I have never looked up the stories of BOEL but from my limited info, where they not surfers that spread seeds ?, and bud everywhere they where surfing ? Always sounded like a pretty cool deal...

Info came from several people involved in breeding in Hawaii, including the guy who's crew brought HP13 to the Islands in the 90's.
Nev found his nl5 cut in a batch of nl1 f3,the same nl1 f3 he released in the seedbank catalogue in the late 80,s,he said this himself,it's how his nl5(the famous 1)was pure indica.the American 5 that he got later did have a touch Thai in it but didn't hold a candle to nevs 5.people forget nl was unknown most places,until nevil worked it then sold it and the seedbank made nl famous.and those folks that keep bringing up old habits are just jealous of what he achieved.nobodys done more since,same with haze.nevil made it famous.76

Nevil thought that Nl5 (the cutting) contained thai, but then corrected himself when the Hawaiian thing came out, the Nl5 he got later was lower for several reasons, including the fact that a seedline is not like a cutting selected...
A lot of info is written all over the place, and even Seattle Greg explained it a few times....
