Howdy all
This is how I built my dry sift box, with 110 screen, 11" x 17" screen area, for $15.
Let's go:
The screen:
Got this at Michael's, the craft store. It's with all of the T-shirt design stuff. Made by a company called YUDU.
In the store, it's a hard product to find. It's packaged as just a flat piece of cardboard, about 3/4" thick, and they're stacked up tall-ways like books at a library.
Michael's usually has a 50%-off-one-item coupon online. You can just pull it up on your phone at the store and they'll zap it.
These are also available on Amazon.
The frame:
Built out of 1" x 4"s. The dimensions of the screen, frame and all, are 15" x 19".
Because you'll need to secure the frame at each corner, you don't want to mitre your corners.
Your cuts will ultimately be two 18" and two 14" pieces. They will line up with a square end in each corner. Ultimately, each corner of the screen frame will be anchored into a different piece of 1" x 4".
The construction:
Always drill pilot holes!
I fastened the frame together with a pair of screws at every end. Do this before you put the screen on the frame.
To fasten the frame to the screen, use the same screws you used to construct the frame. Put down a washer (I used a series of two washers, graduating in size) to fasten the screen itself to the frame.
..All of that, to make this:
