Sup rule ~ I have never had a poor root problem before but I have experienced something like that I do believe…………………….dew to stem rot I don’t put my cubes that far down into the netpot so in most cases in my system the roots grow to be so massive that it pushes the plant up and out of the netpot and thus tilts the plant over……………………I found the problem to that…………..the netpots that I was using had to small of holes in it and would not let the large tap-roots go through, so I drilled some farley large holes in the netpots and have had little trouble since

Sup Mr GreenJeans ~ thanks for the prop’s, yea I think that this would be the ultimate guide to the Bio-Buckets I’ll lets yea know when I’ve completed it.

bartender187 ~ thanks bro for stopping by it’s good to see that your still following along.

Well I did mine like you said, I put the oasis cubes right on the top of the rocks. The only plant that did it seems to have a giant healthy rootball though. I should just try to keep shorter plants, LOL.

Sup rule ~ I’m not sure the reason why that your roots are not developing at a more faster pace, the only thing that I can think of is poor oxygen ~ seeing that O2 is the most reacting substance on the planet the more you have of it the better off you are and the faster your roots will develop…………………it has been my experience that you can run a lower (pH) level in your Bio-System as long as the 02 is high, anyways good luck with the rest of grows.

BT, you misunderstood me, all my plants have nice big rootballs. I was just saying, that isn't the reason. Maybe it's cuz I used tubs instead of buckets.

Big T,
Hows the smell on the HDF they are next in the line up for me. I have several rooted clones from a mother that I selected from seed. My mother plant and clones reek and in 100% vegatative state.

Sup GM ~ it is getting close to harvest for me so I’ll go ahead and give you what I think about the two strains that I am growing at this time.

Heavy Duty Fruity {H.D.F} there has been a lot said over the years about this plant and I’ve had a lot of Q’s ask of me about it……….so let me give you what BT thinks about H.D.F, the plant did good in germination for me and in Veg but it did not live up to it’s name for me that is, in flowering ~ resin is ok, smell is ok, and what looks to be like yield ok, but they all did not live up to my expectations maybe they were to high ~ over all I would grow this plant again but maybe from a different breeder.

AK-47 ~ this plant has lived up to what I had expected ~ yield, way more then I had expected. Very good!! Smell, overwhelming. Very good!! Resin, very good, I have only grown one other plant that has this much raisin and I don’t know what it was……………..over all, I will differently grow this plant again, btw it grows at the best even height of any plant that I have ever grown.

So to all you kool cats and dudes out there how are thinking about growing these two strains I hope this bit of info helps you out…………

Sup MM, ~ here’s the info that you wanted I do believe, sorry that it took me so long it’s just that I have been more than a little buzz………..

Well I started out with the H.D.F cutting from left to right a very nice harvest it was indeed ~ even thou that the H.D.F were taller and the meddle bud or canola was not as big as the AK-47’s…………………I was a bit surprised of the smell of the H.D.F because I was expecting a more fruity smell from it than what I got……………………I was a bit surprised on the over all size of the buds of the H.D.F because they were not as large as I expected………………….I did germinate the whole pack of seeds that came from {THSeeds} and pick out the best looking one that I thought would do the best ~ I do believe that if I grow this plant again I will try {Reeferman Seeds} it is said that he has found a way to improve this plant. I do not wish to disappoint any of you that are going to grow this plant because I enjoyed growing this plant and will grow it again and I think that it is worth growing.

Now we come to the AK-47 plant and I cant say enough about this plant it is simply amazing!!! Were to start, well let start off by saying that the smell of this plant over powered the H.D.F maybe that’s way I could not smell it the way I thought I should……………….but this plants smell is over welling if you decide that your going to grow this plant make sure that you have enough ways to cover the smell or every one that comes over WILL KNOW!!! These plants more evenly on average than the H.D.F does ~ and they were smaller then the H.D.F was but they mad up for it in BUD SIZE!!! The one big middle canola was amazing, and the resin was great also.

Now it’s time for me to explain something a little better if I can, I have had a lot of folks ask about using a smaller bucket …………….so I decided to give you a little pictorial of something that I have been talking about but not able to get across………………the fist pic is a five gallon bucket………………LOOK AT THE ROOTS!!! MASSIVE!!! …………The second pic is a four gallon bucket …………and will not fit!!! …………and the thread pic is a two an half gallon bucket and the ROOTS WILL NOT FIT!!! I truly hope this helps someone because I think that not understanding something is a big factor in not being useful in something……………..remember that if your going to be growing trees in your Bio-System save yourself some trouble and go with a five gallon bucket ~ if you not going to be growing trees then you mite be alright.

BT hell of a pull man great job... Me and my partner had some of the HDF and found it to be kind of fickle, had some root problems with it. The smoke we got off of it was awesome, you will not be disappointed... Its not couchlock at all, it is full on tripped out *wow* weed IMO, u will definitely have some excellent trains of thought running thru ur head when ripped on that stuff...I also read that Reeferman will be discontinuing the strain as it is problematic but if u want some i believe i saw them in inventory last time i checked his site...i'm growing nirvana ak-48 now and i basically got this crazy sativa pheno that is huge but taking forever to flower...way to grow again man, can't wait for a smoke report in a couple weeks

peace,
phat

ps i really like ur system and hope to get back into DWC but can't really afford to set it up at the moment, maybe after my next harvest as we get into the winter i will get something going bio-bucket style, the results cannot be questioned with DWC...

Wow! :woohoo: What a harvest! I'm trying to figure out how to make that work in my room with my equipment. Still have some reading and thinking to do. Each time I read your threads I get one step closer to moving to the bio-buckets.

I'm so glad I found this site. :woohoo:

All the best,
Mary

Johnstreet ~ thanks for stopping by man………..hope ya have a good one

00420 ~ yea those roots can get out of control if you grow large …………..I planted that one a week or so before I put the others in, so that I could make a tree out of it so show folks what will happen.

I have been studying all the hydro systems in these forums and I had decided a few months ago to go with the Bio Bucket system. I am in the process of getting the room ready to clear out a closet that is 28" wide by 6' long & 8' high. I have 5 buckets and fittings, hose a 6" elicent fan etc & a 635 gal per hour Eheim pump.
Ordering a 600W light and cool tube and a light rail, temp & humidity controler.
My plants are sexed and I will be using Sativa Spirit by Paradise. I will take pictures when I get the room cleared.I have to get dressers out and get rid of clutter so I can get into the closet to paint it white and set things up. I'm going to try the PVC snap together system to make my hangers for lights and fans I hope it works because I'm not allowed to make any holes. Thats all for now
Thanks Big Toke for a AWESOME TUTORIAL

One more question, I hope you don't mind. Do you flush the plants before harvest? I have done more reading and haven't found the answer yet.

Thanks for your help,
Mary

Sup SR ~ I wish you lots of luck on your project and your very welcome for the tutorial.

MM ~ no and yes let me explain, at full harvest my ppm would probably between 1200 to 1500 at the last week of harvest I do lower it to about 600 to 800 ppm.
