EDIT: Scale gave false reading. Title should be "10lbs 3oz, 6x600's"
Close trim job, buds snap instead of bend ect.. No c02, no hydro, no vert! I knew this would come after all the hard work and years of experimenting with this one certain strain. I always got 1.75 per 600watt with her but now shes super dialed and im ready!!!! I never ran this strain under more than 2 lights, but as soon as i put it under 6x600's they liked it!! My buddy pulls 1.5lbs per 600 with her in a 48 site hydroton ebb and grow system from clone with 2 lights. Each clone comes out looking like a 2 liter!! It looks like Soquicks old runs, no lie! I will tell ya what i used but no application rates and dates just yet...
R/O water, Bcuzz coco (pure), modified at times 6/9 gh formula, cal-mag plus, blood bud, big bud, overdrive, hygrozyme, proteckt, great white, liquid karma, sweet, humics, fulvics, seaweed and one or two other secret indredients applied at different phases. This is a decent amount of products and im sure i could cut out 25% of them and still get same yield, but quality may go down.
Daystar a/c 6" hoods with no lenses running off the old 600watt 240volt only lumatek ballasts. 4 plants per light, each plant in a 5 gallon smart pot.
Automated low pressure drip system. Pretty much 2 basket drippers per plant. 1000gph fountain pump to run the drippers. Each plant gets about a medium shot of water 2-3 times per day depending on stage and size of plant. I like to water multiple times per day so i just calculate how much each plant drinks per day and split that amount into how many times i want to water. I experiment every run with different feeding frequencies such as how often and how long each feed cycle is. The way i time the drip system is to simply monitor the plants over a few days and see how much water they drink at different stages of growth. My goal is to keep the coco on the drier side at all times. To the point where you can grab a handful of it, squeeze, and little to no water will come out. Ive noticed that by keeping it at this consistency has allowed my plants to thrive! BUT... Watering just enough for the plants to drink also means you are not getting any runoff. Unfortunately when i use this method, i do have to occasionally flush due to salt build-up, but no more than once or twice max before the final flush. I use low feed (<600 ppm base nute) and high amount of waterings. Drip clean will not help you here because theres no runoff, but it will keep your lines from clogging! I used to water until runoff and never had to flush, but flushing is a small sacrifice for the yields i have improved on.
Plants like dry, wet, dry, wet, dry wet, as well as frequent waterings. Not to dry tho or they will stretch!!!! This makes them exhibit hydroponic growth and keeps ph ranges in check. When trying to water just enough for plants needs multiple times per day in coco or anything similar you must taylor your watering frequency, feed strength, pot size and coco/media mix corresponding to strain specific needs, plant sizes and stages/phases of growth. Watering frequency and feed strength also correspond to each other When watering this way. You must also monocrop or run strains with similar requirements. If you mess up in any of these areas, you can end up having not enough or too much water in your media, even if there is no runoff it can still be saturated!! I believe that watering schedule was the last factor in dialing in my strain and this is how i solved it.
Next time im thinking about ammending with 10-15% perlite and even more frequent waterings, because there was still a lot of area left in the media for roots to grow this previous run. So why not fill in those gaps with perlite and up the h20 exchange. Im just worried that if i up the waterings, i will get more nute buildup and need to flush more often which will then lead me to apply even less fertilizer which i think may be too little food for the plants. I feel i have already hit the sweet spot, but i never give up. We will see what happens. Just thought id share... To be honest i think i took one picture of the grow the whole time! At least it was close to finish time. Ill see if i can get it on here.
