Hi, Im Budelight. Been hanging around this forum for the past few years reading, sharing occasionally and just like the title says, "here we go again"

I will be getting restarted with this addicting hobby soon. Doubling the environment from my last grow by moving from a 70w hps to a new 150w hps – CANT WAIT! Constructing a totally new space to grow – moved and starting fresh. 2 different location options to work with –will post pictures of them soon-

Thinking about getting this fan again: Soler & Palau TD-100 In-line Exhaust Fan
And hooking it up to a trusted filter: Phresh Filter 4" X 8" 150 CFM (701000)

Seeds to be popped first round…

EDIT: Day 30 Flowering Shots start here

EDIT: Final Bud Shots start here

EDIT: MB's Smoke Report start here

I am on my cell so my answers will be limited. I think the white Jones would be a great start. Easy to grow and fantastic genetics. I have not grown out any of the others, but northern lights is a fantastic strain. Good for keeping short and stout. Good luck. I am out of the country atm, I will reply more when I get back.

OrganicBuds: Thank you for checking out my post! The white Jones will be the first to start. Once the system gets dialed in... really dont want to waste these jems. Under what conditions should they be stored for maintaining optimal germination rate?

MrCopyZ: Whats up?!? :) Happy New Years. The Northern Lights seeds i grew out last year were heavy plants. I grew it several times by taking clones and had a high female:male ratio!

Got my Aerogarden setup today and put 4 bagseed in there to test the gardens environment for germinating before using quality seeds. Will post more pics when things start developing.

1. Bagseed 1/1/13
2. Bagseed 1/1/13
3. Bagseed 1/1/13
4. Bagseed 1/1/13

Pump Cycle (hours): ON-17 / OFF-7

Note: Herbs/Basil" & "Strawberry" are the only settings for which the pump is always off when the lights are off. All other settings a have a "wet" interval, when the lights are off but the pump is still running.

Good luck getting back up and running. Isn't it just the best hobby ever? I have that S&P fan and it does quite well. I can't comment too much on the strains other than I run the Nirvana Northern Lights and love it! It produces great smoke, not a ton of leaves to trim, it's hearty as hell, takes the abuse I dish out, really low odor, which is very important for my stealth requirements, and, as MrCopyZ said, it is a classic!

Happy farming, stay safe!
Tex

TexMex McDirt - Thanks for looking in. Like what you have posted on NL in your attic grow, will have to finish reading it later tonight. The fan is powerful, quiet, and at the right price point! Doesn't get any better. I've grown the NL for the past year taking clones of 2 specimens i hatched out also. :) reading your thread is reinforcing a lot of my habits and its comforting, thanks! Good luck and stay high my friend.

PS. Any inprovements with the cloning since installing the heating pad? I've used a similar one in the past and i felt it help promote root growth but i didnt use it for cloning specifically. GL

I'm curious to see the outcome of this germination experiment. I too have just started growing again after buying a new house last spring. I don't know what my problem is but I am having terrible luck germing seeds.

I don't think the heating pad is doing much. It has been on for more than 24 hours and is barely warm to the touch. I am going to try building the water cooler cloner suggested on my thread by Chloemobile. I am hopeful that works for me, it sounds like a smart idea.

Cheers!

Hey socialist!! Hope you had a nice Day 1 as im calling it.. my Day 2 was veryyy busy at work. I am completely infatuated with growing this beautiful flower and have always wanted to get some strong genetics and do some breading experiments of my own... alas. I checked today and didn't see the seeds poking their heads out yet. Im actually renting right now and dont have any extra space, kinda the issue im working out. How are you trying to germinate seeds? Maybe i can help... i used to over think/do when germinating seeds - then i started to grow other plants and got more comfortable with what to expect. Good Luck

TexMex McDirt very weird about not getting any heat, i would assume it is a defective unit and bring it back to the pet store and ask for a replacement. Thats not right unless it says on the package that it is a low temperature pad .... I clone in my aerogarden when i grew last time, then started buying rockwool cubes and cloning in a tupperware.

Holla Fly by Night!! Thanks for saying Hi :) Im in a place much more accepting of what i am trying to accomplish however I dont have enough space or the chutzpah to yet invest much money with the fear of having to stop/move/etc

The first time i tried growing marijuana in an aerogarden, i was concerned with finding the best setting to run the plants on. Unless you have a newer (ie, more expensive) model than the one i have - - you are restricted to the light schedules pre-programmed.

