watup guys im on my first grow with this new 4x4 sunhut and i wanted to ask you guys what kind of pots and soil/rock mixture would be the best selection for my tent. i plan on doing about 7 plants w/ 2 600w lights.
Why are you posting in the hydro forum if you're looking for soil suggestions?
I don't know anything about soil but maybe get 2 2x4 trays for an ebb & flow setup?
or, if you don't want an active hydro system, go with coco. It's better than soil. Hard to overwater, fast growth, re-usable, doesn't come loaded with pests and spores like soil, etc.
Get a few 3-5 gallon pots and coco coir. There's a coco forum if you're interested.
Hey man I have done the 4 x 4 tent too try something like these dwc bubbler buckets.....I built these myself they are easy. Also if you do use hydro I like the lucas formula since im a rookie myself to hydro it is real easy...look it up on the forums. Peace and good luck. You can prolly get three of these buckets into your tent pretty easliy.
thanks.. im new but i have done ebb and flow 2 times
thanks.. im new but i have done ebb and flow 2 times
i have done 2 closet set ups in ebb and flow but my yeild was just never there... seems like my plants didnt get big enough. i used 2 inch coco baskets with a soil mixture w/ ebb and flow. 2 2x 4 trays w 2 600w lights.
so now i went up to the tent. i still have my old equiptment so i would like to reuse wat i got.
i got 2 2x4 trays 2 20 gal res. 2 600w lights 1 digital 1 old style.
so i like the idea of bigger buckets(5 gal) i just dont know how i want to set this one up because i was not that happy with my last 2 grows, so i would like to do something different. i was talking to some people and they say that when they water their plants manually with fresh nutrients everytime they water, they have had way better results than the ebb and flow where the nutrients sit for so long and get toppped off. and they say the plants will get alot bigger.
I don't know bout the fresh watering opposed to E&F res,I have 2 4x4 tents 1k in a cool tube over 6 or so in ffof and one in a 10gal tub full of hydroton/2cm rockwool cubes in one and a 600 in the other over a scrog,if I were you I'd throw both those 600's in the tent over whatever method you pick, my next run will be 4 5gal bucket rdwc in each tent flipflop 1k with Co2.
the scrogg is just the netting right?
yea i do have 2 600's , i was thinking about using them both, but wont that get too hot in there?
yo man i like the looks of those rdwc buckets. after i read on here that you want to try those next i saw blazeoneups forum post on the tutorial... http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=26343
looks pretty nice i think im gonna go with that method of buckets this time around in my tent.
so why would u just want to use 4 buckets and not 6-7 maybe???
I have mine filter>duct>6" axial(400cfm)fan>cool tube>duct>out,It works pretty good and my tent has negative pressure so I can trust there won't be any smell leaks here's a pic
Its an older pic,but it works awesome besides the cooltube that thing blows I need to get a different one in there I think I wana use the one that won the test of projection in a thread I read on here, but other than that this setup is has been runnin for prolly 6 months solid fan runs 24/7 too. And I was only tryin to keep my numbers down cuz I'm a legal grower woopdeedoo, but I should be gettin some others under me so I may go 9 per tent blazeoneup style, which that's the thread that inspired me to choose it but once I have the mulah I'll get a UC8xl or 12xl system but until then blazes rdwc is my definate choice for my next big project
Oh and as long as you have good flow and a/c hoods I'd ron both 6's all the way I'd spread and add soo much light,I wish my crappy house could take me runnin 2 250w mh on each side of my 1k
so this is what i got going on. Im gonna buy a new hood so i can get rid of that old one with baby vents on the side (2inch) my other light 6. im gonna get a 6 inch new one and i have a 10 inch can fan to cool these 2 lights in the 4x4
then i got a Elicent AXC 150B 6" (309cfm) Centrifugal Inline Fan scrubbing the room on that carbon filter and exausting out the top hole.
im ready to get the babys in here
im still thinking about what kind of buckets i want to build i like those big tokes and the blazeoneups im gonna base somethin off one of those systems not sure yet tho man i wanna try the DWC
Here is my 4x4 with 2 2x4 tables with 16 plants topfed in 1.7 gal pots of hydroton. I'm using a 600w in an adjust-a-wing for this run.
Once all plants are in the tables are covered with plastic.
As far as ventilation, this tent is overkill but it scrubs the air from 2 other rooms as well. I use a can fan 8" high output on a can filter 100
Any questions just ask, Good luck on your setup.
nice setup man! nice and clean lookin, thanks for posting the pics. what kind of yeild are you getting off those 2 2x4's w/ how many plants.
i have always wanted to do a drip feed setup since one of my buddys got a couple of huge plants off of a setup like this, how do you like it, you been doing it for a while?
i like the idea of splitting the carbon fliter and scrubbing other rooms as well. you think the one i got is gonna be big enough?
Thanks SGB. I have been running top-fed on hydroton for over 2 years now, before that I would hand feed soilless mix. Top feed allows for a smaller rez than does e&f, I use a 23 gallon rez for both tables.
I've only flowered in that tent once before and under a 1k. Yeild was light due to a number of problems along the way but I still managed 1.25# from it. I believe I can hit those numbers and better with a 600w A-A-W, time will tell. Follow the link in my signature and you can see my operation.
I always use 16 plants vegged to 8"-12" in the 4x4, 1 plant per sq ft. If plants are kept small 15 1.7 gal pots can fit in a 2x4 table.
1 600w in a 4x4 does not require air cooled hoods but 2 600's will absolutely need to be air-cooled. For efficency set your ventilation up like this: Filter - Fan - hood 1 - hood 2- out of tent. A greater degree of cooling is achieved by blowing through hoods as opposed to pulling. What size is your air filter?
General hydroponics DFS4 filter supposably has a cfm rating of 255-309
DFS4B Pounds of carbon: 16.5 Outside dimension: 14.96' Length: 9.84' CFM rating: 255-370 Flange size: 6' GENERAL HYDROPONICS CARBON FILTERS
thats all i could find on it.
for the light setup i was thinking about running a 10 inch can fan that i have cooling the two 600s and then also use that Elicent AXC 150B 6" (309cfm) for scrubbing the room
so i was thinking of having the it setup like this :
CARBON FILTER - 6IN FAN - OUT OF TENT
DUCT COMMING IN LEFT SIDE OF TENT (BY WINDOW) - LIGHT 1 - LIGHT 2 - DUCT GOING OUT RIGHT SIDE OF TENT - 10 INCH CAN FAN
would this be over kill ??? also do you think this would cost alot more rather than using just 1 fan??
