Up potted a F2 03 02 in veg, 32oz, to bush up and will flip when big enough.

I may up pot to 64oz cup if I find one lying about.

Using the fluffy coir, have retired the chunky style, plants love it,
more hair on the roots and better moisture retention.

8/31 update:

Up potted a second F2 03 02 to 32oz.

Also the two F2 03 02 BC to SL soon to chop, will pop some more seeds to
see what else is there. Lemon hash scent, one is more productive.

Thunk in LST throwing pistols, looking forward to falling temps.

Flipped the thunk cross plants, no back up, they good, but I need the space for
other projects, perhaps I'll pop some more from that cross to pheno hunt.

The new seed batch failed.

Third time I've used coco to start seeds, each time had mixed results,
this time two sprouted and stalled, four tailed a bit and then rotted.

I'll return to sprouting seeds in a light soil mix, lesson learned.

That being said, I have decided to switch to the F1 x SL back cross to look for good plants.

To be honest, none of the F2 03 02 back cross were memorable smoke,
a nice selection of terps, though.

There were at least thirty six different plants in several runs from that cross.

Seeds soaking now and will post pics soon.

Also chopped the two final, for now, F2 03 02 back crosses,
terps are lemon hash, but yield is reduced due to the hi temps.

The two thunk crosses done stretch, and the thunk in flower is angry at the hi temps.

I've had terrible luck seed starting in coco. I just use rockwool cubes now.

I wanted to believe it would be okay this time.

The coco was pasteurized, rinsed and pre charged to 0.6 EC.

The only seed I ever lost in soil were a batch OG kush back in the day.

99% gem rate with everything else in lite soil mix.

Live and learn.

Anyone ever notice a marked difference in potency from bud to bud in any given plant?

I have stash from January and is very nice and warm, but from time to time I pull a nug
to smoke and am rewarded with this stellar, deep experience.

Not a set and setting thing as I am aware of such things.

The high is quicker onset, effects not different than average,
just much more pronounced and longer lasting.

It's fucking awesome, actually.

Haven't experienced this effect with any other harvest with this plant.

Feel free to reply, I may just start a thread to explore other's experiences

What do you mean by you have a stash but sometimes pull a nug?

Are you talking about the difference between smoking a lower maybe more airy popcorn bud vs an upper 'cola'/bud?

I refer to stash as nugs, not talking about pulling nugs from a rooted plant near harvest, lol

You may have a point about uppers and lowers,
not much discussion on extreme potency differences within the same plant.

I trim my harvest evenly, the larger buds are trimmed to
small sized nugs. Jarred, there is no difference visually
in the nug size, so I cant easily tell upper from lower.

I'm saying the stash in question has buds/nugs significantly
more potent than the mean, like from a different plant.

Weird.

I saw testing that showed about 2x difference in THC% between the top of the plant and the bottom. I wish I had that link for you, but have lost it.

I’ve always preferred the quality/aesthetics of upper buds, but haven’t noticed much variability in potency. That said, due to that quality effect I try for wide rather than tall plants!

At three weeks, seedlings from BC1, the F2 03 02 x SL.

Marked variation in this seed lot:

Been four years on this side project, and this seed lot is an exciting development.

I'll take cuttings and flower the seed lot after they veg awhile.

Also, as it has been four years, I'll post some highlights of the thread.

Prepare to be underwhelmed, lol.

That’s for sure.... Interesting ‘hyper’-serrated one there, too!

This is a select F2 crossed back to the Southern Lights mother plant, right? Neat to see the result!

F2 back crossed to the male Southern Lights.

First time popping this lot, and seems interesting variation.

That ‘hyper’-serrated plant is unusual, I wonder what makes a plant do that.

Two on the right, F2 03 02, in 32 oz cups.

On the left the two thunk crossed plants, one root beer, one lime.

The new seedlings transplanted to 16 oz cups.

Cuttings taken of the F2 03 02 and SoLi P1.

All is well.

Just chopped the two F2 03 02, just under 90g wet.

The two thunk crosses chugging along, one lime, the other root beer.

All the BC plants topped and soon to take cuttings.

Cuttings taken of the back cross, two of each for a total of twelve.

Flipped the seed plants to see who makes the cut,
as none of the plants showed pre-sex.

All six plants hollow stems, an obvious boron deficiency, lol

Good stem rub scent on them plants.

The two thunk crossed plants soon to chop.

The jarred F2 03 02 buds smell real good.

Four of the BC seed plants in flower confirmed female,
seven days since flip.

Cuttings placed on seedling heat mat, thermostat controlled.

Veg box going to get crowded, need to be creative space wise.

Chopped the two thunk cross plants, thick mouth watering terps.
