Well I must say that is a fur peace from where I was told the issue stood a few months ago.

I have to applaud that!

:thank you:

Thom I would vote for a hemp bill long before I would vote for anything like 19.

Progress has to be substantial and we're not going to get it with a recreational bill... everyone seems to agree it's not going to make many happy no matter what.

not gonna take the time to explain representative government to you.
suffice it to say there is no illegal electoral college at the state level ;)

Since we are in the laws and legislation forum, I'll take the time to explain to you that the electoral college is the constitutional form of state representative voting for the President of the United States, and has nothing to do with governance of the various states.

And this WA proposed legislation will be debated and voted on or not by the elected legislators of Washington state. The legislative branch will deliver all proposed laws that receive a majority vote to the executive branch (the Governor). If the Governor endorses (signs) the proposal then it becomes law.

This process will occur over the next few months and none of us know if the bill will even make it to the floor for a vote. The proposal may just die in committee as happens to a lot of proposed legislation.

How does one that believes that our government is corrupt and full of self-serving criminals simultaneously hold out hope that they will one day be convinced to do things 100% correctly, fairly and ethically?

For one I know the government is corrupt and full of self-serving criminals.

For two I do not think that this will ever get to the point where things are done 100% correctly... and most CERTAINLY NOT fairly or ethically.

It's almost time to go completely Egypt on them, and have the cannabis community hit the streets in force, and demand real change.
Burn all the liquor stores.
No cannabis for us, no liquor for you.

 i had not heard that expression yet. lmao.
We did that already.
The best I can remember is we got shot and they won.
I think he was joking. I hope we all know violence is not the answer.

Indeed they are wise words.

Tell that to the paramilitary raiding pigs.

We were so close to real revolution back then... it is a daunting task to attempt anything resembling that.

I think we should begin to silently accept our fate...

what are you referring to, we are closer today than we ever were to a social revolution of marijuana, maybe back then all the hippies and their disillusion thought they were so close to changing everything when the most successful thing they did overall as far as drugs and marijuana are concerned is create a bad example for Reagan and alike to make a war on drugs about.

Hippies, you are not gods gift to the world, we are closer to real change than yall ever were, get on board because we don't got time for all your hippie dickin around, it's time to do things that make a difference, get out there and talk to people that don't support your ideas in a positive and productive way instead of like a hippie would

.
I collect old canna related material, magazine, articles, etc....
Everything I've read from the mid 60's to the early 70's left me with the impression that they were just about to make it happen.
The movement was very big, and very vocal, and all this without the internet.
It's depressing to read now. and realize it was 40 plus years ago and nothing has happened yet.
With the exception of Med use and I don't think anyone at that time saw it coming.

I do feel that we are close now, but then you read the articles and see that they thought the same thing back then, more so even.

they did think they were close....
but in reality to the powers that be they were a joke.
singing and putting on facepaint just is not an effective tool for sociopolitical change.
but if you believe your "vibrations" can change the world they were very close.
till the "hells angels" sent in by the powers that be showed just how spineless their movement was...

So I should go ahead and stop "vibrating" now is what you're saying?

I think that the fact that Pro MJ was also considered Anti War, and a couple steps from communism back then also helped to ensure that the movement would go no where.

Big H3rb is that you? :bigeye:

Get out there and do what? Talk like you?!

Which is why Nixon and Rhodes thought it was a good idea to send the National Guard in with .30 caliber weapons to a college campus.

There was a very strong sentiment that is lacking from today's youth... one of effecting change.

Now they just talk about it all the while doing much less than those before them.

Hate away hater... but get your facts straight... that movement had more heart and backbone than we'll ever see again.

So I should go ahead and stop "vibrating" now is what you're saying?

At least you thought out a response and didn't just spew insults.

We came from somewhere and now we've lost any respect for that or those who brought us here.

All in all I just can't wait to see what you narrowminded bigots come up with in terms of effective change.

I'm just biting my nails in anticipation... this division should serve well to unite us.
