Excellent post Bandit, OG Kush usually gets hated on by people who don't have access to it..

Hype fades fast... this is a yearly thing... watch.!
I know how good OG is, its damn good!! ....
like I said, Hype sells.
If you drive the extra 30 minutes to SFV, the same bud sells for $50 an eighth. It has to do with the Beverly Hills VS The Cuts

Just making an observation that OG KUSH and variants (MK, ETC ETC ETC) have demanded highest price (supply vs demand) in many places for over 3 years...

Just an observation, I'd love to smoke some Cripple Creek, Deep Chunk etc, but have never seen them in Cali...I'm only sorry I haven't tried those strains. and I would never pay $75 for an eigth, again, just quoting Weedtracker prices..Peace and may your trees produce many fruits.

hiya Bub! nice to see ya around...
i'm just grateful that i don't have to purchase any herb for $75 an 1/8th...wowzers!
Come on, do you think anyone HAS to buy herb at this price? Patients who pay this price do it for convenience, Beverly Hills folks, in L.A. there are clubs in every neighborhood and all have different prices. No need to to hate..

so anyone wanna know the real story?

for starters OG doesn't stand for original gangster or original general as if its some goddamn gang status. it stands for Ocean Grown.

"OG Kush, Bubba Kush and The West Coast Dog.
"In late '93 John from Grass Valley Ca. got the Chem Dog cut. He shared it with me, Jerry(cowboy) from Dibble Creek Ca. and Harold(Putz) from Sunset Beach Ca. Putz had a male he called the secret ingredient. It was a cross of Lemon Thai and an Old World Paki Kush. Putz bred the secret ingredient to the Chem Dog. The buds that came out of this cross were going around So. L.A. county in '95. Someone told Putz that Kush must be so good because it was mountain grown. Putz laughed and told him "this Kush is Ocean Grown Kush bro". The tag stuck and it became known as OG Kush. In the spring of '96 Putz married a girl from New Zealand. Before moving there he sent cuts of his OG to me and Bob(beans) in Salinas Ca. He gave all his P1 stock and all the remaining seed he had to ****(mad dog) from Downey Ca. In late '96 **** sold some seed to some guys in the Valley. That's where the San Fernando Valley cut of OG comes from. It's like the Original only more sat in pheno type. **** sold a cut of the original to a guy in Orange county and that cut is called Larry today. It's still around Orange county. **** sent one other cut of the original OG to a breeder in Europe. As far as I know he never let anyone else have it.
Jerry bred his Chem Dog cut to a Humboldt county indica boy. This was the beginning of his cubing proccess. At BX3 he got a pheno that had all the smell, taste and kick of the Chem Dog, but in a pure indica pheno. Jerry gave this plant to Bob. It became known as the West Coast Dog.
Bob bred this plant to my Old World Kush male. He took a male from that cross and bred it to the OG cut Putz had sent him. This is what made the original Bubba Kush."

You know, I've heard this story before and think its right on. I grew up in so cal Lynwood, South gate and Downey area. I have a few relatives that attended Downey and Warren high school back in the late 90's. They had access to some killer smoke. We didn't call it kush back then, we just called it chronic. When the word Kush came to my neck of the woods, it seemed like we were already there. Like we had smoke some of this kush in the late 90's. It looked, smelled and tasted the same as kush. Coincidence? Maybe. This was all before I was even lurking the net. Just my 2 cents

OG Kush isnt a Kush, its almost 100% sativa where as Kush is Indica, the original OG was Lemon Thai Haze x Old World Pak

I will admit I've shelled out for DJ's gear...

Once about 5 years ago I paid $70 for 1/8 of Flo at a local club. I had never seen anything above $50 at this particular dispensary, and I bought it mainly out of curiosity. It was payday and I was slightly manic anyway, so I forked it over. It turned out to be a purple rose-scented phenotype, masterfully grown, totally organic and perfectly cured, and to this day remains the best herb I have ever purchased at a dispensary.

The last time I spent $60 for 1/8 was for a jar of Blueberry grown from DJ's clone. Once again the sample was perfectly cured, golden with a blue tint, and it was amazing shit.

Both were total rarities, which is why I spent the money. And both were totally memorable. OG Kush is not a rarity, I can find that anywhere.

BTW, the last time I spent $55 for 1/8 was for some HTC Skunk that made me even more frustrated with the club where I bought it for not removing the Skunk IBL seeds from the menu when they ran out of them. The smell and taste of that stuff was like the 7th grade all over again...

no, i don't think anyone has to buy herb at this price, and i'm grateful that i'm not one of the people that does.

convenience is not the only reason people pay such high prices, curiosity can be another one, desire can be one as well and "beverly hills folks" <--what that means, i'm not sure, "black gold that is"< are not the only people paying those prices. L.A. collectives are the ones i think of when i think of overpriced herb.

i do know people that pay high prices for herb at collectives and they don't seem to be "beverly hills" folks and they don't buy the herb out of convenience.

Can you explain how i was hating?

