Yeah not sure there is a magic bullet but sure is fun looking lol. You may find a polyhybrid but doesn't mean your going to bring on the THC. The ELITE CUTS are hoarded by a few that make $$$ off them .. sweet shit too... ppl are starting to let more and more out as they fucking should... nothing worse then a hoarder in the pot game lol peace out Headband707

its misguided to believe that their are "original breeders" using virgin material to make their strains with.

All landrace strains, columbian, africans, middle eastern, indian, thai, pakistan, afganistan, you name it, has been worked perhaps for generations by the local community. Just because you traveled to malawi and found a good crop of weed in which to select parent plants from doesnt mean you are the original breeder., you are using someone elses work. Do you think someone scouted the wild cannabis patches of afghanistan to find Deep Chunk, No. Every cannabis strain that produces cannabinoids has been cultivated to enhance thc production by native peoples and going to the native habitat just means the breeder your hacking isnt well know to the cannabis community. they are the breeders however.

All retail cannabis breeders use other peoples work, either through selecting landraces that have been worked by locals or by using skunk, Nl, blueberry, afghani's etc etc.

my way of thinkin anyway.

how to identify a noob: when they start yapping about world of seeds being a reputable seed company because of the info they make up in their catalogs.

if cannabis was legal research funding might become available. otherwise, i think the best breeders work hard at getting quality crosses of as consistent quality as possible out to consumers, to make them grower friendly in any way. some would say it has drifted too far that way, but consumer demand will sort that out. you may end up with some houses putting out rock solid, reliable and potent product, while others may have lines with more genetic diversity, appealing to breeders or people looking for something extra special (if you want something special, you have to work for it :D).

in a way, everybody's ripping off everybody else in the seed business, because who really owns the genetics? imagine the bucks you'd have if you were Joe Schmoe the "inventor" of G13, you'd be retired on the riviera with your royalty bucks :D

I would focus more on not worrying about HOW they do it but rather the quality of the end product and the actual customer service you receive.

THANK YOU!!!! I have a buddy who thinks we are not even on the same page when talking Cannabis growing and breeding only because I'm willing to grow strains from people like Reservation Labs and bagseeds and say they are as good as cuts I have that are proven. It's like he thinks unless they selected a male from 100s of plants and the females from the same they are hacks. Also me taking crosses I have from unknown breeders who he hasn't heard of to use in my breeding projects is why the genetics are getting fucked up cuz of guys like me!!! I was pretty pissed off about it as he hasn't read how the seeds I got were made ect.. Like the Chem91Bx1 seeds I got which were made from a White Russian outcross then dude selected 2 males that matched 91's structure and smell from 20 males and hit the Chem91 cuts in a open pollination and I have the seeds from that run. I want to grow these out and find the closest 91dominant male to hit my boys verified Snowdog clone and I got laughed at being told that's exactly why they're are so many shitty strains floating around cuz of shit like that!!!

Call me crazy but is that not a way to lock down a strains traits? I also plan to hit the original 91 cut and I think people would love to grow out those seeds wouldn't you guys? I thought they would be great for the server fund...:tiphat:

The feel I would like to promote from this thread, that threre's more to medicinal than pain releif. We have a whole slue of ailments which MJ can cure but we have these genes spread out into getting you high smoke.
Now what I have not seen from the breeding community is fibromyalgia weed, or glycoma weed, menstral releif... I think this is the next great hurdle for breeders. And might be how pharmasuitical co's could enter the game God for bid

My creations are proven medicine. Whenever you put something out to the public you will undoubtedly have Naysayers whom will doubt because the world is made up of mostly sheep whom follow.

As long as "YOU" personally believe in the Cannabis of which Medicates you and it takes care of what personally ails you then the thoughts and beliefs of anyone else doesn't matter.

Just takes some longer to come to that inner strenght and maturity.

time to re-quote a wise man's input into this thread:

Are they supposed to just crap out magical new creation seeds?

breeders do not create, breeders do selective breeding.

many names are from other people. If you have a problem with a certain breeder name them.
13 f'in breeders and I am ass kissin your fucked dude that makes no sense

A lot of people don't know how to select a male, that seems to be a big factor. I've yet to pop a bad seed, it's hard to hate a company but people do. As long as the beans are not immature, that is the serious factor I judge by!

If you believe the hype GHS are scouring the world looking, sorry hunting for 'new' strains, but it is only hype, these guy's are more interested in photo op's, 4 x wheel driving and how this safari's T-shirts came out. Something new to stick on Youtube I suppose.
The short answer is NO!, breeders have no responsibility to do anything, come on!, they don't have to guarantee their own product.
I would be happier if they sorted that first, but it wouldn't be seed sellers that did would it!.
Meanwhile stick to companies like Tom Hill and MNS who stand by their work and if it says Afghan on the label it is!.

Only person I know who I can actually call a breeder is my buddy Dr Z (see thread in my sig).

But he has put his efforts into developing one thing, as he is not a pro, and does this for himself.

From what I have seen of the commercial beans out there tho, many of them are pollen chuckers and a few of them are real breeders. I don't have enough experience to be able to say who is who tho.....

how about adding to the gene pool is there any responsibility on breeders to do so??

what gene-pool are you referring to specifically though?

a breeder cannot add to the general gene-pool of already existing cannabis...

but if you mean, adding to the "gene-pool" of a certain inbreed line, then, a breeder can add to the "gene-pool" by bringing in new materials to that specific inbreed line.

this does not mean the breeder 'created' anything new and added it to the general gene-pool though.

Okay well one thing your missing here

Okay well one thing your missing here

We are all different and what floats my boat my not float yours!!!!... lol.. Being in the clubs I always wondered why ppl that bought bud didn't buy the strongest or what I considered the strongest bud they had. It's because they didn't want it or they were looking for sleepy pot or they thought that was strong. There are so many combinations around the world that you really do need to find the polyhybrids through trial and error as there will alway be the X factor i.e chemdog through bagseed. peace out Headband707:dance013:

by adding to the gene pool I mean that today most strains are made of old 70's gene's brought back to the dame and cali. Most breeders use what's out there. By adding the gene pool I am implying that go out and find new product to breed into the gene pool. Like going out in the world of landraces and bringing some back to breed into the gene pool of cannabbis's commercial market

B. Friendly,

You have a great way of thinking and you are correct in your thought process. You are going to run into a lot of men that come into your thread and want to act as more holy than thou, or as cannabis scholars and thus get your thread off track when deep down they know the point that you are trying to get across and get people discussing.

I think also that is why you haven't had breeders come into your thread and share their thoughts. They don't want to have these men whom think that they are cannabis scholars because they have read hundreds of cannabis books telling them that they are wrong in their breeding practices. Or that they aren't offering anything new.

Truth is that Marijuana practices are so private and personal because of the WORLDWIDE laws and taboo status by civilized cultures in regards to this great plant that no one truly knows what a breeder is doing in his or her stable/grow room/breeding facility.

I think people like Tom Hill did a great thing by working with Deep Chunk for so many years and making that work open to the public, I think that Ace Seeds is doing great things with Landraces and wild Sativas, I think that RSC working with and collecting Landraces and making them available is a wonderful thing. I know people knew exactly where you were trying to go with this thread and your discussion and they let wanting to sound smart and powerful get in the way of just taking their fingers away from the keyboard if they didn't have anything to say that was on "TOPIC".

So once again Thank You for this thread and Bravo to Tom Hill, Ace Seeds and RSC.
