to share the concept that brought back my passion for music. The best $20 i spent was my first premium account. they aren't a scam it's proper Value

The quality's good and it's not p2p your getting a link to a ddl one zipped file with the whole EP never had a virus threat.

I dont condon the stealing of music or anything for that matter, but usenet has been around since the 80's I believe, so it's not going anywhere. You can find anything you want there just about. When Napster and all the rest of them come and go, usenet newsgroups will still always be there to find your music archives.

I condone it--
I am friends with several high profile Artists...and they all came up through file sharing--
Most of us will support the ones we feel are deserving...and buy their work--
The rest need to try harder--:)

Just a heads up, even private places like Demonoid are regularly infiltrated. My father owns a business that recently got "served" by the industry due to an employee downloading from Demonoid.

If you're DLing torrents from a site with more people than you and your buddies, you are taking a serious risk. Don't delude yourself into thinking there is such a thing as a "private", large scale torrent site.

Careful out there on them interwebz.

Don't use usenet or torrent clients like µTorrent. Those programs might lead to you getting a letter in the mail from your ISP telling you to stop downloading copyrighted material. More often that happens with Movies though.

THIS is the kind of shit we shouldn't be talking about...THIS will get ICMag shut down. Not talking about race, religion, or guns.
