What is the best method other than handwatering daily to keep the PH and ppms at the proper levels in the medium and also avoid salt buildups and nutrient lockouts when autowatering?

DTW with drip clean...
Get a rez, pump, 1/4" hose, drippers, and a timer and you are set...
I have it detailed in my current grow.

build buckets with drains

build buckets with drains

i like dtw, but the pots with drains and saucers are a pain just get some clean 5g buckets and find a good way to drain them, and no muss or fuss, plus you can keep a closed loop system by top dressing the coco with diaotomacous earth and perelite, no more gnats viola, :tiphat:

The saucers were left over from when I was hand watering. That shit got real old after about 2 weeks. Next run will be in trays, or possibly kiddie pools on wheels so I can spin my donuts for trimming...

Is it possible to use the drippers in coco, and time it so that there is VERY little runoff??like i grow in a closet,so i cant have a huge pool of water everyday.so will i be ok setting it to drip twice a day, maybe 1 minute each cycle?i have been looking at something called "bluemats",on this forum, they seem cool but way too complicated for me,drippers are too complicated, but im sure ill learn

What i'm thinking of doing is making my own drip stand out of PVC pipes for my DTW dripper system.
In the DR120 tent, have a 1m tray (holds 100L) that sits on the stand. Drill a hole in one end and have it raised so water runs to the hole. Underneath have another tray (65L) to catch all the run off.
My res will probs be 25 or 50L. So if any timers fail all the water will run into the bottom tray (65L). If it works right it'll make watering easier and cleaning up easier for me.

Not sure about how much to water yet but I was thinking 3 times a day (1 at morning for plants, 1 half way through lights on and 1 at night, sound right?) something like 2/4mins. Read some people try to aim for 300/500ml but guess it's trail and error when you build it to find out.

Get a "Patio Set" of Tropf Blumats, man. they are not complicated! They are dead simple with no moving parts and no electrical needs. No pumps to fail and ruin your grow. No Runoff when dialed in properly. Just super healthy plants rocking along, drinking only the juice they need. You will thank me later for this advice.......

I have been running Blumats now for over two years. They are not complicated at all one you get them dialed in your set. they have been the best investment in my grow cabinet second only to the light.
