Hey folks - Karma was kind enough to let me showcase one of his new hybrids. I ran some Happy Brother Bx1 a few years back and really loved the taste and stone of the plants I found - so was more than willing to try a new twist on his Happy Brother mom...

I am running a bit behind the other testers with mine, so I'd like to apologize for that first and foremost. But things are now on schedule.

The plants are in being grown in organic soil, fully amended and are being given nothing but water through out the entire process.

So far, they were soaked for 12 hours, then placed in paper towels for 48 hours to germinate. From there they were placed in about 6oz (half full plastic cups) and placed under two T8 4ft fluorescent bulbs for 4 weeks. They were then transplanted to 1 gallon bags and placed under a 400w MH bulb, where they will remain for 4 weeks to mature before being placed into flower...which brings us to the present.

They will be topped no later than the end of the first week under 400w and the bottom two or three internodes will be stripped leaving only 5 internodes remaining. The secondary shoots will have plenty of time to grow and fill in during the remaining three weeks of veg. They will then be transplanted to 3 gallon bags and placed under 1k HPS for the flowering cycle and that is where the real fun is.... ;)

Sounds great, but looks much better! So on with the show!

Again, this goes with out saying, huge respect to Karma Genetics for the opportunity to showcase a bit of his new gear - I never fear putting his genes in my garden as they never fail to be anything short of true dank. :thank you:

Wanted to note - they are just now starting their first week in 1 gallon. The end of week 4 picture was taken POST transplant...they are still getting settled in their new homes and had only been under the 400w MH for about 10 minutes when that picture was taken. I expect they will blow up here in the next week...

Thanks Adrift - that I am certain of. The other testers results look very promising. HammerHead has already gotten 3 plants through flower and they looked stunning...so I know good things await me..

I should also note - while all the seeds did germiniate - One seed had not broken soil surface three days past all others having become officially seedlings. I proceeded to gently dig up that seed - and it's taproot had not grown any larger at all - so I culled it. That is why there are only 11 plants - oops. Kind of a crucial detail...lol.

If anyone knows what those eggs are, I'd LOVE to know - I recall a thread on such before but have failed to find it....

Hey puma - thanks for joining the show man - I hope to do them the justice they deserve, especially since I'm late getting them going....

Nice to see ya getting to these buddy. I am doing the amended soil as you are with my testers. They are easy peasy. Have not had an issue with mine yet.

As you seen from mine you're gonna have a bunch of Indica dominant plants and maybe the occasional OG throwback.

Be here for the show, slippers on feet, IPA in hand.

i don't know what's up with those eggs either... but i hope you scooped them out of there before you finished transplanting!

I transplanted a bunch of veggers yesterday. Found very similar looking egg sacks along the bottoms of the pots, extending from the holes. Almost cried(yes,I'm emotionally invested in my plants). Had a smoke, manned up. Checked the rootballs. Found varying degrees of the same colonization on all plants in the veg room. Along with some little white, slender things that crawled into hiding pretty quickly. I'm assuming they are what hatch from the eggs.Plucked every egg I could find and flushed them.
The only things that resemble them in the infirmary are:
-thrips in their final nymphal stage.
-or some kind of root aphid. spleeball terms them as ''micro bots in this awesome, yet very scary threadhttps://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=159960&highlight=WINGED+ROOT+APHIDS

I don't really know what to think. I don't have any clearly visible thrips damage. I've had them before,I know what to look for. Maybe I caught them earlier this time.
I really REALLY hope this is the case. I've had them and killed them before,I'll do it again. But RA?...shit IDK how I'll deal with that.

The really bizarre thing is that all my plants, like yours, look healthy. No obvious signs of anything being amiss.

Sorry for derailing an awesome thread about awesome plants. I saw those sacks and wanted to give you a heads up.

Nah, not a derailment at all seeing as I asked...thanks Spiral!!

And good to see ya here third coast. I honestly think out of the 11 I've spotted 3 that are more OG-ish leaning plants based on what I see so far. Out of those I am guessing one of them is male...

they could just be eggs of fungus gnats.....while they are a pia they wont eat your plants...they just like damp dirty places......

yeah, but these girls have been overly dry a couple times, honestly...I've been really careful not to get gnats...and they tend to lay eggs on the surface of the soil, which this is deep in the pots, next to the drainage holes like spiral stated.

If this is root aphids...this is the LAST thing I need. This is my first run since getting decimated by broad mites in the spring...ugggh...I've never had so many pest problems in my life...not sure why all the sudden now I can't seem to get a clean grow.

I transplanted some ladies to flower last night as well, and there were many more of these on those root balls...which like a retard I did NOT discard...I might be digging some plants up...no bueno.

checking in.

there is no way not to have gnats growing in soil unless you regularly drench. i dont see the need to pump any more chemicals into the plants so i always have a few here and there in the room. a no pest strip keeps the adults from living long.

yeah, but aphids are not gnats...gnats I can tolerate...they usually perish in flower anyway. BUT aphids are a different story. I don't want aphids. They will kill any chance of decent yields...

Good to see ya here Phillthy - pull up a chair, homes!!

Karma Genetics

I got my seat, Hope the eggs dont interfear to much with your crop.

I have tested mine for heat and high fert. doses they kept pretty well.

And HB can take a pretty high infestation abuse compared to other genetics, Mites always go on here last thing in the flower room

Well, after stopping by ICm chat and starting a thread in the infirmary and reading up on such pests in various threads I'm about fully convinced that it is not pest eggs - but perhaps rather a fungal inoculation...

A good thing...I hope....lol.

Glad to have ya along for the show Karma!!

Tagging in. How's it going DF.
Im with Philthy on the fungus gnats-root aphids: same thing, at least thats how ive always known it. The eggs Ime look like more opaque grey little globules accompanied by a colony of workers in trails to the surface.

Looking fresh n fine.

fwiw - fungus gnat and root aphids are NOT the same thing...yes, in mature stages they both fly, but NOT the same pest...not at all.

And Thinman - might I ask why you are particularly interested in my results - you've peeked my curiosity...

Thank you both kin and tin - for the good wishes.

UPDATE:

I plucked the first two internodes and then topped each plant today - leaving only 4 internodes on each plant. This will translate to 8 solid branches on each plant - kinda how I like to do things.

Aside from transplanting when they got roughed up a bit, this is the first time I really have put hands on these plants. I did get a couple whiffs of some strong stench. I can say the ones that really caught my attention have a very similar smell of Happy Brother - slightly mango/peach with a odd twist of black pepper/spice. The others just smelt, well, green. They are still young, so I expect these scents to mature and change a bit - but I did make an effort to mark the ones giving off early stank - never a bad sign at all.

They have set their roots into fresh soil and growth rates are picking up now already. Getting them topped with 3.5 wks of true veg left is a GREAT accomplishment. These are going to grow into very nice plants for sure...I'll not have to worry about yield potential at all.
