Please don't feed the troll.... HGO will clean this up. :thank you:
Please HGO....This guy`s in his own lil world and most likely can`t grow his way out of a paper bag....NEVER........and I mean....

NEVER .....Have I withheld first hand knowledge and personal experience to help folks up their game , but yet you want to capitalize on your thoughts and conjectures like you`re the only 1 that ever came up with an automated setup by withholding YOUR knowledge...?.......

Horsefuck....You prolly still grow in dirt....No offense to my organic Bro`s , but this cat needs clipped....and I`m sure the equivalent of an Engineer as in Sanitation Engineer = Garbage Man.....

Peace....DHF.....:ying:.....

Thank you guys for dropping some knowledge on me. FF too. I also now understand why some pots dry out and others don't... I didn't realize I was supposed to completely drench the medium. I thought it was supposed to be at the desired moisture level.

Through all that bullshit I'm gonna try to stay on track.

I believe this is your problem bobble... drench the hell out of them and then dial the blumat to cling + 1 arrow. This tells the blumat the pot is wet and does not need to drip.. as your pot dries out..the ceramic carrot will "pull down"..thus allowing the 3mm to drip...

Lots of confusing mis-info on these things with people talking about dialing to certain drip rates, etc. While there may be many ways to skin a cat I think all this dialing that I hear people doing is exacerbating the problem.

If you setup like the directions specify..they will drip as your pot dries..and stop when its not. You dont need to fiddle with the drip rate as others suggest. A proper dial while the pots wet and they will start to drip as it drys...a drip rate determined BY the plant.. not the grower.

Only after the pot has dried and the blumat has been doing its thing for a bit will I nudge the pot to see how light it is.. Only then would I open the knob a hair to allow a faster drip.. otherwise I'd suggest leaving it alone and letting it drip at the pace that your medium moisture content is telling it to.

Not saying anyone else is wrong.. I've heard a couple of tricks like not dialing until the next day and dialing to cling (without any additional arrow), but I run them pretty much like the instructions specify and very rarely (i'm talking once/twice in a few years) have I ever had one dry out/run-away.. provided I had proper pressure. (which you should because you keep a constant elevated res).

Hope that helps.// I'm sure you'll get it figured.

FF, thanks for keeping us on-track here. I couldn't resist some fun with gyb, but this is what we're here for. :thank you:

That is the trick bobble - soak the pot, then calibrate the blumats..

Not often (probably twice this grow?), but I do occasionally have a runaway.. In all fairness, that's probably user-error - I do sometimes have a challenge leaving well-enough alone.. :shucks:

But bobble, your experience has made me appreciate potential challenges with multi-plant/multi-blumat runs.. I like what freds said about saucers under pot, during dialage, until everything is set.. Makes it easy to identify the leaky culprit..

Once again y'all.. This conversation is what kicks ass about this joint.

:thank you:

Thank you so much for taking the time to spell this all out to me and everyone else. It clicked in my head immediately why you would drench the pot, and then dial to a cling +1... but like you said, there's a lot of people making different suggestions, and I guess I just got some of the facts twisted. I noticed that the plants I was taking off the flood table and putting on blumats stayed heavier than the plants I was hand watering and then putting on blumats. I never drench my pots b/c that's too much water..,. but we're not talking about feeding the plant, we're setting up a feed system! I totally get it now. The pots are going to stay just under drenched once the blumats start working. I bet I'll see the growth I've been looking for as well...

Thanks a million! I just couldn't quite figure out what I was doing wrong.

I'll be the first to admit that I jumped into the deep end of the pool head first, and I was only an intermediate swimmer at the time... I learned when I was 16 though that immersion is the best/fastest way to learn. It's extremely stressful and not for everyone... but you really find out what you're made of at the end. I've only come as far as I have with the help of friends like DHF, Laylow, HGO, FF and sooo many others that I'm sorry I'm not mentioning, along with the moral support of most everyone that takes the time to post! so :thank you:...

I'm telling you guys I've finally got the combination to unlock the potential of my octagon... I'm sooo excited about how things are starting to look for me... Hopefully by page 100, I'll have 4 rooms bursting with buds... I'll have pics of another new room with a 1290w stack at the end of the week. I have to figure out exactly how I'm going to build it still... racks or shelves... But just know it's gonna be sweet and fully loaded. My veg is absolutely overflowing.

Back durin the Krusty Wars , I`d tear ANYBODY a new asshole that didn`t have a clue bout perfect environment , but I`ve mellowed so much and in such a good place in my life these days .....

I really tryta let things slide when lil punk ass know-it-alls swoop down in a well established thread and sling their bullshit like it`s the gospel , but yet have no evidence whatsoever to base their claims on other than us supposed ta take their word for it.......so....

That flew ALL over my old ass yesterday , and havin run outta Bubba last week it sent my anxiety level over the edge , and for my allowing myself to sink to the troll`s level yesterday , I truly apologize Bobbles....but....

Anybody who's anybody around here knows that you have enough "that a boys" to make up for the occasional "oh shit" moment... I've read your posts since the OG days, and I'm happy to be friends with an old timer like yourself... Not that you're that old... :moon: I know you're really 25 at heart.

It's hard not to get frustrated when asshats with no experience come in and try to take over... and then you call them out and tell them why they're wrong and they still argue. You can see the evolution of my thinking in my posts. I came into this thinking I'd be pulling down record breaking harvests within a year and be making fat stacks of cash... lol... Then I found out that it doesn't matter how great your plan is, reality is different. It's about compromise and realistically doing what you can to bring your dream to reality.

I suppose if you dropped a few million on state of the art equipment you could design a robotic grow that runs itself... but at that point, why wouldn't you just hire a gardener and pay them $45k a year? lol... I mean come on! NASA has the most brilliant engineers in the world, and they still manage to blow people up and lose multimillion dollar probes... You can't anticipate everything.

Anyway... bolt your bucket to the floor, cause it's about to get wild in here... I have clones! :woohoo:

hey, now just let it bobble ;)
looks promising after all, should be managable to dial that in
