Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
Nam Myoho Renge Kyo
20 years ago I barely dragged my drunken insaine ass from my "camp site" (aka da bushes) in front of the West LA Court to the VA Hospital. I went trough the shake rattle and roll for the last time there. Had been through 5 30 day Tx programs and many 3 day detoxes (spin dry) over several years prior.
Alcohol had reigned supreme in my family's karma. My Great Grandfather murdered his son, my Great Uncle in a drunken brawl. Herion took my dads bro. Dad drank himself to death. Mom got sober when I recieved Gohonzon in 76. One of many proofs (no pun intended). My bro was paralyzed in a car wreck at 16. Drugs and alcohol caused the wreck. My experiences with alcohol resulted in finding myself in the damn Marine Corps and later crabbing the Bering Sea. At least there I could not drink. But, I'd get paid and so would begin yet another series of bizzare entanglements usually interrupted by LEO.
Once while drinking wine with an Indian in an alley in Seattle's skid row I got pinned by a cop on horseback who parrellel parked his steed into me against a wall. While producing my ID I told the cop to put my drinking buddies "infraction" on my record as he had no ID, as if my DL was a VISA.
The stories I can tell-"there I was, surrounded by pre-sushi. Them angry snapping pinchers reaching for my date hand."-madness no?
No alcohol in 20 years is amazing. How much my life has changed is incredible.
My life today is so much like a dream. Every day morning and evening I win the lottery. Merrily merrily.
My 7 year old son this morning recited the sutra with Mrs. Wilson! and me for the 1st time. He did so sitting in my lap reading and reciting the sutra and chanting diamoku with driven purpose. He did not know today was an important day to me. His joining in gongyo this morning made it so much more so. We didn't ask him to chant he just let it rip.
My survival is wondorus. How fortunate I am. Charmed by the jewel of Nam Myoho Renge Kyo.
Thanks for being here there everywhere. See you at Eagle Peak.
Thus I heard.
