Scrubs - Good call with those lamps. I think i'm going to do some scrounging around today, i couldn't find anyone locally that sells clear tubes in the specs that i want.
Sneakinman13 - Yeah If you can't get your CFLs to fit in your hood you could also build a box of sorts with a plexi glass shield and shoot some air though it via computer fans or duct work to a single blower. You can get bulb cleets from hardware stores and they are pretty easy to wire up
Tilt - Dude that awesome, picture aren't workin the the thread, but i followed your link, thats pretty much my idea but with out the PL-L bulbs. Good job on the set up too, really clean. Where did you find your tubes from BTW?
Oldbootz - Yeah your probably right about that, most PVC is thermally rated to around 260F, most CFLs wont get above 170 - 180F. But it also depends on the thickness of the tubing as well as, As for soft plasics they can melt around that temp. It was more of a warning / observation then a "DON'T DO IT YOUR LIFE WILL END",
So now comes the day to searching, i'm going to go to some of my usually places and then also search around Wacky Wallies for a glass vase as well. I wasn't quite able to track down the to clear PVC tubing, but their is a couple other stores out there for food for thought, i was also thinking that a exotic pet store maby carry acrylic tubes i think i saw some awhile back ago, but i don't quite remember (hehe pot head memory) Everyone else good luck to your search!
