Auto-Flowering AK-47. Motherable?

I have a beautiful strain of AK-47 and it was looking great. Growing in soil. I chose to make a mother of this as i would be trying to clone it into hydro. I am running it on CFL's on a 24 hour cycle. The plant has gone almost into a full budding start. Its definitely forming buds and they are getting big. I have 6 other strains that are under the same light, same soil, same cycle they are showing the slightest signs of femaleness but nothing like the AK. I have heard that AK-47 was a ruderallis and that these strains were autoflowering meaning that their budding and vegging cycles are combined and as it grows, it also buds. I got this strain from a very respectable club so i know it is AK-47. Is there a way to stop it from budding so that i can mother it. I"m afraid that i'm not going to be able to mother it soon cause its in its budding cycle

well if you got it in as a clone, why couldnt it be made into more clones?

If it's really autoflowering under 24 hours of light then why would it stop flowering, clone or not?

Yeah man... If you got a CLONE from a club..... Its not auto flowering.
Auto flower plants are unable to give clones.....the plants go in cycles. They're born...they grow up....they flower....and then they die. A clone from one of these would be the same age as the donor plant.
Flip the light cycle back to 16/8 or 24/00 for this plant and it will re-veg. Problem solved.

Good luck dude! :smoweed:

Hey guys thanks for the quick reply's. I was thinking that a plant was not clonable if it was too far into flowering. I think i've refined my question a bit now looking at your guy's reply's. If i keep it on a constant 24 will the budding just go to a certain point then restart itself... giving me time to make clones while it restarts? or will I always be able to make clones off it budding or not because it will never get far enough into the budding cycle on the constant light cycle

Personally, i always veg for 24/0. Some peeps say its better, some don't.
It's just what i'm used to so i stick with it. If you flip the lights back to this after a couple of weeks the plant will go back into a veg state (revegging) then you can take the clones.
Whenever you reveg a plant the growth always goes knarly and odd looking. Don't fret, that always happens.
Alternativly.... if they're only a week or so into flower, you could get away with clones..... it'll just take a while to root em.
At the end of the day there are loads of ways around this dude, just depends what you want to do yourself.

Good luck and i hope this helped. :jump:

something smells a lil off to me? if its flowering under 24/0 hours of light ...i highly doubt you bought in as a clone fro a club? or did you get it as a seed? u did state its under 24/0 of light and budding if this is the case it will not re-veg at ALL it will flower out then be smoked=) im not callin you a liar at all im just saying maybe it was a mismatched clone????...possibly? but there are some strain of autoflowering plants that are photosensitive and will sttart to flower under 18/6 or less i remeber reading somewhere (i think on overgrow) there was a pheno of an ak-47or 48 that flowered only under 18/6 or less and if you cae across that keep it by all means keep us posted and keep safe....bless

Sounds to me like the clone was taking from a flowering mom.

I'm not 100% sure on this but I think it might be something to consider. It may be possible that the clone is still confused and is actually on its way towards revegging again.

I've got some PK plants that were revegged after harvest with little, to no, bud growth on them. They ended up growing out a couple of new smaller buds. However, now that it's been a couple weeks, they have stopped producing buds and are just producing vegetation.

I have read that the same occurs for clones from a flowering plant.

I would suggest giving it additional veg time and patience to see if it reverts back to veg for you.

As far as cloning cannabis ruderalis: as I understand, the plant uses age to determine when to flower. Because of this: taking a clone from one will not allow you to grow a brand new plant as the plant has already aged to when it thinks it is time to flower. That's what I have come to understand about cloning the rudies. I could be wrong though.

I grew out a pack of Ak a few years back outta ten seeds 8 were female, 4 of those auto'ed under 24, out of the other 4, 3 of those eventually auto'ed as well-still have the one that didn't auto-excellant smoke.Things I noticed with it is if you have it in too small of a pot and it's rootbound it is more likely to auto.Try up sizing the pot as all the Ak's I have had are heavy on the roots, if you need to keep it small look up the thread on keeping bonsai mom's, good info there on root pruning and such.Hope this helps you, best of luck and positive vibes man.

I am still on a 24/0 its what i've been running the whole time. I want to make these mothers so i will run them on 24/0 they're whole life.
Revegging is not something i'm very familiar with, but it doesn't sound like these will revegg if they are already on their way to flowering on 24/0

This is good information thank you very much.
I did not consider that it was taken from a flowering mom. It definitely didn't start out with flowers on it but if the flowering was very early stages maybe it got carried down.
Also this makes sens about the rudies and cloning. It was just that i thought that the strain of AK was a rudiralis.. just that the autoflowering trait had been breaded out of it. I was bummed to see it autoflowering just because i really wanted to mother her and take her a long way

Well i would tell you a little more information about the club to prove that it is a genuine clone of its strain but that would give a little too much area information. Buttt, this club only carries certain strains and is a legit club. I purchased 3 different strains from them at 2-4 clones a strain i was going to choose the best one of each to mother out. The other strains turned out great and both AK's that i have autoflowered.
Thanks for your blessings i will try to keep safe

Hmm this may be the problem i'm running into. I have all my mothers in the same size buckets and only the AK's are flowering, but as you said they have more root mass and maybe are partially root bound. Thanks for the info.. i'll try to upsize buckets and see how it goes. Although am i going to run into problems with it already being set into flowering or might it reveg?

Thanks for that. I thought I had heard of an auto-flowering AK47 but I didn't want to say anything 'cause I wasn't sure.

If you can find out from the person you received the clones from, that would help you determine what might be happening with yours.

Wow, I've never heard of AK auto flowering?

Wow, I've never heard of AK auto flowering?

I've grown 2 packs from Serious Seeds over the years. I didn't have any auto flower tho? I really doubt Simon bred these with rudarilias? What would he hope ta gain by that? it isn't much good except -for- the auto flowering trait. BC

I don't know why, or where, or when but I do remember stumbling on some reading that mentioned an auto-flowering AK47. I was thinking about it while I was reading your troubles but I didn't want to say anything 'cause I wasn't sure what the source was.

I agree that there wouldn't really be anything to gain from making a ruderalis AK but anything is possible.

I've even got a book that the clubs gave out with a small bit of information on each strain they carry... it says nothing about this being an autoflowering plant. i would think they would mention something like that in their little informational pamphlet. but idk who it was from. i just know that the club only uses select breeders and keeps them all year long.. same strains.
