My roots always start out skinny and end up locking into each other like a fat dreadlock...heh

Just took the pics for todays update (guess its going to be a daily thing if I can keep it up) and I think mine will turn out the same damn way!

So here they are, I'm thinking I have a male on the left and female on the right but thats only based on structure so far.

They seem to really like the cheepo no name HPS so thats what they'll get from here on probably. The leaves perked up very well due to ph down, misting, hps or all of it and they look happy again.



Heres the bubbleshot and roots, lots of bubbles now and no slime was felt on the walls of the tub. The bubbles are intense and spit droplets in the air like when you fill a cup with soda.



Heres the close up of the roots, looking great and they don't seem at all skinny like yesterday for some reason, maybe it was just turgor pressure.

Did I mention I really like hydro?! This is defiantly for me, I like the fact that I can check up on the roots as they are a huge indicator of plant health for me.

And I love having total control of nutes and medium temps etc. This is awesome, I should have switched sooner.

Still doing outdoor though, its just to spiritual not to!

As much as I miss outdoor growing, I'm just too paranoid. But in absence of the sun and dirt, DWC kicks ass don't it?

Those things are lookin good. I always like seeing baby plants sittin in a huge bucket just waiting to grow up and be monsters. Keep up the great work your plants look nice.

I wish they'd hurry up already! I wish I could at least sex them by now but topping has probably delayed both upward progress and sexing, but the roots are still pumping out!

hehe patience is a bitch, i try to only go into the room every second day, kinda shortens the wait .. or well i like to tell myself that it helps

Leaves are perky but cupping and there is some tiny necrosis on the serations. I have a feeling its low ph but with no meter I can't be sure, I'm going to add a gallon of tap water to bring it up and dilute the nutes a bit.

Yeah from my expierence the lucas method def lowers ph. You should go get a meter deft. I know you have the $100, I bought one on ebay (even went so far as to buy it and have it shipped to someone elses ebay.) I paid like $130 for a hanna tds/ec/ph/temp handheld meter. It works well (actually I bought some gh ph 7 solution so Im gonna check it and make sure its true) I use it like 10 times a day on all my different buckets.

Enough about me, back to you. Get a ph meter or some strips (super cheap)

Leaves started cupping a bit and I thoguht it might be low PH so I added a gallon of unadulterated tap. They really like being misted once a day so I will do that as long as the humidity stays low.

I fealt slime on the outside of the rez at water line again, and noticed that with the HPS the light penetrates through the grey plastic too well so I'm going to get another tub to put inside this one next time I change the rez out. I'll probably get that aluminum bubblewrap stuff and do the sides and top too as well as maybe a little black paint on the inside of the outer bucket.

Here is todays pic, looking good, branches are starting to grow outwards especially on the left plant which I think might be a male but no crotch flowers yet on either.

that slime sounds like algea growth. man if the hps penetrates that box i will have to check my DWC buckets and see to it that they are lightproof.

thanks for the heads up... looking good btw, plants seem ok for now. look to me to be growing nicely.

Does not seem like algae, its totally clear so I would think it was bacteria. If it is bacteria there is noooo way they are anaerobic so it may be 'ok'

H202 kills it and it floats off into the water and gets caught in the roots, probably not a good thing but there seem to be no ill effects yet, still growing very strong!

Only what I learned in college(honestly not as much as I should have learned), studied ecology for a few years and never finished my degree. Plan to go back and finish very soon though, since its my love.

You know Im gonna have to check my blue rubbermaid now. I dont think I have enough light penetration to hurt anything. But I will check.

Ladies are looking nice. I also am already thinking about how to better keep the res cooler. Im a use some of that relective stuff that Spo used. I just need to get to the darn dePot but Ill be making a run soon enough.

Im gonna get some updates on the rubbermaid thread with some pics. From what I can see your roots are doing better than mine (your lil ones are also a bit older I think) but mine are coming along nicely brotha.

rootporn for you mate the water levels in my buckets have been kind of low so you can see the roots have not penetrated the pot all around. i use some root stimulating mushrooms from AN. think its called piranha.

my moms, i have clones rooting right now. there are so many strains i think we will nvm which is which for now. hehe you have been in my thread
