7th week of flowering

7th week of flowering

Really dug the taste, aroma, and high from the samples I took. :woohoo:
However I was a lil bumbed I took them after watching that PBS nature show on plants communicating.

 I'm getting an itchy trimming hand, these plants seem to be a week or two from harvest. I have seen no new pistols, and the pistols that are there 75% of them are amber and retracting.

Dr C, et all

My 3 yo 8 bulb Quantum Bad Boy hot5 432w hot5 with a variety of grow and aquarium lights has been collecting dust for ~ 6 months

Why?

The high cost of replacement bulbs and their shorter than advertised tube life expectancy

I slowly switched to LEDs, with less than comparable results for a good while

LEDs have come of age, outshining my hot5, rewarding me with bigger phatter buds

Drop by my thread if interested

:tiphat:

Hi PF, wow feeling the love here at IC :woohoo: I have read lots and love what I see.

I went hot5 for learning curve plus off the bat start up cost.

I would live to dive into led, been watching them for years but Iv just been to afraid to dive in. I always got lost in the hype.

I would love to invest but of the top few brands I'm not sure who has something worth dropping like 1000. My whole set up cost that

PS

plus I had to prove positive my ability and concept to Ms. Dr. C went old school cheap cool reliable....after this harvest we r both already redesigning for the upscale. Yeehaw.

....time has passed, here is a pic.

I am Soooooo very tempted to harvest. Learning the patience to wait till things are ripe has been, and will be an on going struggle.

This is one of the nicest T5 grows I've seen in a long time. Way to go. Love that strain and what you've done with it.

You can start removing ~ 80-90% of the fan leafs
Why defoliate so late into flower? I have been weening them down off of newts to an almost flush anticipating harvest, I thought the goal was to let the plants finish up using their own food stores.

Cap'm u r too kind :tiphat:

Thanks again for everything m8's, I can't tell u all how much everyone's help and support has meant for me my garden and those it cares for.

Ok took a small sample from each plant. Here it is broken up ready for a quick dry.

Love the colorful surprise I got upon breaking open the bud in top left part of the pic. :peacock:
Which is from Watusi the plant on the right in my grow.

>>>Why defoliate so late into flower?

Some people do this in order to get light to the lower buds so they will ripen up a little better. I've found it doesn't make much of a difference, and removing fan leaves now is just a PITA.

>>>I have been weening them down off of newts to an almost flush anticipating harvest, I thought the goal was to let the plants finish up using their own food stores.

I agree. If you have some obnoxious fan leaves you can pull them off now, but I usually just let it go until I start to see leaves turn yellow.

Very colorful and VERY frosty. I would grow this pheno over and over! Looks like you have a kief box there? Do you use that to get kief off your trim?

Incredible turn out for bagseed. Did you take a clone of it? Or do you have more seeds? What's next? Do you have something in veg right now?

I can understand that point of view, I just worry with the leaves been not only food factories and warehouses but also the source of some rather important hormones.

Me to I have really enjoyed growing these. Sadly no clones survived, but I do have more beans which I plan to hang on to.

Nothing in veg ATM, lost my veg space and will be relocating and hopefully upgrading my flowering cab after harvest.

Why yes that is my lil keif box I store my meds in and yes do dry sift runs with. I offset the lid and set it next to a fan in a closet as a makeshift quick drying chamber.

What's next...not to tease but I may be getting my hands on some uber magic beans. I'm thinking LED (if Santa hooks me up) plus the T5's as wall/back up lighting all shining down on a blumat coco SOG.

Sample smoke report

Sample smoke report

:woohoo::biggrin::dance013:

Here I sit proud to know this buds entire journey.

Ok WA#1 (the plant on the left):

Smells of Fruity pebbles with melon undertones, sweet smooth flavors that matched the aromas but had a more pronounced lingering melon flavor. Mellow leggy cerebral high.

WA#2 Watusi (....plant on the right):

Stoney.... had a quick taste, but I'm waiting till the first one wears off to give my fullest attention to taste, aroma, smokeability.

For now I leave with a pic.

8 weeks flowering.

8 weeks flowering.

So I slammed the light down a week ago and all I can say is I wish I had done it sooner. Over this week both plants started throwing new pistols and the buds have started to foxtail.

Just finished smoking the last of the samples I took and now I gotta chain my trimming hand up till these ladies finish up.

Not the best pics sorry still using an ipad.

Hey doc great work, these ladies are beautiful! Those samples look yummy :canabis:

I'm interested to see what kind of numbers you get, t5's are certainly a great way to keep initial costs down. I've been thinking about snagging one myself

From ~ 3+ years experience using a 432w Quantum Bad Boy hot5, the hidden cost of replacement bulbs adds up fast

With some led panels, there is separate o/o switches for veg and flower, which is a big help.

Attempting to change out 4ft bulbs over a grow is a PITA
