- facing fear
- having a moral compass
- drawing on faith
- using social support
- having good role models
- being physically fit
- making sure your brain is challenged
- having ‘cognitive and emotional flexibility’
- having ‘meaning, purpose and growth’ in life
- ‘realistic’ optimism.

These are a list of ten factors thought to be helpful in maintaining a resilient mind and flexible approach to life, its challenges and obstacles. It makes me wonder what the rules of resiliency are for plants and how we might encourage it. Benefits could include everything from stress resistance to tolerance of a wider range of conditions to reduced vulnerability to pathogens. Or stupid grower mistakes.

So, I thought my system would stir up a bit more interest here than this.

Would it help if I said that my lil ol' 7.5' x 13' x 6.8" room should yield anywhere between twelve and TWENTY # from just 3kW?

Maybe I'm way off- what kind of numbers do others get in setups like this? I know for sure my rig can't be THAT unique!
Yea

Ttystikk! Where's the updates at? It's been over a month and even then we only got one shot!

How's the HPS vs CDM head to head coming along?

He probably in the trimmers union. Picture 4 guys standing around a table holding scissors in their hands, telling that one guy with a tray full of buds how to clip each leaf properly. lol.. Hope hes just busy trimming big things.

come back tytty, u still studying rules of resiliency for plants. lol

hope ur all good bro!

I just realized I'm nagging Ttystikk for an update, and I'm EXTREMELY overdue for my update, that HE was asking for in this thread. Lmfao...

Big plants and few hands make for long days...

Laugh at what I study if you want. I think the results speak for themselves.

I've been busier than the proverbial long tailed cat in a roomful of rocking chairs. First doing some remodeling so shit works and fits better, then the electrical system went to hell.

I got a replacement chiller for the time being; an Arctica brand 3hp unit, which pulls 15.5A. It's an inefficient power hog, fund another brand. THAT precipitated my house main breaker's failure, the extra load being more than it could take.

The electrician has been here four days this week and will be back today to upgrade my electrical service to 200A! I'll set up a 125A circuit to a subpanel in the basement- this will handle lights, pulls, fans, controllers, etc. The other circuit will have a 100A breaker on it and will run the rest of the house and HVAC.

I feel like Robin Williams' Aladdin; ULTIMATE POWER! Eensy weensy growing space, LOL

The room I rebuilt with the big air handlers I've built works well to keep temps and RH in manageable ranges. That leaves the other one as being too much for silly lil Iceboxes to handle, lol

How much did the 200 amp service cost you to get installed?

Have you been able to keep growing during this time?

I can get 150A without extra board approvals and money to drop a thicker service cable, so that's what I ended up doing. The extra fifty amps was for headroom and little else, 150A will suffice nicely.

Yes, I kept growing throughout. Electrical service upgrades don't take a lot of time, once all necessary parts have been sourced and permits pulled.

I got a 200 amp box installed onto my house for $1300. I knew the guy though..

Also had him help me pull the wire for my 125A sub in the basement. Pulling large gauge wire like that is the worst. Next time, I think i'll pay to have him do the entire job completely, so I dont even have to touch it. Fucking nightmare.

At my current house I had to run #8/3 ~85' from the main to the sub in the garage/apartment. I thought that was a nightmare... It kinda was seeing as how I'm not using it at all right now, and had to run a new line #8/3 10' to the new sub in the main house... :wallbash: :bashhead:

I think next time I run any new lines I'm going to go with the armored conduit. It's ~1/3 more expensive but fuck pulling wire. After the time spent pulling the wire and the PVC conduit needed, the price difference is negligible.

I can't imagine running #2 or whatever for 125A. Although they make that in armored conduit as well, just have to run 3 or 4 of them...

Im pretty sure it was 3 0 gauge aluminum wires, and a #4 ground. FUCK.

chiller?

chiller?

Hey tystick what happened to the replaced chill king chiller you got after the ac service tech screwed the first one up? It seems you should have 2 now. Why did you go with the new brand? And 15.5 amps isn't bad for 3 tons. Your 2 ton was 10.5 amps. Both are 240 volt so 5 amps per ton. Is it a power hog or more amps than the original breaker box Could handle? Btu per amp seems same.
Any pics of your new air handlers?

You learned your lesson well, then. I have no fewer than three different certified electricians I can call for help or to ask questions.

The one that was replaced under warranty is the one that just failed. Again. The three horsepower unit uses 15.5A and hp is NOT a direct equivalent for Tons- they are smaller, in some situations by a lot. My two Ton chiller pulls only 8.5A, so yes there is a substantial efficiency difference.

Fewer, larger units are more efficient whether it's swamp cooling, AC or water chilling. Eventually I'm going with an outdoor mounted 5 Ton unit, which will bring the needed efficiency and capacity. And a few other things, we'll get to them later.

I didn't see HP , missed it! So its possible to be 28000-36000 btu. If cheap import count on 28000 btu. My eco plus commercial 1.5 HP is 12000 btu at 10 amps 120 volt. So 4.8 amps at 240.
Is your new one based on window ac unit like the last one? Was it a eBay buy? I like to know what to stay away from!

Also please post pics of the large heat exchangers ! Source and price if possible.

3 hp Arctica DA-3000B (jbjlighting.com) I'm not happy with the efficiency. It's a floor standing model, with little provision for air management.

Your unit is 5A@240V if it pulls 10A@120V. That makes it substantially less efficient than my 2 Ton chiller, but slightly better than the three hp unit I just got.

It was used from a local hydro store, they stood behind it. Props to them for getting it to me for way less than half the $4k retail price!

I didn't buy my air handlers, I made them. The most recent unit uses a forty dollar floor fan and a radiator from an '88 Volvo turbo, sourced from the junkyard. The fan shroud on the radiator was what made it work so well; it fits into the box fan housing like they were made for each other. Having just wrapped up the first 24 hours of testing, I can say for sure it will maintain 81f in a room with at least 3500W (4 x 860W CDM).
