just found out one of my old high school smoking buddies is working at harbor side. he says they are paying 13-14 for OD right now but it needs to be "best of the best"…but judging by their sun grown jars it all looks like pretty standard outdoor. might try to shop some of the cherry pie and gorilla glue over there, as soon as i mentioned those strain names he said to come by asap. all they have over there is basic boring stuff, kush this diesel that but only 1/5 strains really had any of that real OG/diesel smell….most of it is bland commercial machine trimmed with slight oxidation.

and their shatter game is absolutely terrible right now, i can't believe for being the biggest, premier shop in norcal, that they can't even get any decent shatter on the shelfs right now. no name brand bamf, gold coast, etc, just random root beer colored poop soup. even my friend was complaining, said they were looking for good shatter as well.

idk 13-14 seems low for high quality outs, but maybe i've just been in SoCal too much lately. 14 prob not bad considering it's Harborside i would expect them to lowball, maybe it helps to have a friend there.

When it comes to disp it's hard for them to get consistent quality! I heard harbor side requires growers to fill out IRS forms which is why I won't visit them! If that's changed I'd like to know! These dispensary's that sell average bud have no future once legalization kicks in! Bad ass growers will surface from the shadows producing buds caked with resin resulting 6 hour buzzes for chronic smokers. If dispensaries & brokers are smart they will buy as much as they can & sell as much as they can while they can!!! This is not CO & WA or other states that require too many inputs to produce high grade! I see the day when outdoor pest & Disease free out door Hawaiian commanding sick prices I'd say Rosta land bud too but that country is infested with broad mites and other problems! Some areas of Mexico grow sick weed too!

Old chuck monoculture doesn't work!! We might have 1 more GMO push but that ought to be the nail in the coffin! If farmers plant thousands of acres of MJ year 2 or year 3 your looking @ a pest & disease mess of biblical proportion!! USA has no choice but to change its farming methods!! This drought is a good thing when it comes to slowing these farmers down, hopefully America will wake up and pay attention to what's going on in the world! The last thing Cali needs is more farming and more people! Leaving climate change out of it there are not a lot of places in the world that can grow MJ Cali quality!

I'm an East coast guy, @Allendawg, plenty of rain but a shorter season than California growers. Good weed ain't hard to grow here. Cannabis is ubiquitous around the globe, about the most adaptable crop for a farmer to grow anywhere. That's why it is a threat to the powers that be.

Sure, the West coast super deluxe beautiful weed will always call for a premium, maybe, say $2 a gram.

$1 per gram isn't even bad money if you can pull a few hundred lbs per year. but really, $1 per gram is shit, i doubt top shelf will ever be that cheap, even a nice fat organic tomato costs a couple bucks at the store

A few years ago, Rand published a paper that estimated the cost to grow/process/manicure pot and concluded:

"In such circumstances we would estimate production costs for sinsemilla of $200 - $400
per pound, plus another $20 - $35 per pound for harvesting and processing."

IMHO, the harvesting/processing amount is rather low, I would substitute $200 per pound.

As suggested, add cost for any regulatory fees/tax ($50/ounce = $800/pound).

Link to that Rand study--www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/working_papers/2010/RAND_WR764.pdf

So if the cost is $600 (400 + 200) then the selling price must be greater than $1 per gram...unless you plan to give away money.

one of the main points made to convince people to vote for 'legalization' is too collect tax revenue from it. and the pleasure tax will likely stay high for the foreseeable future.
and i'm doing my best to do the same, staying high.

Not lately.

My mission in life = completely legal weed at $1 a gram.

I got some "golden" chemdawg #4 for ya... Or a unit of trim for $100 that's 45 cents per gram and you could roll joints all day

just yesterday I was donated $600 for 400gms of gold n grey last years random pack... I was just about to say that was the last of last years but I just remembered those two bins. :D nearly there..

SO, that's about 1.50 per gram.

Everyones after me lucky charms!

It'll happen when you start measuring your crops in tons rather than pounds. I ain't holding my breath though. Still a lot of refer madness to plow through.

On the upside like we can go out and buy a $100 a bottle wine or $1,000 it is not hard to imagine a $100 premium top cola down the road.

The politicians will be stupid about the tax thing for some time to come but sooner or later they will realize they can collect more money with more reasonable tax rates.

When ground up "Philip Morris" weed takes over, large colas may look extra nice to the ballers out there. And garner extra denari...? "Trophy Buds," as I call 'em.

Good weed can be grown lots of places. Phenomenal weed 6 hour plus buzz (chronic smokers) can't its a lot harder and more expensive = farming vs horticulture! As far as cheap weed, nothing grown will be cheap food prices are going up, again monoculture does not work! Global wheat crop is close to being non existent USA is lucky we should be last to loose our wheat crop unless we change!
