guess im going for the cps tr21 and mt69. thanx as usual icmag!!!

still wondering if someone could point me in the right direction of a thread that explains why propane needs high pressure clamps and butane doesnt........

guess im gonna be running n-butane till i figure it out....

lastly what the procedure on running a NOT full tube. kus for the difference in 1 and 2 lb unit (terpp) i might aswell get the 2pounder but still when it comes to nugrun i might not be working with that much. can i just stuff the extra space with coffee filters or somthing?

Has anyone tried the CPS CR600 or know if it is a suitable replacement to a tr21 and seperate heat exchanger? Its only 1/2 HP, but it is oil-less and has a dual fan "super cool" system that says it operates in temperatures up to 140F, but I don't know if it has the same type of motor isolation or offers any benefits over an appion.

Butane has higher vapor pressure at the same temperature,

Butane ~25 PSI (at 50 °F)

Propane 853.16 kPa (at 21.1 °C) or about 123.7 PSI

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propane

Btw, GW, did you ever get a vapor pressure reading for dimethyl ether (MZ12X Organic Degreaser) at ambient temperature? Also, I wonder how 'thick' it gets at super low temperatures, i.e., -50F?

Yeah, you will need to buy another hose.

Everything from terpp is amazing and they ship right away for small stuff like that too. I have a few of their hoses myself.

Personally I get my hoses from amazon now, they're cheaper but they work good.

Propane is at higher pressure due to its lower boiling point. You also need colder temperatures, or higher pressures to return it to liquid state. http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/propane-vapor-pressure-d_1020.html

A 70/30 mix of butane/propane might serve your needs better.

Use a shorter tube or pack the balance with coffee filters.

Looks like the supplier is Unisource, who also has local stores. My plumbing contractor friend recommended them, and I have them on my bidding list for the next order.

thanx for the help as usual greywolf , i was reading permacultures thread about propane, kinda steered me away from pure propane . gonna start with butane then prolly add back some propane in a couple months once i get the hang of cls.

thanx for the tip on the not full tube , i was hoping it could be solved this way.

:tiphat:

Yes, 1/4" JIC will work just fine.

What I was saying, was that 3/8" JIC is different from 3/8" SAE

but you are fine when it comes to 1/4"

Don't worry man

sorry man , im learning as i go haha. but i did buy one 3/8in jic hose because i saw that terpp set came with 2 -1/4in and 1- 3/8in.

so what should i do about the 3/8in jic ? swap for sae ?
i think having the system in person will speed up my understanding..

I see. You will need to the NPT fitting to match because the 3/8" will be different.

For example
http://www.amazon.com/Weatherhead-5...09714536&sr=1-18&keywords=3/8"+npt+to+3/8+JIC

That is ridiculously expensive though so I would look around.

I have both 3/8" jic and sae flare fittings on my system. Wish they were compatible..

Not to hijack the thread, been enjoying all the information being supplied. I ask many of the same questions asked here and a appreciative for the knowledge....

I would love to build one of these CLS, been shopping on Terpp and began to wonder....

Could increase the size of the material column somewhat on a lil terp by using a CPS TR21?

Could you Turn a lil Terp into an active system with a TR21?

The differences between a lil terp and an mkiiia active system are minimal, you basically need a different lid and flood port and maybe get a bigger column, and then you need all the ancillary parts like hoses, storage tank, etc.
