Me? I'm whats known as a realist.
Do a little reading, listening, research. You'll find that social value and morals went from an all time high, to non existant in the span of about sixty years in North America.
Twenty years ago, when kids weren't in school they went outside to play. Camping, fishing, hunting, and bushcraft were all quite popular. The one fat kid on the block was a fat kid because his mom made great food...
In the now, all the kids are fat. It's because they don't go outside. The hobbies are now computers and texting. Violence isn't scary any longer, movies and television glorify it. I mean shell shock is still shell shock...you just rarely hear about it anymore.
I've had extensive munitions training in the past which is why I thought your "cookbook" comment was pretty cute...but it does prove something. That information is readily available out there for anyone who is interested in learning about it.
So when SHTF have fun with your gang, because us like minded individuals will be in well prepared gangs of our own. The difference is we'll all be smoking BOG's gear with the four horsemen waiting for the rival gangs to show up.

God forbid a man have a few basic survival items and knowledge onhand to possibly help friends and family in case of natural disaster, food shortage, riots, etc....
Anyone who says those things can't or won't happen is in denial of historical precedent and reality.

Point being, if you have a family, you have an obligation, as a man, to make proper preparations to protect them to the best of your ability in adverse situations...

My little guns are a 7mm and a 12g. And, like a hammer and a screw driver...each are tools. One for precision shooting at a distance, one for what the fuck ever I want to shoot with it.
I don't need large round drum magazines and I'll tell you why. If you can't kill it in three shots, it's going to kill you.

Nope, but I would steal if I had no means for food or saw something rare. I just think that if more people farmed and knew how to preserve food you wouldn't need ten years of MRE's. Even the feds have cattle grazing on national forest land, so if things get bad they can feed the fat politicions and military.
I would rather guard the food crops and animals with the family .306 than steal, it's hard to know who has food to steal in the first place. I wouldn't want the death penalty for stealing either....which would be the case in the event of a major invasion or WMD attack on a massive level.
BIO warfare is probably the scariest, they just don't make bio/nuclear/chemical suits for the family cow!
Don't worry guys, I watched Red Dawn last night. The moral of that (terrible) movie is if North Korea attacks, US people will fight back and prevail. Movies always tell the truth,

I would also like to know when prepping goes too far in your guys opinion? For example, somebody that drives around with a spare tire in their car, are they a crazy prepper? How about somebody that keeps cash in the house, just in case? Somebody that has 2 weeks of water and food? Somebody that has 6m water and food? Where is the line drawn? What is sane these days and what is being paranoid? My guess, which is only a guess, is most people will say any preps is extreme these days.
My grandma is 92 years old, and she lived in the great depression. She always tells me how people these days forget what it means to live in hard times. Without preparing for the bad times, people are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.

I think one thing we really could agree on is that everyone deserves some respect.
Some of us might sound racist or redneck but I'm not. Freaks like me don't hate unless attacked so don't attack. We have good security up here already because most of my rural neighbors are growers too.
The reality is that having a spare tire makes sense. What is too far?
There is no need to go live in a bunker until trouble happens and if it doesn't so much the better. I always hope my road trips go well and that I won't have any flat tires but once in a while you do. It's easy to change a tire if you have air in the tire and a jack.
Dumb asses love to ridicule others but they often have a flat tire in the trunk. Are your guns rusting? Have you done your target practice lately? What about your gang? Are they ready to gather goods if necessary?
Ok we don't live our lives prepping. It goes too far when it becomes like an addiction. If it affects your life too much and it warps your kids minds that is going to far. Let your kids enjoy the good times while we have them and let's hope everything works out fine. But, don't think you don't need to think about problems likely to some day occur.

Guns. If you don't believe in gun control then your extreme. When facts come into play, you realize that guns have been part of America's culture since day one, and the extremest should be the other way around.
Abortion? Your extreme or a religious nut if you don't agree with having abortions. However, American history show that should be filped as well.
Don't want a larger government, your extreme. However, when facts come into play again, you realize that our founders designed the constitution to have a limited government.
If I were born in the last 10-15 years, I would be very confused as to what American history is, and what is accepted by common day Americans.
