Colorado House Bill 1284

Today is the Denver Global Marijuana March! I am hoping to see the streets full of marchers! Bring your banners, signs, noise makers, and whatever else you can think of. The march begins at the Denver City & County Building at 11:00am so gather there about 10:30 / 10:45 so we can be ready to hit the streets! Entertainment and various speakers will follow at Veterans Memorial Park across from the State Capitol. Hope you can come!

Politicians trying to hedge their vote.

Stoners don't vote, soccer moms do!
Sad but true.

I stopped listening to their filth, it drives me crazy...Reading a whole 'Testament' by Romer, even a bigger waste of my time than playing video games. I learned to stop reading the shit he puts out after the first couple revisions on the last one.

When something passes, then I will take the time for a line-by-line disection of WHY this is bullshit, and WHY they have no idea what they are talking about.

Romer is buckling already?

Guess there are going to be some...er, a lot...of changes.

just wait til it passes the "Final" vote...with all the legal challenges it will face, more than likely it won't go into effect on the planned 7/1/11 date....just my opinion...

I received a few more emails back from our reps, they all SUCK!
here they are:

XXXXX,

Thank you for contacting me about the marijuana issue.

As you know, this issue has grown rapidly over the past months, and several different forms of legislation have been presented to help regulate it. I believe some form of regulation needs to be established and am currently researching and discussing different avenues in which it should take place.

Thanks again for taking the time to drop me a note. I will take your thoughts and comments into consideration as this important piece of legislation moves forward.

Thank you!

Thanks for your comments. I support this bill because I believe it strikes a balance between allowing access to medical marijuana yet regulating its distribution in a way to try to avoid fraud. Thanks for sending your opinions.

Dear XXXXX,

Thanks for taking the time to write to me. In 2000, Colorado voters
approved Amendment 20 that permits the use of marijuana for medical
purposes to ease symptoms such as pain and nausea. Coloradans voted
to allow this method of relief for those facing battles with cancer,
HIV, severe arthritis, and other chronic conditions.

While the amendment clearly allows the possession of marijuana by
patients and caregivers, voters did not intend to create a marijuana
free-for-all marijuana in our state. As the growing prevalence of
medical marijuana dispensaries shows, we must clarify the law to
preserve the will of the voters and protect those struggling with
chronic illnesses.

In this legislative session we will attempt to ensure medical
marijuana is properly regulated. Several bills have been introduced
in the House and Senate; I am working with my colleagues to craft them
and to closely monitor their progress.

Many of the bills’ specifics are yet to be determined, but any
legislation that properly resolves the problem must address three
issues. First, we must properly regulate the relationships needed to
provide medical marijuana – those between doctor and patient, doctor
and dispensary, and dispensary and producer. All are important, but
ensuring each patient has a valid relationship with their doctor is
critical to getting medicine into the hands of those who need it and
keeping it out of the hands of those who don’t. Second, we must
properly address the issue of taxation. We can create a tax structure
that keeps medical marijuana affordable but fairly provides local
governments and the state with the resources they need to regulate it
and ensure public safety. Third, we must have a fair and equitable
dispensary licensing process that involves community input and puts
common sense protections around schools and neighborhoods. We have
an open and transparent liquor licensing process; we can do the same
for medical marijuana.

To shape legislation that will accomplish this, we will gather input
from a broad coalition including patients, local governments, the
medical community, the legal community, and law enforcement. I am
confident we can limit easy access by recreational users and allow
patients in need to get the help they deserve.

Thanks again for getting in touch, and please don’t hesitate to
contact my office with any future concerns.

Sincerely,

Mike Johnston

 Yea...these are all form emails...they just add you to their email list as well, so youstart getting their newsletters etc...in other words....expect to start getting spammed by them. Sorry, forgot to tell you to set up another email account for that...

From a previous poster tho....there was mention of using regular "snailmail"...supposedly they actually read that, now that email is pretty full of spam, especially if you have a "public" email. I think that it's like 3 pages back...a TED link.

So they want to regulate it and tax it like liquor but want to make sure only sick people have access. Makes about as much sense as this fucking bill.

It must have been you, cause your eyes were pretty glassed over the other day when we met...hehehe

Yeah ...Matt Brown is a POS lobbyist, bought and paid for by the Cali "immigrants" that none of us here want. He's all about big business....and does not give a damn about patients...the ones the Amendment IS about!!!

"Now is the time to lock in the compromise reached in the House, to provide fair business regulations to Colorado's medical marijuana industry and to move forward on rationally implementing these new regulations."

Disturbing?
