no leaves?

no leaves?

3 days and no true leaves
not good, i have heard of this mutation but had no desire to see it
or maybe very slow, kind of a yellow green something in between the cotyledons
i pretty much grow everything out, would drive me nuts if i threw out the holy grail
give it another day or so, maybe 2

UPDATE: a freak, the cotyledons continue to grow but the true leaves are missing
interesting example of genetics, don't feed the bulldog though

out with the freak, and it's nudged me to pop 1 of the original s1's once again
reason being that the NL#5xBW hermie is showing some interesting differences from the s1 hermies that i have come to know too well
it's still a hermie but the location of the blooms is different from the s1's
the s1's have blooms all over the bud, some worse than others, some better
the NL#5xBW blooms are showing up at the bottom of the buds, and only there
much easier to keep clean, looking pretty good at this point
pic is at day 1, for my memories sake

flower - day 54

flower - day 54

^^^ thanks for the moral support, makes me feel better down in the hermie trenches
closing in on completion with the 1st hybrid from this intersex line, and observations
this plant was a NL#5 x BrainWreck S1 pollen
1 - the intersex expression was reduced somewhat, the full balls have stopped
popping out, but a few roosters still popping out of the buds
2 - fewer balls did not translate to fewer seeds, it seeded more than the S1's, plenty of seedless bud too
i'm thinking that the S1's were less fertile, they were on the whole less vigorous
3 - smell is strong and yield looking good, the seeding took its toll but the hybrid vigour seems to have helped
4 - the mother was not a fast maturer, this plant is, mother was also pure rocket fuel, i hope that has been tamed a bit

old S1 - flower 0

old S1 - flower 0

and back to my roots so to speak
flowering another of the old S1's, if untainted a pollen chuck from the NL#5 x BW currently in flower
quite curious what the hermie ratio in such a cross would be
it's a stretchy pheno at this point it though has the hybrid look

and back to the S1's
no balls showing! guess i earned a break
has been defoliated, showing a kind of sativa daintiness, at least to me

harvest - nl#5 x brainwreck s1

harvest - nl#5 x brainwreck s1

10 weeks of 12/12
picture shows a gnarly looking beast
left it in its ugly look to show it had thoroughly ripened, brown fan leaf everywhere
and it spared me not with its hermieing ways, spewed jitz right to the bitter end
result? a plant with plenty of seed, but is still kick butt weed
smells and tastes lemon pine, excellent effect, a near perfect blend of the 2 parent's effect
decent yield even considering the seed effect's on usable weight
this what keeps me slogging the intersex path, a mix of good and evil

4 weeks flower

4 weeks flower

this is the current S1(original) in flower
clean female, keeping the ratio of pure/hermie near 50/50
this one is ripening fast and hard, probably could use a richer feed but such is life
more narrow leaf than average

6 weeks flower

and some days
a true femme still, genetics holding true
pure femme or outright intersex - no middle ground
sativa-esh, light leaved and thin
and not that thrilled with its feed
but still packing weight ok

9 weeks flowerbud

9 weeks flowerbud

where does the time go?
9 weeks and a lot of dead leaf around the bud
them dead leaves died heroes, the bud has swelled
but still a ways to go, feeling the narrow leaf here
maybe 11 week bud, patience
the leaf don't make for pretty pics but those buds are getting real pretty
she'll be cleaned up before cut, get a proper pic or 2

flower - day 104

flower - day 104

that's right, 104 days of flower - 15 weeks
why? because the trichs stay clear, clear, clear ...
never had this extreme of slow ripening, crazy
it is still packing weight, slowly though, heavy resin too
and it's purpling lightly to boot, lot going on in this plant
so far all of these S1s have had no edginess
so cut time it is

Interested to see if longer time equates to better sativa buzz.

and the smoke report

yield - 1/2 zip, most S1's yield modestly
smell - best feature, sweet cedar
taste - tastes like it smells, high ranker in the S1s

effect/potency - good potency, 6+ out of 10, a subtle creeper and gently up
recall that was 15 weeks of 12/12 and still nearly all clear trichs
potency likely reduced by 'early' cut, 15 weeks - what you gonna do?
and the low anxiety trait still strong, impressive for clear trichs

fresh summary for any new watchers
9 of 17 S1 grows have been normal femmes
she-males crashed the party with the other 8
other crosses were made with the original hermie pollen
a single NL#5 x BW was grown with a hermie outcome
time to get some better stats on this other path
onto a 2nd NL#5 x BW
1 week 12/12 already, outcome should be clear in another week

flowering slow, but pistils have popped
which has been the sign of 'good grow ahead' for all previous non hermies
interesting combo in traits
pretty narrowed leaved but very compact

greetings fellow intersex nerds, another data point
currently running the 2nd nl#5 x brainwreck hermie
definitely not intersex this time, the 1st was
45 days of 12/12, screwed up a bit on the water schedule
some dry scorched fan leaves from that
but the stress didn't provoke any intersex issues
just like the original S1s: full blown hermie or dead on stable
nothing in between
smell is top grade, call it lemon flower

closing in on a finish, about 9 weeks 12/12
fan leaves purpling and decent bud growth
cool grow temps in my partly heated grow room and it slows it up some
smell is really interesting
morphed into a very thick sweet smell, kind of like ice tea
but with some cannbis green odor thrown in
2-3 more weeks i hope
and it is still clear of dreaded roosters

84 days - 12 weeks of flower
looking like she had peaked, kind of low on the ambers though
not a bad looker, but small, 12 inches tall
less than an ounce, but looks to be just enough
most importantly not a rooster showed its face
so 1 out of 2 of the nl#5 x brain wreck hermie has bred true
i'll edit in a smoke report later

Smoke Report edit

type - 2nd of nl#5 x Brain Wreck - the hermie parent of the F1's
result - no hermie for this grow, 1st did - 1/2 of good femmes
yield - fair to middling, 1/2 oz or so
smell - real good, a sweet spice, almost cookie smell
taste - pretty fair, not quite as good as smell, quite decent though
potency- solid 8/10, lot of mom's power head rush, but moderated by BW side
effect - the 2 strains seem to mix recognizably, 50/50 like, power of nl#5, less anxious like the BW
