Gonna go ahead and get this thread started.

Doing a swamp grow this year. Had a pretty good learning experience last year so now im moving into the swamp. Got 20 of the 32 gallon trash cans ordered, should be available for pickup next week. This will be updated alot so im sure most will get tired of it but im putting in all the stuff ive always wanted to see from other peoples grows.

STRAIN= Jack Flash x Aussie Super Skunk...seeds are soaking now. Starting 80 of them. Im planting 4 per container. Hoping for in the end i have 1-2 females per trash can.

SOIL- Just using some of the Jungle Growth soil from Lowes. Bought 20 bags and that came to $145. Should need another 10-15 but my truck wouldnt hold all that.

60+ acre swamp

The entrance to the first trail. This will all be 6inches of water soon. Regardless i can bearly find the actual entrance most the time. Nobody is going back there anyway.

Once into the under brush it opens up to this trail. It will all be water, snakes and gators soon.

Nice! I'm fond of swamp / marsh grows myself. Never have to water, plenty of sun, not too many 2 legged critters around.

I'm glad I don't have to watch for gators in my neighborhood!

Thanks Boroboro! Yeah the gators are gonna suck but they are good eatin so whatever..haha

Here is how im starting and carrying out the seedlings. Had some cracking already so i made this one up. You can carry 24 out at a time. They will stay in these for a couple weeks after sprouting. Ill leave them out at the site too. Not going to mess with all the light cycle crap starting them indoors. I cut holes in the bottom of the cups so you can just poor water in the plastic tote instead of watering each one.

i will be using trashcans this season as well. One great thing is even if your area floods youll still more than likely be ok. good luck man can't wait to see what happens. only problem i can forsee is them tipping over in a big storm. maybee put some rocks in the bottom to make em nice and heavy?

Im hoping as long as the soil kinda wet it will be enough to hold them down. First year doing anything like this outside so if i pull one out of 20 ill be happy.

You cutting holes in the bottom of yours?

I take advantage of the sterilite totes too. I use the big 106qt ones as cold frames to start seeds in. On the big ones you can leave the lids on to cut down on evaporation and save yourself some watering efforts.

Gonna keep an eye on this one.

Yeah stick around John. Im moving 20 bags of soil out there in the morning. Ill take some pics..Its a whole full size F150 load of soil and i have to walk each bag about 200 yards....good times..

still2big, are the bottom of the trash cans going to be in the swamp water or is your path the only thing that will submerged, do you let the swamp water feed your plants or do you go back out and water and feed every once and awhile...Frosted

Im thinking they will be about 1foot under water or less. Once the rains come i wont have to water. Until then, not real sure. Im close enough to run a real long water hose out there if i need too. Im hoping its gonna rain enough for me not to have to do that.

For ferts im using a couple different time released products. Staying away from organics. The coons love that shit and they dont care about getting wet.

do you have ferts in the soil all ready? is that how the are time release or did you purchase some mix in's or liquid ferts, also what kind of soil is key for gorilla grows such as yours

People use all kinds of soil. The crop in the pic only had this kind of soil(Jungle Growth from lowes) and thats it. I didnt even use any ferts. I am going to use Expert Gardener Bloom & Veg Slow release fert on half and this other Scotts brand on the others. Got the Expert Gardener at walmart, the other at lowes. I will mix them into the soil and see what happens. If i have to add some ferts to the top later thats fine.

Then you have people like Fast Pine on here that 1/2 way bury 3 gallon pots into pretty much dust for soil and are pulling 3/4lb plants all day long...i still have lots to learn

Thanks man! I figure ill have about $600 bucks into it when im done. Even if everything goes wrong i still have 20 trash cans full of soil that I can move some 24in clones too this winter. You can grow here all year long...

Looks like a plan! I wouldn't advise watering the seedling cups with underneath watering unless you fill the whole tote up with water and pour it all out (ebb and flood).. I've seen it time and time again, allowing water to sit in the bottom of the water catch for long periods of time prevents oxygen from getting to the roots and kills any that are under the water line, leading to less root mass, and this will also promote root rot fungi which can quickly colonize on the roots and make for unhealthy plants...

Go ahead and poke holes in the bottom of the carrier, and use a watering can to totally saturate all soil in the cups. water until it runs out the bottom of the cup... This will allow all the roots in the cup to receive adequate water, and will promote a thicker root ball, instead of growing a few diseased roots at the bottom of the cup and none up above.... :)
