Chasing the sweet Tooth fairy

So I called Advanced Nutrients during business hours and they didn't answer.... I called several times, each time the recording told me their schedule and then instructed me to call during business hours.... weird..

The Trinity Clone is looking like it won't make it, can't believe I had them so close to the light... she was doing okay... then when I vented the heat out of the room it stopped circulating the Humid air and lowered my RH to 26% with a small humidifier... fuck.

It's all good though, don't trip, I know a few of you are interested in this cutting especially, well, I'm going to grab another 4 cuttings in the next few days and make sure this one grows out this year.

Tonight I'm soaking Hydroten in 7.0 Filtered Tap water.

Last night I drilled holes in the bottom of the inside bucket on my GH waterfarm Square buckets. I made it look like swiss cheese in there... also, got the airstones for them yesterday. Last time I just used the end of the 1/4" tube to make bubbles, hope this works even better.

That sucks man, when I first got my T5's I did same thing.
The shop I bought it at recommended 1 to 2 inches, well
you know how that ended, 6 inches seems to work for me.
Maybe it will bounce back, fingers crossed.

Put the first Clone into a Hydro Bucket today.

The 4" air-stone is perfect in the bottom.

I filled it with about 2 gallons of 7.0 purified water

I added 1 teaspoon Maxibloom
1 scoop of Great White
and a little hygrozyme.

Final Ph 5.7-5.9 (I use drops)
EC .8 and 400 ppm

I also cut 4 more clones. 2 from each established sweet Tooth plant. I put these in the cloner and made sure it was out of the direct path of my fan and away from the lights.

I'll snap some pics later tonight.

SO I just weighed my last grow and posted the results... not nearly what I expected.

But still above my minimum of 1 lb.

This time, alternating 6 in flower 6 in Veg, I'd like to pull the same weight off each rotation.

3 hydro
3 soil
probably all Hydro if it turns out to be worth the time.

@ MMJcali - Thanks Bro! Not sure about these plants. I didn't buy them as seeds, I got them from a local dispensary as clones. If I smell my fingers after playing with them, they get a nice citrus smell, I'll update you in a couple months!!

It's Decided, I'll be running a nice Side by Side Experiment.

Lucas Vs. Advanced in Hydro.

I'm going to make a post in the Side By Side forum where I will only talk about the side by side.

Here I will still include some results, but not as detailed and will refer to the side by side post which will be added to my signature sometime soon.

I will be following that thread... I'm really curious about these Advanced Nutrients

Still no word from the Mods on my side by side, but thats okay, I'll get it started here once everything is ready.

I transplanted the two soil sweet tooth's today into 4 gallon square buckets with biobizz light.

Then watered with just water and CalMag as they were showing a magnesium deficiency.

Hope they look good tonight when I get home, I'll update some pics later.

Today, if the roots are big enough I'll be transplanting the other two sweet tooth's that I have into their freshly cleaned Hydro Buckets.

It's starting to shape up!

Let the Battle of Lucas Vs. Advanced Begin

Let the Battle of Lucas Vs. Advanced Begin

Two Hydro buckets are now up and running.

Bucket 1 = Lucas Formula, 1 Teaspoon per Gallon of Maxibloom.... thats it.

Bucket 2 = Advanced Nutrients as per their feeding schedule online for Sensi 2 part, rooted clones and seedlings feeding phase. I will use this until I see roots dropping down into the bucket and then increase.

For all measurements I will be using a .7 conversion for EC - PPM and my Truncheon Meter that is regularly cleaned.

For Ph I use trusty drops... they always work :cathug:

picture.php

The Recipe:

based on 8L

Total EC was between .6 and .7 or about 490 ppm

The website says about 250 ppm but my mixture includes hygrozyme and different Root Beneficials.

6.4 ml Sensi A
6.4 ml Sensi B
1.6 ml Fulvic Acid
1.6 ml VooDoo Juice
1/2 scoop of Great White Root Beneficials (That's half strength)
12 ml Hygrozyme
Foliar Fed B-52 at 1/4 strength

So far, the lucas formula is alot easier... lol, but I'm not opposed to any work that produces serious results.

