Any updates AJAE? In a doughnut vert setup are you manicuring the back side of the plants that aren't facing the light?

My man Draztik Whats good Im actually just waiting for roots to pop out.... all the KKSC veggers got cut for babes and are in a dome. So I suppose theyll be in solo cups in the next 10 days. I Do plan to cut the backs that arent getting any light I plan to spread the branches out in a screen manner except using bamboo was always pretty good with bamboo sticks.

Any vert heads wanna chime in ? I should cut all branches that arent seeing direct light correct and any budsite as well ?

But yea kinda boring right now draztik lol but like I said its moving just taking baby steps and relaxing.

Yes. anything that branches the opposite way from the bulb gets pruned. Unless u can bend it to the side of the screen and need it to fill the screen in. also some of the branches that go straight at the bulb can be pruned, again unless u need them to fill the screen and u can bend them sideways to the screen. Its all about filling the screen without overcrowding.

Ichabod crane has some good pics of pruned plants in his thread and albums. I will see if I can get a pic of the type of pruning im talking about.

Pruning vert scrogs

Pruning vert scrogs

Alright heres a couple pics of pruning for vert scrogs.

Of course its strain dependent, and like all training u have to do it a few times to really know what works best.

These first 2 pics are of a kksc reveging. I caution to not prune too much too early. u can always pull off what u don't need right as ur starting flower. This will allow u to make sure that u can fill the screen better.

And the next 3 pics are of a full size kksc on the screen about 2 weeks in flower. U can see the back side where I pulled up the reflectix and notice the spots where branches were pruned that would have grown away from the bulb. We don't need these branches. And the last pic is the front side of the same plant.

These are excellent pics ! thanks mirac

I think Im going to give these bamboo sticks a go this round and then Ill try the screen around my doughnuts next time and see the comparison .

Are bamboo sticks to tedious for people nowadays ? I never thought they were that bad.

People use them all the time, no biggy. I like screens cause I feel like I have more places to tie to making a more perfect canopy. If its mainly cola formations ur after on single bulbs, they are great. If ur after double stacking lights and filling in every inch then screens are definitely the way to go imo.

I use a plastic coated aluminum stake from menards in veg. It does not rot out and carry any nasties with it. Cost more in the short run but I have been using the same stakes for four years. Have only broke one, and it was only about three inches I lost.

As for flower I just can not get the control when tying that I get with a screen. Must easier to spread the branches out.

Def see what you mean in a stacked set up I can def see the adv. of a screen def the way to go !

Ive always used bamboo sticks so i guess that ole mechanic saying " if it aint broken dont fix it" is what Ill stick by lol

I will be doing a single 600w dropped in the middle of a 8 plant circle so I guess thats why they've worked.

will try the screen after this round though and throw up a comparison

**maybe its the fact that I cant get that bamboo fence I always wanted in my backyard yet so the sticks hold me over for now :D aha

I see what you mean Ichabod will look into those. The stakes you speak of are the same concept as bamboo's correct just a more durable/quality product ?

OR

are they like a tomato cages ? Tomato cages look cool too has any had experience using those ?

I guess the main point is that there needs or is optimal if you want to say to have some sort of support system for the ladies

everyone agree :D

They are like bamboo but have small groves to tie to easier. Come in different lengths from like two foot up to six foot.

Ok cool Ichabod im going to look into those.

Ok everyone so a couple of my old school. mag. ballast finally pooped out on me lol only got 1 left sadly these babes were the shit although they get hot ass fuck didnt feel too safe about that aspect of them to be real.

So my friend gave me a couple extra digital ballast he had in storage he uses 1000w not 600's so now that I use 600's I took them off his hands you could say :D ahaha

So I was wondering fellas are these digital ballasts the new shit like a tesla you could say ? those things amaze me aha

Ive heard RF stories but i dont plan on going over 3k for sure and im using 600's.

Anyway I plugged a couple in dont got 4 bulbs laying around to plug all in. and went around with my radio on a clear am station I got a little static here when I got inches from the back of the ballast literally had to be inches and a little randomly near the bulb socket inches again but nothing too crazy though station was still pretty clear. and this was with two plugged in keep that in mind. I heard shortening the cord from the ballast to the bulb socket helps but how are people achieving this do they sell shorter cords ? Will also line the cord with foil tape. Im just doing this as a preventative. my house isnt separated its attached so thought Id rather be safe than sorry.

Anyway anyone want to share their exp. with these ? Im guessing people who are running heavy wattage are the ones who were getting problems with these ? Hoping 4 X 600's will be ok. No cableguys please leave that to jimm carey did I date myself enough yet lol

Ok so new prob of course haha I plugged in my lights last night only 3 and it stayed around 79-80 degress when I plug in the 4th itll prob go up to 83 im guessing idk but isnt that too high still fuck ?? Im going to plug in all 4 now and let everyone know ?

If it doesnt go above 85 is that fine ? I feel that even 83 is too hot

I have an exhaust a 12" can fan over 1000cfm I believe and have a 8" 747 cfm vortex bringing in air from outside . Isnt this enough ? well clearly not I guess aha Should I add another intake

All inputs greatly appreciated

fyi my exhaust is scrubbing, my filter > muffler > Fan > ducting exhaust. it stills on the floor and is like 7 ft tall lol not on the ceiling will it make a significant diff to put it on the ceiling shits heavy as fuck.

Inputs greatly appreciated vets :tiphat:

It might help a little to hang it but its still going to pull out the same amount of air so I think it will not solve the problem.

So are u just circulating that air around the room or exhausting it outside, or into another room?

don't bring in more active air with the intake, more than u exhaust out or u will leak odor from a positive pressure room.

How old are your filters? With age they become more and more restrictive to air flow. The moisture and dust clog them up.

Filter prob. 8 months to a year max. I thought these things last 2 - 2in a half. Icha. ?

Mirac

I exhaust to an outside room.

And intake from outside like a window.

Giving it a shot right will let you guys know the final temp.

def neg pressure there right now

2 to 3 times a year I take my filter outside and wash the pre filter in a washer, and blow out the carbon filter with an air compressor to get rid of some of the dust and small carbon. It lets it breath like new again and helps to get closer to 4 years out of them.
