Day 63 from seed - Day 37 under 12/12 - Day 24 Bloom

The ladies are now starting to put on some weight. More trics are forming and the sticky is gettin more icky.
The Deadhead OGs and Vortex are still ahead of the pack in terms of development, but the others are doing just fine. Only the sativa dominant Cheeseberry 2 is still all pistils, with few trics and no swelling.

My favorites so far are: Cheeseberry 1, Deadhead 1 and Pineapple Diesel 3.
Cheeseberry is very Blueberry like, with some sour/ puke like under tones.
Deadhead OG smells like sweet candy.
The Pineapple Diesel is a surprise, really complex. Like the description on their site, pineapple / roadkill. Although i don't consider the smell of roadkill pleasant, it's different when combined with all these terpenes.

Ok, i'm looking to improve my feeds. The last feed i gave them was 1.6 ec, and the runoff was only 1.2. I'm not sure if they truly need more, as their leaves look quite healthy and appear rather dark than light. I don't wanna go crazy and cause lockouts, if that's not already the case.

My base nutes are Canna Coco's A and B. NPK each bottle 5-4-3.
I add Hesi's PK13, Root stimulator and Enzyme.
Any tips on how i should combine Canna's A/B and Hesi's PK13.

Canna recommends to add their PK13 only once, full dose on week 3 bloom.
Hesi says to add their PK13 on week 4 - 7. Starting small and increase every week.

...

So meanwhile in the Darkroom100 Veg tent, most clones are in full veg mode.
Unfortunately one of the few clones that are struggling is the Pineapple 3 clone, the only left from that pheno. As mentioned above, this pheno is currently in my top3.

I'm going to top the clones soon and let them establish a better root system before I think about transplanting them to a bigger pot.

Everything is looking great. Man look at that professional looking clean drip system. lol

I learned to copy my nutrient ideas from pros that crush yields with low consistent feeds. So 1.0ec for ur base and .2 ec for pk 13/14 borrowed from the man, heath, he gets 1.5 to 2 gpw, with it, and its got me my best yields too.

Oh stop it you. haha

Yes now I remember I was told this too before.. u know regarding the 1.0 ec and .2 ec pk13/14. That seems to be a good rule of thumb.

But what week would u start, and when to stop? Hesi says to add it during week 4 - 7. Canna says only once during week 3. Also i read somewhere that too much PK can ruin the taste.

Start at decent flower set, around 25 ish, and finish adding the boost about 2 weeks before chop. that's my take on it, when I use it.

i got a beautiful deadhead pheno.. that produces some of the nicest looking and smelling buds.. and it is deff super potent..

Good for you man.
I can't wait til i get mine.
Just too bad that out of 7 seeds only 4 popped, out of those 4, i got 2 fems and one of them got a weird grow pattern.
But the buds of both phenos look and smell identical.

Does your Deadhead also start to flower exceptionally fast?

Looking great in here bro I'm gunna jump on board for the finish ATB with the rest matey..

Tnx bro... We still got about 6 weeks to go.

Day 70 from seed - Day 44 under 12/12 - Day 31 Bloom

Now in the middle of week four it's more like cruise control.
There's not much maintenance but refilling the tank every 5 days.
I've been giving them PK13/14 in small doses. But at the end of this week I will feed em PK13/14 one last time, basically aim for the 1.0 base nutes / 0.2 ec PK which we mentioned earlier.

The weather is much cooler now and it shows in the tent, where i'm getting 26- 27C in the warmest spots. Now i'm thinking of using the super lumen function on my lumitek ballast. Does anyone here use that function? I've never used it because i thought it just creates extra heat, but with my temps going down i might try it.

The slower flowering phenoes like the Cheeseberry Haze 2 also started to get thick and produce trichomes. The bud structures all around are getting more defined and the odor is steadily developing. For example the Cheeseberry Haze 1 that smelled like bubblegum and berries is now changing to something more sour like grapefruit.
The Pineapple Diesel 3 still smelling like that diesely/roadkill / pineapple funk... the Pineapple Diesel 2, although looks almost the same, smells much more like pine and diesel. No sweet or fruitiness whatsoever.

I can't get any special aromas from the Cheeto Kushes yet. Their much milder, maybe being overpowered by the others.

....

Now on the other side I got my clones in a pre fertilized soil mix. It's been 16 days since i planted them in these starter pots. They're under 110w fluros. I topped these clones just 2 days ago to promote side branching.

As a newbie to growing clones, i'm not sure if mine are growing alright.
They seem to grow fast above the soil, but i lifted one out of the pot to look at the root system and I hoped for a bit more roots to be honest, see pic below... please note, thats not the root system of that clone in the solo picture.

I'm planning to switch to 250w HPS in the next few days, hope it will stimulate the root growth.

.....

Nice bro!!

Interesting how the aromas change with time.

On the super lumen issue. It adds 10% more lumens and heat, so go for it. Ive heard it can reduce bulb life, but if u change the bulbs often then who cares right, Use it up and replace!!

As far as the roots grow its a matter of keeping them moist and with oxygen at the right levels. So dial in ur amount of water and they will start to explode!

Hows ur temp and humidity been? I see a little bit of taco'ing or praying indicating slight mg deficiency.