As long as it taste's good that's all that matters:yes:, potency isn't really important, potency is easily fixed - just load up another bowl and rip that smoke like a dyson,
the only 'elite's' i've had/got in the garden are the Exodus Uk Cheese (honest rating like Simon Cowell - give it a 7/10 overall), FFA still in flower so can't rate it yet but it's looking like a damn good clone, can't wait to sample this 1 - it's got Abusive OG + Mass SS in it so looking forward to seeing just how good these are

the Fire OG is definately supposed to live up to the hype - quite a few guys got to try it in the Dam recently, supposed to be fire (pun intended):canabis:

from what OGs ive grown and dorked with id say there is some type of sativa, and some type of indica in um:D

sativa i couldnt say but the indica has bud like the DC, CC, im not sayin it has those lines in it, but the bud is the same as far as how hard and the way it grows.

the lemon could come from anywhere, so many lines have lemon in um. also the lemon could of come on just from the cross, either parent could of had no lemon what so ever, but once the combination was made, the lemon came out.

imo there is no way whatsoever to nail down whats in a plant by looks aroma or taste. there is a multitude of flavors and aromas available in weed, and plant combinations can reveal all kinds.

its complete utter speculation as to what the make up of OG Kush is.

This is takin from another cannabis forum, but it is what i reference to whenever i need chemdawg/og kush info.

History of the Chemdawg Family

At a Grateful Dead show at Deer Creek Amphitheatre, 'joebrand' (aka 'wonkanobe') and 'pbud' met 'chemdog' and sold him an ounce of very high quality pot for $500. joe and chemdog exchanged numbers and they later arranged for two ounces to be shipped to chemdog on the east coast. According to chemdog, one ounce was seedless and the other had 13 seeds.

In ’91, chemdog popped the first 4 seeds. From these seeds, one male was found and disposed of (chemdog was young, you can’t blame him). The 3 females were labeled ‘chemdawg’ (now ’91 chemdawg), ‘chemdawg a’ (now chemdawg’s sister), and ‘chemdawg b’. In '01, chemdog and his girlfriend attempted to germ 3 more seeds, labeled ‘c’, ‘d’, and ‘e’. the ‘e’ seed never germinated, ‘c’ turned out to be junk (according to chemdog), and chemdawg ‘d’ was the keeper. In '06, 'chemdog' and 'joebrand' reunited and joe was given 4 of the last 6 beans: Chemdawg phenos 1-4, '4' being the chosen keeper. Joe thought the '4' was the best representation of the original and thus dubbed it the 'reunion pheno'. Chemdog still has two seeds left in his stash.

Chemdawg Crosses:
• 'OG Kush' (the original cut) came from an s1 from in a bag of '91 Chemdawg in the Lake Tahoe area in 1996.
• 'Sour Diesel' aka ECSD came from an accidental cross of ('91 Chemdawg x Mass Super Skunk/NL)x DNL after the DNL hermed and seeded the room. The DNL's lineage is NL/Shiva x Hawaiian.
• Original Diesel' (also known as Diesel #1, Headband, Daywrecker Diesel, Underdawg) came from a cross of '91 Chemdawg x (Mass Super Skunk x Sensi's Northern Lights) done by a guy known as ‘weasel’.

• 'chemdog' and friends made several crosses that are held closely by a small group of friends and acquaintances. Among them are:

1. Super Snowdawg (Bubble Chem x [Super skunk x Oregon Sno])
2. Giesel (Chem D x Mass Super Skunk)
3. Bubble Chem (Chemdawg’s Sister x Sag's Bubbleberry)
4. Dawg Daze aka ChemHaze (Chem D x ’93 Sensi's NL#5/Haze)
5. Chemdawg D x Pbud (another old-school Colorado strain)

JJ-NYC has been working on a Chemdawg D-based seed line for several years now. He started by crossing Chemdawg D to Sensi's Afghani after thoroughly testing both Sensi's Afghani and Sensi's Hindu Kush to determine which was more stable and would be better for the initial cross. JJ then did a backcross, known as "Double Dawg." Several phenos of this circulate and several people still have beans. JJ's latest work to the line is a second backcross known as "Tres Dawg" which is just starting to get tested.

Rezdog of Reservoir Seeds recently released several Chemdawg crosses as part of his 'Trinity' charity auctions. The crosses included Chemdawg D x Sensi's Hindu Kush and Snowdawg x Sensi's Hindu Kush, Chemdawg D x Sour Diesel IBL, Snowdawg x Sour Diesel IBL, ChemHaze x Sour Diesel IBL and Giesel x Sour Diesel IBL.

I was smoking "kush buds" from Humbolt in 1982 around the same time we were getting some lime green skunk bud. I think the origins of OG Kush will be unknown but most likely derived from the late 70s early 80s California Kush crossed with some Mexican Skunky sativa.
I used to have my own name for the weed in dead show parking lots because I would always seem to get similar strains, most likely from nor cal, but it was never like OG Kush.
Smokin OG right now and it is a knockout strain that reminds me of smoking the skunk in High school circa '82. You could not walk around with the bag in your pocket without getting funny looks.

Okay IC let me clear this issue up right now! OG Kush is made up of the same stuff that dreams are made from. Grow some, smoke some, and enjoy!!!!!!!!

S

sourpuss

Thats the answer. Og kush is made of dreams:) happy thoughts, bubble gum, and lollypops.

Which og kush do we speak of? I think there are hundreds by now. Pretty sure its just the crosses people have beeen making from breeders. I like the grateful dead story. Not buying it tho.

I just watched the interview of the shadowy character and when he said the bunker was messing around with thai hp afg I got the chills. I have smoked that good Spanish Moroccan hash quite a bit as well as the hash plant. The first time some one gave me chem or sour or D on the east I was like Hash plant? The first time I got OG on the west I thought the same thing HP?. So Im thinking the bunker gang is sending out packs contaminated with hp pollen. Some beans or cuts made it to the rockies while some made it to Fla. I would gamble on the same scenario for socal, Something tells me as the scene evolved peeps bumped into each other with this gem of terpenne profile. I do enjoy it its soo spacey and narcotic, hits the lungs and legs just righ lol:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
