my led camping light has been working for a long time on the same batteries. get both. mine had a remote but i lost it.

+1 on the headlamp for personal use. Note that some headlamps can be fitted with an attachment that turns them into a small hanging lantern that is perfect for in-tent use. Search for "mammut-tr1-2-in-1" for an example.