Temps are 24 - 27 C, RH 40-45%.
Yes, I noticed the taco'ing about 2 weeks ago but i think its only with the Vortex. All 3 of them have it and they arent even next to each other. So could be strain dependent.
But I think i will give em some extra mg after the final PK feed.

nice work , love coco in dtw , what is your calc for drain ?

new ec = old ec - 1/2 new ec x 2 ?

thanks man..
I never heard of calculating the drain.
I know it's good to measure it, but I don't really use it to determine the ec for my next feed because i got multiple strains so the drain is somewhat unreliable.

Looking good Green ,have you found a keeper yet ? Kelp works good for roots .Wondering why u used soil instead of coco for clones. B

yea i got a few faves already.

Both Deadheads are identical. They have a refreshing lemon candy aroma to them, its amazing. but they didnt stretch much in flower.

The Cheeseberry Haze 1 is has that sour rotten fruit smell that overpowers everything else in the tent. She grows to a good size and think it will be a decent yielder.

I also like 2 out 3 of my Chucky Brides. Both of them are identical, tropical and cheesey...

Pineapple Diesel 3 is is also quite pungent and has a unique terpene profile. Skunky, sweet, fuel...

I will need 13 plants for my next run so i got enough spots for all of them, should they pass the first smoke test.

And the reason why i got these clones in soil is because ill grow em out as moms. I figured soil will take less maintenance than coco. The cuts that i will take from them will be grown in coco again and used for the next run.

Ah I see sounds like a good plan for the moms although big pots of coco are pretty low maintenance for moms and use the same juice too. Good thread ..:tiphat:B

Day 77 from seed - Day 51 under 12/12 - Day 38 Bloom

Thanks guys!

A week ago, I changed the light in the clone tent to 250w HPS.
All clones got topped the day after.

3 days ago I transplanted the clones from starter pots to 3.5 l / 1 gal pots.
I noticed how the root development varied greatly between them.
Some clones only had a few tiny roots holding together the soil while others had thick, white roots circling a few times around the bottom part of the pot.
Regardless of that, their development above the soil seems to be much more synchronized.

What's your opinion in regards to the clones with lesser root development, will they pick up once their environment hits their sweet spot?

...............

On the other side i got the flowering moms. Some phenos have still a lot of hair, while the pistols of the other plants are starting to recede, their clusters swelling everywhere.

In the last week I fed them 5 days of base nutes, canna boost plus enzyme but no PK13/14.
The tank got refilled starting the 5th week, giving em one last dose of PK13/15. ec 1.4, ph 6.2

Soon i should look out for a few early harvest candidates, so i can make sure to give em a proper flush.

How do you guys flush?
Based on Canna's nute plan, the last week the plants should get un-ph'd water only.

Peace!

Day 84 from seed - Day 58 under 12/12 - Day 45 Bloom

Alright, this run is nearing its final phase.
To avoid a major trimming session I decided to chop 3 early finishers on bloom day 58.
That would most likely be Chucky's Bride# 1, Cheeto Kush# 2 and Vortex# 3.
This means I will start to flush em soon to give em about 8 days of flush.
Not sure about this, but i think i'll use un ph-d water, like Canna says.

Another 3 plants will come down on day 63 and the rest will come down on day 70.
The Cheeseberry Hazes still have lots of white hairs, so i'm not sure if they're even gonna be ready by then. But they're coming down regardless, due to the clones waiting for their turn. I will make up for it in the 2nd run, when i have all the time needed to let them reach their peak.

I got one problem though. The Deadhead OG #4 has a couple branches, with leaves turning yellow and wilting. Could it be due to lack of light? Its a branch that was overshadowed by taller branches for a long time. I just recently defoliated the area.
You can see what i mean in the first pic, in the middle, you'll see a small bud with a yellow leaf. Starting from that point downwards, it's pretty much yellow.
....

A few updates on the clones in the DarkRoom 100 tent.

Their growth rate exploded after the watering they received yesterday.
It was only their 2nd watering in the new pots, after the initial one.
Roots are now visible through the bottom drain holes. So it was just a matter of getting the right climate around the rootzone to stimulate their growth.

The plan is to veg them 10 more days, then ill take cuts from them which will be used for the next run.

However, I will keep 4 of these moms to be flowered out in soil under 250w in the DR100 tent, as soon as the new clones move in the DR120 tent, after everything is harvested.

So eventually I'll have 9 selected cuts scrogged in the DR120 tent and 4 moms flowering out in the DR100 tent.

Lots more work ahead :)

I know some other people like to use water only as a flush at the end, but my take on straight coco is to not over feed ever. At 1.0 to 1.2ec all its life all I do at the end is top up the res with fresh water so the ec drops. IMO I think its better to have a little nutrient in the water to help the cec stay on target and allowing the plant to utilize nutrients intstead of keeping them stored because of being out of balance by adding water only. It makes the ratio of nutrients go out of what coco needs to absorb them. ph still needs to be in that 5.8 to 6.2 range in the end as well for the same reason. This always produces excellent quality for me.

Ending at 1.0ec with never overfeeding will produce excellent flavor. But if I have the chance to reduce I let the ec drop as low as .2 or so just to keep the nutrient ratios correct.

The plants look great. Look forward to hearing which ones u enjoy the most.
