Blumat auto watering

Lazyman - are there any lines of nutes that I can add to my rez for continuous feeding? I would be using an air stone to mix/oxygenate the water.

I used the GH Flora series (micro and bloom only) when my all-in-one soil mix petered out toward the end of flowering and it worked well for me.

Lazyman,
How much nutrients do you run with in your reservoir and are you using nutrients continuous?
I'm on my second grow using the blumats and I'm still trying to figure out the best way to deliver the nutrients to the plants.

Run a dead res with Zone or bleach and you will be fine.

I just recently hooked up my blumats, but I don't have any Zone and my local shop doesn't carry DM products.

Is it absolutely necessary to run Zone?

What's the story on the bleach?

This dead res thing is concerning me. How important is it?

Before the blumats I used a drip system with a pump. The kind that the drip hoses were like 1/8 inch and the nutes flowed out in a stream rather than drip out. Feeding once per day Using canna nutes and drip clean I never had a single clog ever.

Still using canna nutes and drip clean + bloombastic in flower. I put beneficial bacteria powder and Miskito dunk powder right under my drip line on my coco. If I went with a dead res it would kill my micro heard.

Is everyone running a dead res with blumats?

I NEVER bubble/agitate my rez,,,,it is NOT AN ISSUE
I think any 'FIZZ' in the water is bad- as it will facilitate vapor lock your lines.
I run tap water.

Any experience out there with long channels using these?

Thinking about 5in wide channels approximately 1'11'' long. No more than a few inches deep.
Think octagon shaped trench, hollow in the center. Coliseum style

Curious how far these would water properly. Say if I was to stick one in the center of the channel, how far out each side it would moisten, considering the shallowness of the zone

irregardless, Ill be ordering a set or two for my next soil project
cant wait to check em

I use GH nutes and an airstone in my res. I found it keeps my res from smelling like dirty feet and mixed. I personally have hooked 6 different people up with the same set up...and it works great for all of us. I top off every few days, and have been doing this for about a year now with excellent results.

There is only 1 problem with Blumats. Always make sure to check your drip rate AFTER you Top off res. It can make your drip rate much faster than usual and could cause flooding. The pressure change from extra water can make a much faster drip rate. If you double check your drippers after re-filling, you maybe surprised at how fast the drip rate can go up.

I cannot say enough good things about Blumats, they gave me my life back and are worth every penny! Actually, they are cheap as hell if you ask me. They pay for themselves in just time saved.

A dead res is definitely not required, but does keep things nice and squeaky clean.

I would be hesitant to be using carbs and other molasses type additives. A buddy of mine didnt even give them a chance because he instantly mucked up his reservoir / clogged drippers with his normal mix of an assload of unnecessary additives.

Micro/Bloom w/ and airstone stays clean w/o air lock issues in my experience.
Maxibloom w/ recirculating pump the same.

Bloombastic caused no nastiness despite its thicker consistency.

As long as your nutes are 100% soluble once they mix w/ water you should be in good shape.

- The bit of gnat dunk directly under the dripper is a great idea...going to try that - as well as any other guano, granular mycor, etc that one might want to use.

All in all the blumats have been great and made automation in coco a breeze. I still think I'm more partial to other methods that dont require attention (setting/dialing) PER PLANT. Great if you've got a smaller number of plants, but still more work then other methods if one is having to setup and "tweak" each individual blumat initially and throughout the grow.

hey Guys,

I'm looking to try these but almost all links in this thread to places to purchase all seem like dead links now. Can someone please help me with a few questions...

1. Since I will be using a 25 gal res to water about eight 5gallon buckets is this the set I should be looking for http://www.blumat-shop.de/Tropf-Blumat/Sets/Tropf-Blumat-Set-for-3m---in-the-original-box-.html ? Should I be looking at a different set?

2. if the above is the set you would recommend, is there any other parts that do not come in this set that I should be considering?

3. Is buying dirrect from the website I linked to my best option in the USA? Is there a USA distributor or website to purchase from besides ebay/amazon?

Thank you

WasntMe,

Yup, Deck and patio kit is what you want. Might want to grab extra 3mm dripper line - makes moving around the plants possible.

__ See below for US sources.

Also, for those digging for the info:

Blumat sources in US

HomeHarvest - Deck and Patio Kits - Pressure Reducer
(not discreet billing - charges show as Superior Growers Supply)
http://homeharvest.com/dripirrigationtropfblumat.htm

Sustainable Village - Deck and Patio Kits, 8mm tubing, pressure reducer, thru hull
(call kyle to place order - 888-317-1600) (I think they have website troubles)
http://www.sustainablevillage.com/se...i_node/blumat*

GreenAcresHydro.com - Deck and Patio Kits, tubing, THE place for the small 3mm tubing. (call to order - (916) 419-4394 )
(not discreet billing - charges show as green acres hydroponics)
http://www.greenacreshydro.com/produ...y.php?cPath=29
EDIT - dead link - looks like redesigning site - you can still call however using # above.

KentSystems.com - 3/32" tee for small 3mm tubing (if not using deck and patio kit and need the barbed tee for the 3mm tubing) (call to order - 970.593.3185 - I believe correct part code is TFN206)

Hope that helps!

Is there any reason you couldn't have a pump in your rez that turns on every 30 minuets or hour with a 1/4 anti siphon L (so as not to burn up pump when all valves are closed)then a pressure regulator to Blumats? The reason I ask is as slowandeasy mentioned different rez levels change drip rate, this would make it stay consistent. Also it seems it would fix any problems caused by air in the lines. Peace, pot and karma. One Love:ying:
