Here's a few quick observations. Some or all of them should help resolve your problem.
a. They look small. I like my clones to be approximately 7"
b. They look too wet. I water my clones every 2-3 days. Allowing the RW to slightly dry will help promote root growth in search of more water.
c. I would also trim 33% of the upper leaves to decrease the respiration which leads to water loss.
d. Try to keep them a little warmer... They seem to root better when keep between 75-80.
hi PnP, maybe try a different method for taking cuts, i have tried every way possible to take cuts, rockwool was very high maintenance i found, misting, propagtor lids, when to open air vents, are cubes to wet, lots of pissing about that i could have been doing without really, been using a bubble cloner for years now and would not go back to anything else.
i take a cut, place it into a glass of water, then into some clonex, then straight into the bubble cloner and thats it, i will replace the water after 1 week and after 2 weeks the root system i have is amazing, they ready to go, very low maintenance works best for me, and with the bubble cloner you very rarely lose a cut, best of luck PnP.
i use a 27 site cutting board, put 2 cuts in each site and its now a 54 site cutting board
Thanks Canada, it makes perfect sense - you need to make them want to root out. I was providing too much care after not cloning for 3 years so I was over-doing it for sure. Planning on taking a final round of cuttings (50 or so) tomorrow so I'll go with something like this:
No dome
smaller rockwool cubes
tap water w/ no addatives (should I pH this?)
lightly coated cuttings in rooting powder (not gel)
indirect lighting for the first 48 hours
I saved at least $200 building this, and it was actually a pretty fun project