:dueling:

Ph of both buckets are around 5.7 - 5.9

I'm curious to see how the advanced stuff works,.... local store just started carrying it, I've been running the techniflora line since I started a little over a year ago, and for the most part my buds whoop up on anything from the dispensary! (according to my patients anyway)

What do you think of the AN product line compared to the rest of the lines?

Just thought I'd ask someone running it before I invest in a new nute line.

I love my blueberry that I just grew out with advanced in soil with T5 lights.... So I really can't complain about advanced, the results were top quality.

See the results of advanced in soil on my blueberry signature link.

But i'm not sure it's worth all the money. The nutrient line is priced fine... but all the extra bottles of stuff are crazy expensive... I'm not 100% sold.

Thats why I'm doing the experiment.

Everything is looking Great. My only loss was the Trinity.... and I was told this one was a bitch to clone.

Getting some more asap.

As for now, almost everything is ready to really start vegging.

The two soil sweet tooth will be vegging the longest, the other 4 will be about the same. either way, all will go into flower at the same time.

Today I transplanted the last sweet tooth into hydro.

2 with lucas formula
1 with advanced nutrients

picture.php

The one in the back was the first transplanted and has roots in the bucket already... not yesterday, but by this morning there were two nice white long roots dangling.

The one in the middle is advanced nutrients.

The one to the left and slightly out of the light footprint is the one that was just transplanted, I like to ease it into the light to keep the roots pushing for the bottom.

On a side note, I was able to get my cloner dialed in perfect. I added a heat pad underneath to keep the temps warmer and moved it away from the light.

Here are some sweet tooth clones that I grabbed last week just in case I killed some.

picture.php

This one is the Back right in the next picture, it had no roots last night... but was getting white and bumpy on the stock, now this morning... it had some roots.... all the others will be the same by tomorrow.

Nice, well, I'm excited the cloner is working well and the leaves are all green still.

The last one to be transplanted is the lone Blueberry it has some roots and will be transplanted into a Plastic Cup with Bio Bizz Light until it's ready to go to the same size buckets the other two are in.

By Tomorrow Every plant will be in It's home and ready to Veg out... within a few days I'll be adding more light...

Within two weeks, after the Trinity has finished cloning, I'll be switching to 20/4 for the duration of veg.

Got some news....

This go around, I'll be making some major changes when switching to flower.

picture.php

I'll be using 2 High Output 432w 8 Bulb T5 Fixtures for Side lighting, these will be hung verticle on the left and right side of the plants....

Then in the center, I'll be running a soon to be purchased Air Cooled Hood and 1000 Watt Hotrilux Eye HPS with digital Ballast. This will be cooled from inside the tent and exhausted out of the room through my carbon filter.

I'm hoping to keep some T5 Blue Spectrum.... and just Crush it on yield by growing 6 plants at a time that can be vegged longer and flowered taller with the HPS.

While 6 are flowering 6 more will be getting huge in veg just waiting to jump in the tent.

Nice choice, the hortilux 1K is the way to go,
I run a 400MH (next to the 1K ) but I like your
idea of side lighting with the 2 sets of T5's,
less popcorn buds for sure.

peace

~ thanks!

I'm getting more excited just thinking about it.

I was debating for awhile... but here is what sealed the deal for me.

Here is my current power usage during Flower.

24 HO T5 Bulbs (4') - Thats 1296 watts.

12 hours x 60 days = 720 Hours for Flowering

720 Hours x 1296 watts = 933120 watt hours

933120 WH / 1000w = 933.12 KW

933.12 KW x .097030 = $90.55

Now with the HPS:

1000 watt Hortilux and 864watts of T5 lighting = 1864 watts

12 hours x 60 days = 720 Hours for Flowering

720 Hours x 1864 watts = 1,342,080 watt hours

1,342,080 WH / 1000w = 1342.08 KW

1342.08 KW x .097030 = $130.22

$130.22 - $90.55 = $39.67 More to run the 1,000 watt. I think I will yield at least a few grams more to justify the cost difference... it's really not much.
