Now it's time to buy/win/beg/borrow/steal tickets for this weekend

Good luck to you all, and see ya Saturday :tiphat:

so there I was in NY driving taxi in 2000 during the subway series, a Yankees fan I wanted to go to one game in The Bronx, I put out feelers for a single ticket in my favorite Yankees pizzeria and Yankees deli. If you're from NY you'd know that deli's & pizzeria's are split on their allegiance to one club or the other (mostly Yankees though) and you did business with them based on those premises and quality of food.

OK, I get a call from the deli, if I want it my ticket would be $150 for a great field level box seat for Game 1, giving up my taxi on a Saturday night would cost me @ least $250 in pay, that's already a $400 seat. Round trip travel & parking about $40, food & drink plus a Yankees World Series t-shirt about $100 === easily $550.

I decided to drive and listen to the game, my dispatcher gave me a nice gravy call to pick up a wealthy customer @ Yankee Stadium after the game. I arrived during the 8th inning but the game went 12 innings so I got paid waiting time as I sat, listened and toked bowls until the customer arrived :) He was happy to see his hometown taxi company waiting in the predetermined place (the Grand Concourse) and so a nice tip was given.

I cleared $330 that night and going would have cost me way over $600.

Now that being said I've been to lots of playoff & world series games, too many to count or remember and so missing/making one more became more of a business matter than a fan based decision.

Good Luck finding some good seats for the playoffs Shaman.......

Your team did it Ms Baba. Giants vs Cards. KC vs Baltimore.

If the Giants and O's make the WS there will be lots of orange color on the field.

No interest in tonight's game? All you west coast people are waiting for the Giants I guess. I'm all over the Orioles, FWIW.

I'm watching, but not particularly a fan of either team though. A lot of people in Missouri are hoping for a reapeat of the 1985 I-70 series. KC up 4-0 at the moment.

My team was eliminated long ago, but I still enjoy watching them fight it out. Being a Yankee fan, I have been spoiled over the years, and never even paid attention to the National League. This year, I watched National League games for the first time...
This game has been unusual, as K.C.'s defense has made the difference. A couple of great plays killed Orioles when they had runners in scoring position.
Orioles are capable of scoring lots of runs, so the game is not over yet. They've had a number of balls to the warning track that I thought were gone, but they just missed.

Yeah 5-4, The O's are fighting for it. I'm still amazed KC is even in this game.

Wow! Tie game. But no way that last batter should have been swinging at the first pitch he saw from a new pitcher. He should have taken at least one pitch, just to gauge his speed. Big mistake. All he needed was a fly ball, anything but a quick double play. I also thought the Orioles should have been running in that situation, to prevent the double play. The Orioles have left so many men on base, and no home runs yet.

That was a good game. It doesn't matter home or away to the Orioles. It doesn't matter if they lose. They completely forget and don't care. They just come back and win the next time. This series is just getting started.

Their closer was terrible, and Showalter left him in too long, watching him walk the bases loaded. They got out of it, but got killed by home runs against their side arm/submarine pitcher, and his replacement. When they tied it at 5, I thought they would win going away, but no home runs is bad news for them. They need much better relief pitching if they are going to advance. I thought they would sweep the Royals, but they looked rusty, and played from behind all night. K.C. has better pitching and defense, which was huge in tonight's game. A lot of runners left on base by good defensive plays by K.C. I bet the Orioles to win the series, but now they will have to come from behind to do it, and K.C. just seems very loose and confident. Tomorrow now becomes "must win" for the birds. If they don't win, their chances will be very slim. All the pressure's on them, as K.C. wasn't even supposed to be here.

they're getting quality from every angle, batting, fielding, pitching and bullpen. not the best quality by any means but because they're not falling flat in any of those departments they continue to win. It was the same w/the series against the Angels, no single player rising to lead the team, nothing truly noteworthy for future reference, but they sure are firing evenly on all cylinders.

O's and KC tied going into the ninth...good game!!

Not anymore! The Royals fooled everyone. Birds were favored, but Kansas City has proven to me that they are the best team in baseball. Their speed and defense are incredible. Their defense has saved multiple runs vs Orioles in both games. They are playing loose, and confident. Their bull pen is great. I don't see anyone beating them. Of course, I bet the Orioles to win the series, and in both games. I will now be all over K.C., as it looks like a sweep to me.
As far as the N.L., I am a Giants fan, at least for tonight...
They got half a run in the first 5 innings, so I took that.
Nothing like starting the game with a lead! With the 3 runs they have scored, the game is over already. Would like to see Giants vs Royals in the World Series.
Good luck Giants!