Attached is a photo of the chart for each setting and its Lights and Pump ON/OFF schedule.

Additionally, I wanted to mention that this is from an aerogarden kit which is designed to allow for the grower to put their own seeds in the system. The pods look similar to coco fiber, but are sponge like and molded into a pod shape. I stuck 2 seeds (left) almost completely under the surface and 2 seeds (right) sitting on top of the medium.

I've tried the paper towel, debriding, presoaking, cracking, and putting them straight into the plug. My success rate has been about 10%. Luckily I kept a mother BMR going so at least I have one good strain. My problem might be the seeds. I don't want to talk shit though because the breeder is popular around here and I don't really know if thats the problem.

Still out of the country, but I will quickly answer your question regaurding the storage of seeds.

If you are going to use the seeds in less than 6 months, keep in a dark cool spot that doesn't flucuate in temps by more than 15 degrees.

6m-3years - Put in the fridge. I like to buy mylar bags that heat seal. I also add Desiccants, or raw white rice.

3y-20y - Keep in freezer. Also store in mylar bags and add Desiccants.

I was just at my friends house last night and he showed me the aerogarden he got for christmas. I told him about your thread so we decided to throw some seeds in as well. He is a seed junky so there was quite the selection.

I AM A FASINATED WITH SEEDS ALSO!

UPDATED 1/18:Tonight I started nutrients.
Day 1 of veg.
Temps are a steady 85* F without any ventilation.

Type-o-seed ----- (Planted) (Germinated) (Flowered)
1. Bagseed ------- 1/12/13 --- 1/18/13----
2. Bagseed ------- 1/1/13 ---- 1/6/13 -----
3. Bagseed ------- 1/1/13 ---- 1/6/13 -----
4. Bagseed ------- 1/1/13 ---- 1/5/13 -----
5. Northern Light -- 1/5/13 ---- 1/9/13 ----
6. White Jones ---- 1/5/13 ---- 1/8/13 ----
7. Northern Light -- 1/5/13 ---- 1/9/13 ----

Observations: White Jones has hella purple stems! all the other seedlings had greenish stems, some look like a dark blue. but the White Jones is straight purple. Also noticing some spots on the leaves of bagseeds #2, #3, & #4, i think it was because i didnt feed them for so long. Just added nutrients tonight.
Nutes: Foli Orgsnic's Ultra Veg - ratio of 20ml:1gal (aerogarden 7)

Update: Bagseed #1 Has finally germinated. Feels like tonight is the first night they are all together, growing under the same two cfls. I doubt the lighting will get upgraded before they cover the entire light spread. My 150w hps bulb should be here by now... damn mail system.

Photo #1 is the whole family
Photo #2 is the elders

UPDATE 1/23

UPDATE 1/23

Hey All! - Are the weeks flying by for you, like they have been for us?

Added another 10ml of veg nutes. Never used this brand before so we will see how it performs.
Day 5 of veg.

Type-o-seed ----- (Planted) (Germinated) (Flowered)
1. Bagseed ------- 1/12/13 --- 1/18/13----
2. Bagseed ------- 1/1/13 ---- 1/6/13 -----
3. Bagseed ------- 1/1/13 ---- 1/6/13 -----
4. Bagseed ------- 1/1/13 ---- 1/5/13 -----
5. Northern Light -- 1/5/13 ---- 1/9/13 ----
6. White Jones ---- 1/5/13 ---- 1/8/13 ----
7. Northern Light -- 1/5/13 ---- 1/9/13 ----

Observations: The plants are trying to tell me what they want with the nutrients, but I cant hear the plants yet... any clue?
Nutes: Foli Organic's Ultra Veg - ratio of 10ml:1gal (aerogarden 7)

Update: Finally got my 150w HPS in the mail :woohoo: just need to take care of ventilation before installing. Still trying to design the cabinet so that we can avoid light leaks while keeping noise to an absolute minimum due to the fact that the cabinet has to be in our bedroom.

I have designed a ngb style cab in the past, however for this one i have been considering using the bottom half of the cabinet for flowering, with a vertical 150 hps and some cfl's cool-tubed up to the veg room above it, using the heat from the flower room to promote germination and root growth. Then at the top of the veg, installing the fan/filter exhausted out the back... Wraping the interior with Reflectix is also on the todo list.

...But, im still open to ideas!
