Hey all

Thanks for the kind words and positive thoughts. Ended up leaving a nice straight line of old trim, floating clones, and dirt right at the 21" mark from the floor.

We got between 4-6 inches of rain in a few hours. Storm sewers backed up. The major interstate interchange right (right) near me was under 15 feet of water. MSP had dive teams inspecting structural integrity of the interchange itself, looking for bodies and counting cars.

Our next door neighbors got 4 feet. Across the street they got five feet. A 100-year-old woman a couple towns over was found drowned in her basement.

Heaviest rainfall in 89 years.

But yes life is good - much better than it could be. We've gotten a decent haul of shit out, some carpet up, and even some dry spots! Thanks to bobble and the former lake house dehumidifier :)

Anyway, thanks again all. I'll keep updated (Fucking Flood Four-one-one Forum, for Free!). Total Life Event kinda thing that just happened/is happening.

DOH!

This is where you really have insurance pay out. I recently went through a house fire.

Yep, those life events around coming around in droves these days. I wish you the best of luck getting everything cleaned up and getting back on your feet. Looking forward to whatever comes next. :tiphat:

Missed your update earlier.

Maybe life isn't driving you in the opposite direction brother.

I think its a clean slate. A chance to start something completely different and new.

Like your eating habits and consumption of garbage like SODA. Not saying you do that, but if you do, time for a change, immediately, or you can kiss your heart good buy.

Your heart issue will be resolved with food, good food, REAL FOOD. After all we are what we eat... and our society made all the bad shit, easy, and all the good stuff, overpriced and hard to get.

You don't need a doctor, you need a handful of fruits, veggies, nuts and fresh air, and a dash of sun shine. Be picky about your proteins and drink a gallon of water a day. I bet with a resolved diet incorporating the right ingredients you'll be feeling so good in two weeks that you'll realize why everything is the way it is... to hold us back on all fronts, especially health.

You got a great attitude and we all got your back Silv, just take care of yourself first.

Growing is in your blood - just like the stoners who say they aren't picking up for a while... only to call you in two days LOL. You'll be back at it sooner than later, and maybe this whole fiasco saved your ass in another way you'd never know or find out about?

Just trying to shine some positive light your way brother.

Good vibes, green blessings and much love to you and yours :tiphat:

Sorry about the house fire - that's gotta be the f*ckin' worst.

Insurance likely to not be of any use in this case. Water came up from the sewer (storm sewer, not the poo sewer).

Yeah man, you're not alone in terms of HEY SURPRISE IT'S ME, LIFE!

Thanks for the well-wishes :tiphat: Funny thing is it's a congenital thing - not the kinda Eat Yourself Into Official Illness kinda thing.

Also kinda funny is that since this flood, I've been far less concerned about my ticker

Thanks to the help from my awesome wife, friends, family, and neighbors, the basement is damn near a clean slate. Carpet out, drywall out, insulation out, all large furniture out, .. It's basically a matter of "Let it dry, button it back up, re-furnish the damned thing." Now I can go to work on Monday AM like a normal person. Which is weird, since until Monday, my office was in the basement.. ?

Found out today the furnace (2008) is toast :woohoo: Hot water tank is OK, thankfully. Looks like "Shopping for furnace" is now on the short list of to-dos.

Here's some local accounts (slideshow):

And my favorite, right nearby (that's the embankment between the service drive and the highway):

Edit: One more - note the bulldozer peeling mud off the f*cking highway in the background:

I think I've got most of the sand outta my vagina and I'm ready to kick life right in its big fat fuckin' face.

Between licking my wounds about all the sentimental shit I lost, some progress's managed to occur over here. Not zacklee sure how, but hot damn we're close!

(But on the real, man o man, I'm a sentimental sonofabitch, and it really was a kick in the pants to lose all that shit. I don't give a rat's ass about a sofa or a coffee table or an entertainment center or tv, but ain't no replacin' my elementary school art projects, report cards, etc. .. Two years of letters folks wrote me in the joint, .. All Gandhi.)

Anyway. Enough'a my sand.

Got the electrical back up and working today, and by day's end, all the insulation will be stuffed back in the walls. Got drywall in the garage ready to button these walls back up.

Because I'm lazy as heck, we're gonna do beadboard/chair rail on the bottom -- saves me having to mud and sand  A dollar is worth time and headache every day of the week :2cents:

So no shit, the Order of Operations at this stage is fairly simple:

1. Drywall back on the walls
2. Beadboard up
3. Trim/chair rail
4. Paint
5. Carpet

and my favorite

6. :watchplant:
7. :tree:
8 . :joint:

Unfortunately there is no reversing the order :(

Funny thing is the carpet guy is hot to trot to get it done, which is cool because I'm hot to trot to (outta smilies, see #6 above), and carpet guy's hot trot is warming up my gallop a bit too.

Think of it as making room for lil silvers school art projects and such. Time moves forward.

Wainscottings the way to go - faster. And drywalling just sucks serious balls. So time consuming and messy ass shit. The only part of a build that's worse than painting.

So the grow space is gonna be brand-y new, all freshy fresh. A small blessing. we always mean to freshen the space, but it seems like 'just 1 more round' then Ill do it.

Gonna stick with hort?

hola wg!

Third time I'm typing this god forsaken message, f'ng brokeass at&t wifi.

Anyhoo. Grow space is same, .. For now. I have this neat little idea that if (when) we get some legal clarity (HB 4271) here, there's this section of the basement I'd like to annex. It's 12' x 7.5' (not that I've measured or anything), could be conspicuously walled off from the rest of the basement, and access would be via the room the grow's already in. Score.

I'm fingerin' we could stash education for a couple bambino's worth in a few years, and just be done with it. :dunno: Call me crazy.

But for now (and maybe ever), it's the same raggley 3 x 4'. Looking forward to seeing if I can't not clutter the place to heck, keep sh*t kinda organized. Gonna be keeping it horizontal - so much easier to control environment.

Stay tooned!

Oh ya, Im sure you didn't measure - while you had the tape in your hand - just eyeballed it.

atleast you didn't get your power snatched man ...two days with no lights nooo good!

That's too funny, only because I said to my wife last night, "I'm so glad there's no grow right now. Otherwise I'd be way bummed about these power outages. Now? Who cares."

But, for real, that sucks dude. Are you back on yet? That is for real a major suck deal.

Lots (lots) of people in my area were/are still out. We were spared, and I'm figuring it's some sort of karmic redemption from having our finished basement finished a few weeks back. :dunno:

Do you have a new approach to how you are going to grow in your space?

I know ideas run rampant being stoned and working on things and I'm sure some ideas ran past you that maybe are new? or have you tried everything?

Regardless, best of luck with the new endeavor and good vibes with green blessings to you and your family silver

Still waitin' on that fed ex too

All good dude - but for real, please do connect and fill me on in all the had happenin's!

Basement is movin'! Insulation and drywall are done - thanks bobble :tiphat: Big help on the drywall.

Gonna snap a line this weekend, and will be putting up beadboard & chair rail. .. Nexxxxxt weekend, I hope? That's the challenge - most major progress is mostly confined to the weekends. Can't carpet this sumbitch fast 'nough.

Hola ler!

Funny you mention that - more of my fantasy is spent on the space that could be, vs. the space that is. :)

Probably not much new approach. Well, kinda sorta. Hopefully a little more orderly, less wingy-dingy. (Though I do love winging it, as that's how I get through life).

Coco, 6/9, and we'll see from there. A little more focus this time on turnaround & planning.

Thanks for the well-wishes! That's fantastic, though another set of hands is even better ;)
