im getting ready to harvest my early round of outdoor/GH girls, a mix of pre 98 bubba, skunk 1, NYCD, girl scout cookies, Herojuana, and abusive og.

I LOVE bubble hash! I just picked up a once used set of bags for 20 bucks off of craigslist. BUT i recently discovered BHO and have become a fan. So what im wondering is: can i use the same trim to make both?

I have made bubble in the past many times and usually only agitate it for 10 min max. and the trim that comes out wet STILL has a lot of trics on it and im wondering IF i redry that trim, can i use it for BHO? I know i wouldnt get as much finished product as if i used the trim with out running the bubble first. But doesnt the process of running BHO get ALL of the trics in there? Hope im making sense.....

Id love some input on this one, Thank you again fellas. and ladies

i love to use dry ice-
best return by far-
you can then turn this into killer bho for bigger yields, honeycomb, wax or edibles!
edibles and dry ice hash are a match made in heaven-
i use a 120 micron bag-
and dry ice is about 2$ a pound-
you will only need 2 pounds if you have a lot of trim-
plus its super fast- talkin 5 min and 1 single 0z of fine trim will give you 7-12 gram returns if its solid trim-

anyone else here run 2 types of hash from the same trim? or maybe a quick bubble run and make the left over into canna butter?

Many people make hash oleoresin from trim that has already been used to make dry sift. They will frequently combine the two products to make jelly hash. You could do it with waste trim from making bubble but it will be more hassle, what with the drying.

well your bho tube basically melts out the trics through the filter and into your pan when you run solvent through like butane-
it comes from the bud or trim you pack into the tube correct?
well instead..just fill the tube with dry ice hash- keef, is hash, crystals its all just different names for one thing- trichomes!
run it- no trim to contaminate it, no bud or green matter-
just a tube full of sifted trichome's to melt down through that tube- get much more return and a more pure bho product-
its what i call doing the two step ;)

FTMFW !!!

i just ordered two bubble bags for sifting some dry ice hash.

now i am concerned, as i ordered a 73 micron and a 220 micron.

i see 120 mentioned earlier in the thread. do i need that instead of the 220?

thanks :tiphat:

how do you turn the keef into BHO? pack it in the tube with other trim? to bump up the trics?

You can mix kif with trim/flower, it's what I normally do and use more butane. A thermos soak is a better method, as the kif can be absorbed over 30 minutes in butane, but I can't advise as I don't do that method for space reasons.

If you use a normal tube for kif/hash/rub use stainless steel as a filter, it makes more back pressure, letting your kif soak in butane for a few seconds longer.

*edit*
stainless steel mesh, 120ish micron

[/FONT]it really depends , ive found that each brand is different slightly-
its honestly more personal preference then anything and even more base don the type of herb your using-
for indica and indica dom hybrids i like to use a 200 or 220 my man-
for sativas and there sisters i like a more 120-
indicas usually have a larger trichome structure while sativas usually have smaller trichome sizes-

so it really boils down to trichome size, and getting any contaminate or "green" material out-

so you ordering a 220 and a 73 is great, you didnt do bad at all imho..
220 for indy's and sativas get the 73 ;)

see ive found after yeas of making bubble hash that after you hit a certain micron say 160-200 depending on how the bag is made, that your not getting actual "grades" of hash-
but rather sorting the trichome size instead-
logically if its all say trim from skunk#1 from the same crop- just an example-
ok how is the 90u any different in "grade" or potency then a 45u bag?
there is none ...its just sorting the trichome sizes thats really it-
plus when making bubble you know, its bubble- the water always effects the flavor and adds a green tea like twing thats tale tale sign of bubble hash-
so i went dry ice- much larger return and way more of the buds/trim natural flavor-
cleaner- faster-
and same cost as byuing bags of ice vs a few lbs of dry ice-

with dry ice hash the return is absurd- dont shake to long either cause you will start getting green matter through even a 120 bag-

it def leaves you open to produce made concentrates from the return and edibles are awesome -
your butter- if you make butter or cannabutter-
using only dry ice sift will create a non-green butter- the goal of most but it will also be superior to any butter you have made before in terms of potency- for best results i like to add some fatty ass buttermilk, about a 1/4 cup per 1 lb of butter- ;)
cheers! hope this helps some folks cause i love making things from my dry ice hash -

yes sir! thats a great tip on the stainless-
i believe the stainless also holds a cooler temp being of metal nature slowing down the evaporation of the butane as well, helps to really get your best yield of bho- :tiphat:

thanks sour seed. good info ! i really appreciate your help. :tiphat:

and regarding your comment on the edibles and lack of green(chlorophyll) flavoring is something i can appreciate as my limited experience has definitely produced some green butter in the past. i anxiously anticipate as this upcoming run as it will be my first dry ice attempt. :woohoo:

trichs for all !!! :blowbubbles:

do you mean a stainless extraction tube or a stainless filter on the bottom of the extraction tube.

sorry man, i'm a newb to bho :tiphat: i understand the process, just collecting all the tips and tricks i can before i attempt.

Both. 120 micron Stainless Mesh is what I use for a filter, I have no contaminates go through, some use lower micron (80, 100). Stainless tubes are great as well. I have a glass tube that holds 25g and a stainless that holds 60g both are equal except size/frailness. All stainless steel or glass when making BHO tho.

Now that you mention cool temps, you could freeze the tube/product for an hour or two to make it all cooler yet. I'd put it inside 2 different baggies to keep moisture out.

I was told if u wana put kief threw for BHO.. to grab some sugarleaf trim.. and mix the kief with it so the crystals are kinda on the plant material.. and then pack and go.. I guess packing kief has clogged many tubes.. and also.. horrible yields with keif . .this Is wat I was told.

its to bad.. some1 should start a company that u send ur trim into or they come and pick it up.. and they make ur BHO or hash.. and make a contract to take a certain % for doing the work. and instead of a bunch of growers trying to make a good concentrate we could have a dude that's the concentrate guru..

here's a clip of a dude making bho with just kief. he did use a couple buds as filters in his extraction tube.

We always solvent extract the material after dry sieve or bubble hash extraction. We usually get only about half of what is available using mechanical means, before it starts to green up from leaf contamination.

Typically we solvent extract using butane, because it works well and in a recirculating system, it is the cheapest means that we've found to extract.

We've also extracted with Ethanol for orals, and with Isopropyl and denatured alcohol for topicals.

For extracting kif with butane, you might consider the thermos method. Kif doesn't immediately dissolve in the butane, so more residence time is needed for complete extraction, than you would typically get in a single pass column.

A column will also clog easily with kif, so if you are using one, you might try mixing it with herb or inert material to add porosity, and keep the column short. You can use wadded coffee filters as fillers for the empty space.

If you are running a Terpenator, try a 6" column.

PS: Since most of the water solubles and chlorophyll has already been removed by the time you have kif, you can also use long soaks in a polar solvent like ethanol to dissolve the kif, without danger of unwanted pickup.
