Conor struggled against Mendes grappling but managed to win; Khabib has been good at avoiding heavy strikes and absorbing those he does get caught with. Mcgregor has excellent timing and accuracy as well as a lot of power for his size.
I am interested in how he does against Khabibs sweeps and trips.
In the press conference he mocked Khabibs style as cowardly. I expect trying to goad him in to standing, which of course would be better for Conor.
I am hoping Khabib dominates Conor from start to finish.
But kudos to Mcgregor should he defeat Khabib. With Aldo, Alvarez and Khabibs scalps it would make it difficult to deny his legitimacy.
But I hope he gets absolutely mauled.

The left high kick and the straight left are major weapons in combination .
Throw the left kick get the guy reacting by guarding his ear , fire the straight left . No defense because the right hand is guarding the right ear .
Cro Cop`s game was the opposite throw straight lefts to get the right hand guarding the nose / jaw . Fire the left high kick at the ear .

Even I'm going to watch this one. Haven't been paying attention lately after that fraud-- Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather. That was a straight up fixed "fight", right out of WWE. Khabib can only lose this if he is stupid and tries to stand and slug. If he takes him down, he will keep him down and punish him, hopefully. OTOH, he may carry him to assure a rematch. Don't really like either guy...

That fight between Ferguson and Pettis was epic. Lewis getting the ko with seconds left in the fight. Excitement for sure. Sorry Conor could not do better than he did but not unexpected either.

Well, im a little bit disappointed that conor wasnt able to do better against khabib. Most experts had khabib dominating this fight, and that's pretty much what happened. Conor's an arrogant blowhard, even a thug and bully at times, but i find his trash talk mostly amusing. I feel he's almost like Muhammad Ali with the outrageous things he says, but maybe im just delusional.
Everyone thought conor's only chance was to catch khabib on the chin with a straight left, but conor didnt get any punches in till the 3rd and 4th round and none seemed solid or damaging.
Do you think it was because he came in with the wrong game plan, trying to stalk khabib and come at him? If he had hung back and made khabib come at him, try to counterpunch if khabib swings or punch if khabib shoots for a takedown, would conor have been able to keep the fight standing?
All i know is, with a game plan like that, khabib wins a rematch 97-99 out of 100 times. He took conor down in the 1st and tired him out on the ground (although conor did an admirable job with his wrestling defense), in the 2nd buckled conor's knees with a powerful right hand and then took him down and wailed on him with gnp (announcer: "why isnt conor trying to get up?" Rogan: "because khabib is beating the crap out of him"), the 3rd maybe was even as they traded shots while standing (maybe khabib was tired from the gnp, couldnt finish any takedown attempts that round), and the 4th traded shots before khabib took him down and submitted him when conor exposed his back trying to get to his feet.
It wasnt even close, conor just got dominated this fight. If they do a rematch, i think he has to sit back and make khabib come to him, and also really work on his BJJ and fighting from his back. He never used his feet to push on khabib's hips when khabib was on top of him, just kept them wrapped around his back. He never tried to go for a submission or armbar from the ground. Any success he had on the ground came from illegal tactics: kneeing khabib in the face when khabib was a downed opponent (knees on mat), grabbing the fence with his toes, grabbing khabib's gloves.

I'd be interested in a rematch. I think conor has proven that he's able to come back in rematches with a better gameplan, better preparation. I rewatched the fight, he was able to survive the initial GnP and land some shots in the 3rd and 4th, although none really hurt khabib.
Plus it was his first mma action in 2 years, i think he was definitely rusty.
I think he'd do better in a rematch. Does that mean he'll win? Well... probably not. I'd give him at most a 20, maybe 30% chance at winning a rematch. He'd really have to work on his ground game to have a chance. When khabib ties up his opponent's legs on the ground, trapping their feet between his legs, why don't they roll him over? Khabib is basically balancing on his knees which are close together, it should be easy to just twist your torso and roll him onto his side? Or maybe i dont know what im talking about...
