African photo thread

Hell yes! We used to buy herb from an Indian rasta years ago, family from up in durban, they had a Durban Poison style sativa that they called granadilla (had been growing ti for many generations up there), beautiful, golden herb, large swollen calyxes and great bud structure/ calyx to leaf ratio. Very strong African sativa, spicy, strong taste. Memories!
Where did you source the seeds from? Would be amazing if it was the same ;)

I'm near Seattle. A few month back I got a PM on local growers forum. Some guys that had been living in SA came back to the PNW with seeds. They were newbies and were afraid they would murder the strain so they offered it to me to safeguard.

It seems to be finicky but the smell is really nice. Ultra thin leaves and quite spaced out nodes. I used a small clone to breed her to the alien kush and the seeds should be ready in November.

I'm so stoked someone has heard of her! Malawi gold and Durban are popular out her, but I'm secretly hoping to blow folks away next spring with a mind numbing landrace sativa...

Yeah, Durban is a city on the east coast of South Africa. Popular growing area, port on the dutch east india trade route. Highest population of indian people in the world outside india itself so you know they took their genetics with them many years ago, in my opinion they hybridized with local sativa lines over the hundreds of years and some real gems emerged ;)

My naturalpyhic doctor has been telling I need to go visit India. Are you in Africa?

I've been running the cherry pie, (og x gdp x Durban poison) but she is unstable.

I'll post pix of the Granadillia flowers and maybe you can tell if it's the same?

Khat. No it is not legal haha or is ?
Found from Ethiopia and Yemen to the Eastern Cape of South Africa..

Funny, it is for decades a protected tree here in my country through multiple laws being an indigenous and endangered tree and got still 'outlawed' by the 'gov here a year or 2 ago as equivalent to 'schedule 1' plant in the States, a 'schedule 8' plant here. Lawmakers and policy makers have their heads up there asses it is official !

I have a few different khats from around africa for novelty and they grow wild around me..But stick to the plant form if you want to ingest, the other forms of the drug have a much lower safety threshhold. Try to get cuttings from somewhere and get the reddish yemen variety, it is quite a bit more potent than the rest.

Loving these pics of african genetics doing their thing around the world people. The swazi is 'rooi-baard' meaning red-beard and is looking good. Pests dont like it.

^ Depends where you are as to whether khat is legal or not. UK yes it is, Kenya yes it is, South Africa no- or at least not for chewing I doubt they can outlaw the plant as it is indigenous. They were selling the seeds at the botanic garden there for a while.

Had quite a big dose today as spring is the best time for it here in Australia, red variety. Not sure if it is Yemeni or Kenyan. Not sure if there is khat thread on here would love to see some examples of the varieties you have maryjaneismyfriend?

Reposted in the Sativa Thread but I will post it too for the african sativa lovers. So far, my favourite phenotype of the Swazi Rooibart aka Swazi Red this year, purple stems, frosty and late flowering! Smells "schhhhtrong" too! Can't wait to taste it! :)
