Ok
I've skimmed throught this thread.
I use coco perlite with the slip method.
I have used maxi bloom before with good results
So
Can I get a opinion on if vbdirty is a good fit for coco?
It's either vb hard water or vb dirty.
I have gone to their website and I can't finger it out
Also
I see VB has a hard or soft water options.
Does the VB Dirty need these options or does it work in both?
Thanks

I'd start with a water analysis - if you are on a public utility, it should be available from them or perhaps even on their web site. I use the RO formula in coco with excellent success, but my tap water is very close to RO in composition.

It won't read on my BlueLab meters, but according to the utility reports the total TDS from one source is 85ppm, with 6ppm Ca and 2ppm Mg, and from the other source the total is 61ppm, 4.6ppm Ca, and 1.1ppm Mg.

First picture is GG4 in FWOK 28 days from rooted clone. Second picture is GG4 in COCO 21 days from rooted clone. Got 55 of em about to fill 10 lights!! They weren't doing much until I bumped their feed up. Now around 1.2-1.4 EC. I can say they are definitely happy! 1/2 RO, 1/2 Dirty, .4 +life per gal.

looking good brutha !!! :tiphat:

GG4 can be a hungry bitch in veg , will show a Mag def if not fed enough , but once the roots are established & put into flower , she doesn't like the food as much . many of us have noticed that once shes in flower , you can't go over 1.4 EC or she locks up & won't fatten up like she should . its a weird feeding strain , but once dialed in ..... she performs like no other !!!
i've gotten to the point with her that i veg for a month , tieing & training the whole time , & i'll get the feeds up to 1.4 & just keep it there even in flower untill after the plus size is done & then i'll start my leaching for the last 10 days .

I top the shit out of my plants , i like at least 4 mains sometimes as many as 8 . GG4 throws branches like crazy , so i top till i have 4 mains ( or as many as i can get lol ) then tie them down in an X pattern & let them veg from there . trimming the lower sucker branches for clones as they grow .

clones get 1.0 & i build up from there as they veg . no weekly flushes needed if you feed low enough . i would rather feed a def , than have to flush the medium of excess food . dig it ??? lol

the difference between veg+bloom and earth juice is like the difference between viagra from pfizer and the horney goat weed extract from the dimly lit chinese liquor store on the corner.

Oh i agree whole heartily...I got the sea blast at a grow expo for free..the rep said nothing like it...well..i learned a lesson..the V&B dirty is top shelf...it is like the Ronco oven..set it and forget it..lol....Chris has really refined his nute line to perform...and talking to him is a world of info...tells you right how to use it...

I never had a nute def with V&B...with earth juice I had to add mag and cal...and had to PH the mix ...Chris said make your mix up and then bubble it an hour and its good to go...

its the best outdoor nute I used..and i tried many...

FWIW, I have been doing RO vs The Dirty vs 6/9 experiment. Have tried RO version Before and I did good, but did not Veg as fast as 6/9. Results so far are the same, 6/9 is vegging way faster, Dirty next, then RO. I flipped the RO plant and Dirty plant 11 days ago, the Dirty stretched more, but both look healthy. feeding 1.2 EC so far. I also dcided to try + SIZE on a Flowering 6/9 plant starting week 3 and it is bulking up....but hairs are turning orange much faster than normal. Week 6 started today, I usually take her to 10 weeks...not sure I will this time took early to tell.

In all honesty, I have been doing my version of 6/9 for many years. I don not think I will switch from Vegging with it. The EC is higher than I use with V+B products and the plants produce mre bud sites and grow much faster in Veg. However I will continue to experiment with V+B products for flowering. I will admit that the RO version and Overdrive combo really bulked up in Flower when I tried it before and I think +SIZE might do better than Overdrive. I can't wait to see the end products this round, so far The dirty is ahead of The RO version in growth. Will let everyone know. How things progress. Not knocking V+B at all, I like it....but if you want faster Veg growth.....6/9 produced more bud sites and faster growth both times I have done side by sides by quite a bit. Chris suggests using +SIZE as foliar spray to increase veg growth with hs products. I will just stick with 6/9 for veg and see if the end product using V+B turns out. I have no problem switching to V+B in flower if end product s better.

veg gets fed every other day to 3 days depending on pot size & plant size , flower gets fed everyday to 2 or 3 x a day in late flower . straight coco .

Ive found that a lot of people like to wait till the top inch of coco is dry or pot starts to feel about half their wait when saturated during veg. What is your way of telling when you need to water during veg?

Dank I only let them dry out during the first couple days of transplants to let them roots catch. after that once the top of the coco starts to dry out Ill hit em with a watering do the lift test and then youll get a hang of how often theyll need waterings never let them dry out completely after the roots catch. boy do the ladies love waterings once their roots are established they perk up everytime. letting it dry out too much will cause problems that arent pretty.

Awesome thats what I have been doing for my girls. Transplanted solo cups into 1/2 gals. It's been about 4 days and still a little on the heavier side. Top layer is dry but most of pot is still wet. Was going to give em water but ill wait till they go about 75% dry so the roots can search!
